  • What is the relationship between Gravity field and the Higgs field?

  • All this must be true, it's in colour.

  • did they get to the bottom of it?

How deep is a gravity well?

If you could stand at the center of a planet the mass would be above you pulling you up.

Gravity forms a spherical chaldron at the center of every Heavenly body.

    Gravity well = bottomless pit

  • how efin dare brian cocks say that einstein was "wrong", "failed". Einstein said "messing with those things that should not be messed with" (or something like). Einstein knew, but chose not to reveal it. If wasn't for AE brian cocks would be walkinh round galping at pieces of shit saying "wow, it amazing". The fact that the universe is moving away from us faster and faster is a clue wouldn't you say! Keep off, don't bother, look after sheep

  • @MrFirebits In love with Einstein much?

  • awsome questions to start with @ 2:02

  • I also think this "Drag" or "Condensation" from the Speed at which Mass travels through the Space/Time Fabric is what changes the passage of Time

  • The more Speed a Mass has, The more drag there is on the Space/Time Fabric, thereby creating more Gravity, Kind of like how there is more Air Resistance on a car the faster it goes. I think when the Mass reaches the Speed of Light squared, it will reach Critical Gravity levels and basically implode on itself, thereby creating a Blackhole

  • Mass x Speed = Gravity || Mass x The Speed of Light squared = A Blackhole || I just made that up

  • Prof. Cox I would love to have the opportunity to personally present (and give you a copy of a book) an explanation regarding two new discoveries, derived from Newton's laws on that mysterious force we call Gravity. I know that if anyone could see the scientific truth, you will. I know SR and GR modified Newton's laws in extreme circumstances but that does not affect these findings. Please respond.

  • @howardsway782 I know you have the best of intentions but you should know that this isn't the right forum to contact Brian Cox. The professor, or anyone involved with the making and distribution of this content, have absolutely no affiliation to this video/channel/YouTube. Unfortunately I can't point you in the right direction but good luck anyway.

  • @howardsway782 try him on twitter i'm sure he'd take a look?

  • This is a fantastic documentary, thanks for sharing

  • This might seem like a really retarded question, I'm only really a hobbyist with astronomy, but it got me thinking. I'd love a clever answer to this.

    Newton said that F=M1+M2 / square r

Einstein (well actually Minkowski) said that space does not exist independently of time, and that there is only one combined dimension, spacetime.

That would mean that the square 'r' in Newton's equation must be reinterpreted, seeing how space is intrinsically entangled with time, no? How did we do that?

  • @Daymjo - f = m*a + timespace curves ruining everything. Relativity rocked Newtonian science to the core.

  • makes sense, havent been able to find the actual formula anyway but I guess it's possibly too complicated.Any chance you'd be willing to answere a different question on a related topic perhaps? it's on the 2nd part of this video, the experiment with sending someone to the nearest star and back :)

  • Great documentary I think that in our life time there will be a quantum theory for gravity hopefully.

  • 1:46 can anybody tell me the name of the soundtrack? or some similar soundtracks without lyrics?

  • Issac Newton he was correct with his prediction how gravity works but his equation inaccurate. Is not the mass give the gravity force but energy concentration which is the part of each planets inner core denser the energy higher the gravity force check my channel out you may learn lot more.

  • Does anyone else think that idiots like Muhammed here shouldn't be allowed computers? Quantum theory indicates that Newtons laws are incomplete or on a sub-atomic level do not apply, and scientist are trying to figure why.

Yet this understanding of quantum theory is exactly what (modern) computers, in fact ALL micro-electronic, devices work on. Without these "idiots" you wouldn't have these most complicated machines. Now who's the IDIOT!

  • 2:22 He totally just quoted Star Wars.

  • @animalcrosser591 Well spotted Sir:- The Force is strong in this one com/watch?v=ukbTFgQ4jxs .At about 2.10 mins in. :-)

  • I just lost four I.Q. points reading these useless comments without proper grammar and spelling. Vote up my comment if you liked this video :)

  • rotating liquid metal such as the iron core of earth produces the effect of gravity. you can replicate this by spinning ferromagnetic liquid super-fluids in a electric wire entwined toroid vortex. picture it as you would a gyroscope.

  • @BornAgainEngineer lolwut? are you some sort of creationist on gravity?

We do not currently not know what gravity is down at its fundamental level, but we know it has nothing do with spinning liquid iron cores.

Its so hard to decide whether some posters are plain trolls or really that fucking retarded... sadly the latter seems to apply more and more lately.

  • @BornAgainEngineer

Hmm I doubt it's that simple, Mars' core isn't spinning and the planet still abides the laws of gravity no?

  • @BornAgainEngineer The spinning of the Earths core creates the magnetild that protects us from solar radiation and radiation from space, to get gravity all you need is mass.

  • @BornAgainEngineer Then how does the Cavendish experiment work?

  • @9hello123 Wiki has an excellent explanation of the cavandish experiment.

    It's extremely simple.

  • @jimmywrangles I know how it works, I was replying to someone that believes that gravity only exists because of rotating liquid, which would clearly make the cavendish experiment not work.

  • What an unscientific documentary, this guy makes no sense at all. And whats with that freaky smile on his face, he never takes it off.

  • @adapaevolved he makes more sense than you just did

  • @adapaevolved says the random guy on the internet talking about a scientist with a PhD in physics and got BBC to fund him multiple television series about science. If he makes no sense to your its because your brain doesn't understand the things he is saying or even why he is saying them.

  • I love how they got this hipster faggot to come on BBC and talk hypothetical SHIT for 50 minutes. It's great!

  • @LordShivasServant Shut up, Brian Cox is a genius!

  • @viper200691 With a name my cocks, I can see why you'd say that :P

  • Brian, you rock :)

  • I think I' discovered the secret to gravity!!! WHHOOO!!

If it's right I guess you will all hear from me again in about 4-5 years since I need to develop the math for it and hardly know enough about physics yet to do so.

    See ya all then, hopefully!

    Peace.

  • lol typical for mankind... lets fly up to the moon and litter

  • @Muhammed140 In exactly the same way that radiologists aren't killed by prolonged exposure to X-rays over time - by shielding the craft. Yes it is possible to easily dissipate high intensity radiation - and in fact is rather easy to do so - otherwise satellites containing electronics would have their workings competely fried by the same belt (and that doesn't happen)

Also, I'm not sure exactly who you're referring to as "parasites", and I really don't have any idea where you're going with that..

  • @Muhammed140 Does anyone else think that idiots like this shouldn't be allowed computers? They say that all the absolute basics of science is wrong, yet they think that they have the right to use one of the most complicated machines science has managed to invent?

  • @9hello123 Usually... people who *thought* they had grasped the Classical Physic (but actually didn't know much about science as whole), and people had a hatred toward the establishment: will often turn out to abhor the established physic. They succumbed to overconfidence and their desire to prove the authority wrong. -It is not that they are IDIOTS, but they are literated IGNORANT (they know stuff but also deny it)

  • @9hello123 The same can be said for every scientific discovery. If we listened to people like you we'd all be living in caves trying to eat rocks.

  • @EMGzapper What?

  • @Muhammed140 Try doing some research before you let your butt speak, read this

    lsda[dot]jsc[dot]nasa[dot]gov/books/apollo/s2ch3[dot]htm

I didn't read all of it, but what i did read basically says that the radation wasn't that much of a problem.

  • Dr. Brian Cox, PhD says in this clip that he was just over one year old when the lunar landing took place, which occured on July 20, 1069. Not sure when this show was ''filmed', but that would make him 40 years old in 2008. His youthful enthusiasm certainly helps the impression that he is younger than that.

  • @Jefferdaughter 1069!!!! Brian's like 940... Wow, he doesn't look it at all...

  • @imtheuser12345

He's a bit older than he looks, I think he's secretly invented a time travel machine.

  • Isn't Brian lovely? I could watch him all day long.

  • @imtheuser12345 How stereotypical.

  • That guy used to be a UK rock star now he is a PhD student in physics

  • @aaaaaa222zzzzzz He's a Research Fellow and Professor, way way way past being a PhD student.

  • @aaaaaa222zzzzzz he is a professor

  • @aaaaaa222zzzzzz like my philosophy professr used to be a drummer for a rock band haha

  • Absolutely fascinating!

Thank you for sharing this amazing video!

    :D
