This was indeed the Japanese version of the Game Boy version of "Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle" released in the US. AVGN didn't reviewed the Game Boy version, only the NES version instead.
Instead that this game was simply released overseas as simply Bugs Bunny, so it was pretty obvious that it doesn't count as part of the Crazy Castle series. However this and Mickey Mouse II (Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2) were re-released together in Japan as Bugs Bunny Collection. This was because their next games were going to be released as Bugs Bunny games in Japan too.
I'll never fotget the DISAPOINTMENT when I realized this game was basically the same as Bugs Bunny, which I already had and to a certain degree disliked! My greatest child hood trauma!! Which says I was a quite lucky kid regardless.
That was, during the time of release, Capcom had rights to make Disney games. Due to copyright regulations, this game had to use Warner Bros. characters, notably, Loony Tunes.
The Japanese language does not differentiate between the "R" and the "L" sound. And since the letter "R" is used for both in Japanese romanization, you'll frequently see this kind of mistake in Japanese games, especially in older ones.
The gameplay and puzzles are the same, the mechanics and levels are the same, and the weaponry is the same. The sprites are different. Which game you prefer primarily depends on whether you prefer playing as Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny and whether you prefer collecting hearts or carrots and whether you prefer foiling Walt Disney or Warner Brothers characters.
There is no logical reason to prefer one game over the other. I personally grew up with the Mickey Mouse version, which I am more nostalgic about. I personally prefer Walt Disney characters, especially as they have been rendered in the game. I prefer collecting hearts because I'm sentimental.
wow! such a thorough and great answer! i thank you for caring enough about my question to answer it so splendidly! Thank you! I think i prefer the Bugs Bunny Sprites to the Mickey Mouse Sprite. I think The rabbit looks better! Thanks bye!
i've searching this game for a long time, please tell me where can i download this game. i really want to play this game.

The second game was also released as "Hugo" (starring Hugo the Troll) in parts of Europe, due to that character's popularity there.

Because the developers of the game are Japanese.
