The first Man Made earthquake lasted a whole week. Shattered glaciers. Threw all life up ut of the see... fossils still there for decades you see. If they can hide this, then what can't they hide... THE CAN'T HIDE ME and The Earthquake at Disenchantment Bay has Shide No. 333, 1899 the Yakutat Bay earthquake of September 3. Shide No. 337 is one of the early shocks on September 10 and No.338 the heaviest shock of September 10
global warming is a funny story.. it's also funny to say something that expensive is green.. do you know how much waste is a result of 130,000 dollars?
the people who keeps telling us to be green and buy this kind of cars are the only ones who can afford it, rich celebrities :D nice but I can only afford an old 4 cylinder guzzler.
@EvolveVolvo, I had hoped the government would give the money to Tesla rather than bail out the car companies producing the same old technology as well. That really could have been a catalyst to launch us forward into an eventual economic independence. I am middle class and appreciate the need to keep a paying job, but I would like to see our country merge auto workers into that technology more urgently.
Google power meter was invented to regulate the consumption of power potentially provided to the public for sale by Google Energy, LLC using 111 year old Tesla technology. This venture between Elon Musk and Google was commemorated by the Triforce Easter egg symbols in 2009. Many of these triangle symbols were incorporated into the Google Doodles that lead up to the 09/09/09 9:09:09 Google Doodle and were subsequently removed from record in The Great Google Doodle Conspiracy.
Something obviously went wrong in September 2009. Did they cause Sumatra? Did Zelda fan Susie Sahim take the fall because George Hwang was instructed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin to include the symbolic Triforce symbols? Ask The Three Musketeers of Tesla Motors. Oh wait... they died in Palo Alto and their bodies were burned beyond recognition while the city was in chaos soon after that.
@emforty2 Excellent point! I would much rather give my money to advance this technology than perpetuate a petroleum based economy. My greatest wish for this country is a return to economic independence. I think this would be a huge move in that direction. In this country, we vote with our dollars. I will certainly invest in this company when they are public.
I hope to see more electric cars, because I cant afford gas anymore it is getting higher and more greedy. Electric makes a lot more sense to me because we can rely on solar power, and less pollution on evironment. Hope that car goes into USA. WE can not depends oil for too long because of long diplmancy issues with other countries.
Yakutat Bay, Alaska, USA (1899,September 3 and 10)
The largest vertical surface displacement caused by a single event occurred in this uninhabited region. The second of two earthquakes thrust underwater rocks 47 feet 4 inches (14 meters) above the sea. The Yakutat Glacier, which had been sliding downhill for almost 50 years, suddenly went in the opposite direction. The Hubbard Glacier broke and sent huge ice chunks into the bay. 150 miles away, the Muir Glacier shattered and began to retreat.
RIP Tesla Employes. What a legacy these guys leave and will never even get the credit for all they where capable of. My warmest wishes to the families left wanting since the plane crash! Reminder of "the day the music died", alot of talent gone!
yea puastation dingalingaling....lets here youre economic analysis, you frickin drone...electrification of vehicles holds tremendous promise as the other manufacturers are now persuing it big time..so lets here your analysis pua you idiot..
y regal you're a dummie and didn't even respond to what i said because you're a dummie....i said wasting fossil fuels is like wasting stored solar energy when we should be learning how to convert it to the originial source, did i dumb that down enough for you dummie....or do i need to repeat it again.....no just reread the comments again before you do one of you're dummie posts.....you dummie...
were the employess of tessla that were killed in a plane crash an indication of that already? i don't know if they were higher ups or just bottom rung employees ???
There is infinite amount of oil underground.. JK! global warming has not been proven yet and based on the email screw ups it never will be. Drill baby, drill!!!!!
wrong again ajidiot...oil is a limited resource and if you knew anything which you obviously don't oil is stored solar energy you frikin idiot...so not that i want to waste time lecturing dimwits...but solar is the original clean source nature figured that out a billion years ago or so...
At one time, scientists believed there was 1.6% difference between Chimps and humans DNA. Thats 48,000,000 differences. If you figure 1 gene evolution per year, and two sexes evolving to propogate the gene, the odds of evolution are so low you might as well find a new belief. Evolutionits believe: In the beginning nothing. Creationists believe: in the beginning God. Either way, its a religion; the only difference, one is tax supported. Read a bible, do what it says, God won't send you to hell.
We have discovered hundreds of years of oil reserves that makes the claim of scarcity absurd. Problems arises when not all oil is as easily drilled as it is in northern Iraq. Uzbekistan, which probably has more natural gas than Iraq, though the terrain, politics, the sulfur halt makes it less convenient to extract.
I believe climate change is a real thing and it engages me. I will probably buy Tesla Motors when they go public. I wouldn't call others ignorant before you got a grip yourself.
are you crazy?? do you know what is hidroelectric or hidrogen batteries or Magnetic Tunel Junction batteries? Your way is very difficult and deathly... Future is coming every moment, but wascreated and invented long time ago like Tesla did last century and still living with his awsome technology and still for diclosure, investigate and develop. Electricity or electron power is the only way to go, for the moment...
say miserable dingdong...you're trying to pretend to be intelligent and it's not working....natgas, is just another depletable resource dimwad....the sun will shine for a few billion more years...natgas wont last for a few hundred...what a ding dong...these guys are working hard to solve problems as best they can and you miserabledingaling..aren't comming up with anything...someone should start drillin holes in your head to get some more air in there air head....
How about you learn how to get to your point, but i guess you would need one to do that. Let's examine your brilliant spiel; um ok so the car is electric good research there, and your trying to relate the car to nazi's sad attempt but i mean thats how propaganda works, and now your talking about how much high performance sports car cost and how much to convert it to fossil fuel... good idea. Finally What math are you talking about and what history, of cars? what truth, your truth? your opinion
Missed the point entirely, dearie.! ! :( Goebbels used propaganga media to push a belief which was false. The media push, such as can be seen on shows like "Beyond Tomorrow" leads people to believe that electric cars are a practical alternative, TODAY ! They are NOT! My point is; until they are, one could convert the original car to run on CLEAN, ABUNDANT natural gas. So clean, in fact, your gas stove and heater in your house run on it. The CNG Honda Civic
i dont wanna support temporary solutions, i want change now. not in 50 years when big car companies decide to get around to it, when a sedan tesla is released ill have one.
Just so you people know, I think global warming is a bullshit way for politicians to get their hands in your pockets to fix a problem that doesn't exist in an environment they have no control over. However, I think that Nikola Tesla was brilliant and if they can find a way to make the Tesla turbine car financially available to the average person I think that it would be very useful. So far as feul, we need controlled explosions for the torque to get things done so this concept is still lacking.
love it, wish tesla the best. US should have not bailed out GM and rather given the money to tesla for doing the right thing. fuck gm, fuck opec, fuck all arab oil countries.

us petrol heads need to stick together in terms of the amount of energy i consume i am the equivalent of 50 Asians and i am proud to consume the energy of a small village. If mother earth can't t take it she needs to get r done and start cleaning herself up , cats do it. Also edison is my hero, tesla with his fancy electricity we dont need know fancy electricity around these parts.... we would be doing a disservice to the dinosaurs that god put on the earth so we could drive them later.Yeha
"Doesn't pollute", unless you count having to plug it in to recharge. Then, you are in the same boat as every other moving vehicle. Doesn't pollute...unless you drive it and need a recharge.
why dont they put an air duct somewhere on the hood with a turbine inside which could be used to recapture some of the energy from moving forward and recharge the battery?
No I didnt mean use a turbine as the only power source I mean use it to help recharge the battery to get extended range like regenerative braking does.
No, read what i wrote. It's a dead end to do this. You would only use the turbine when slowing down and at this point the regenerative breaking will be more effecient in generating electricity back to the battery.
not necessarily, it's relative to the torque required to turn the rotor... also if you put it on the back side of the car over the trunk it's not creating additional friction. Utilizing vawt based turbine on it's side seems the way to go... something like a squirrel cage ....you could actually build this for less than $100 to recharge atleast one battery with old hard disk(magnets).. blower fan and some copper wire you could even afford to put iron core into the coils on the stator
You have to understand a couple of things. Tesla had no factory. So limited production. The huge research cost needed to be paid off. The Roadster help promote EVs.
Now they are working on building the 50k Model S. Next the 20 to 30k car.
Tesla is building next-gen EVs.
Nissan made a simple one hundred mile EV. Anyone can do that. But most don't.
to produce electricity you have to burn coal, which is three times more polutant than oil, just imagine all electric cars being pluged at night to charge those huge batteries, cali would blackout at night.
WRONG!!! You are thinking that THIS model is the final product - and no future development will take place. Are you driving a Model T????
And I would MUCH rather have electric car's than importing BILLIONS of worth oil from countries that would just as soon watch America fall!!!!!!!!
This is NOT the final product - it is a beginning of a revolution - to stop sucking the Mid East oil pipeline!!!!! Probably will not happen by next week - but you have to start somewhere - why not NOW!!!
I think you should do more research we do have a tesla dealer in Wa. and this is very close to the final products itll set you back 100 grand tough. so i really don't see the savings, electric cars are not cheap specially exotic ones.
You are partially right, producing energy can also polute but its a lot more efficient than producing gas which requires not only burn oil but process it and transport it, all that makes burning gas a lot worst for the environment. Check the leaf site even with the worst efficient energy source is 60% cleaner than gas.
Even though that this i true, you have to consider the fact that the efficiency of turning coal into electricity is still much high then petrol used in a combustion engine.
The modern and latest combustion engine have, at very best, an effeciency of 30%. The electric motor has an efficiency exceeding 90% and rising.
Driving one mile in an electric car with the electricity sourced directly from coal are still poluted less than driving the same mile in the most effecient petrol/diesel/hybrid car
I am confused... This vehicle does not have carbon emissions, sure. However when the batteries have run their life where are we going to store the large amounts of chemical waste?
I guess I'm not as smart as some of the people that comment here. The comment that " man cannot poison the whole Ocean ".I guess your not familiar with the vast dead zones being reported by marine biologists.Haven't heard of the great pollution of the Gulf of Mexico by the phosphate industry on the west coast of Fl.?I wish I could live like you be oblivious to the warning signs.
I love environmentally friendly technological innovations; wish I was clever enough to devise a way for people to power their autos and get high speed internet access using their own feces. But the notion of man has / will continue to alter the climate, and the effect of which will be disasterous, is just plain wrong. In fact the proponets have it backwards. CO2 levels are a byproduct of tempurature change, not the driver. The sun is the driver with its seasonal and lifecycle fluctuations.
God himself cannot sink this ship/Titanic! Talk about hubris. Man cannot conquer God's work but Man can mess it up locally. We can poison our streams and haze out the sun with smog but we cannot poison the whole ocean nor block the sun out like a volcano can. It the Watermelons out there really want electric cars then they should let the market decide. I am in sales and put a minimum of 150 miles on my car per DAY! Give me a realiable, affordable, safe, convenient, et. al., car & I'll buy.
All this talk of Electric Cars & Companies out there (finally giving us an alternative to cars that run on Imported Oil), giving us a clean Burning Option. I think that we should all Embrace this Technology. I am having my Restored 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Seville converted to Electric with everything going under the Bonnet and not changing any of the looks or Functions of the Car. I think this was always going to be the Next Step in the Evolution of the Automobile. Yes, It's Safe and Affordable.
also, just look up nikola teslas wireless energy system, you can make an electric car have unlimited miles!! i put up a system like this in its infantsy, but once i perfect it m y electric car will never need to be fueled again! everyone just check it out!
If you're putting a minimum of 300 miles per day on your car, you work too far from home. You waste a minimum of 3 hours per day in your car. What a waste of life. This car is awesome, but I seriously doubt they will make it affordable for every household to own one. If they did, I would need the solar so I could take a 300 mile trip to visit our daughter. She'd let us plug in to drive home hahaha.
As in MOST inventions - you have to start somewhere and USUALLY the final product in NOT the starting point. If Tesla is successful for 3 to 5 years - this will start the evolution of the electric car. If NOT - then you WILL still be paying for gas 20 years from now - but with Tesla - you will not!!!
The science, or sometimes the lack there of, of man-made caused Global Warming, is not settled like the prophet Algore would like us to think. It is pure hubris to believe the alruism of any legislation or car commercial. They are all filled with graft and corruption.
The science is not settled and cannot be settled. Galileo challenged the settled science of geocentrism with heliocentrism and again by Einstein.
Be careful, too much sugar in your Kool-Aid will rot your brain.
Yes, that's true. Carbon emissions are the wrong thing to focus on since they don't actually contribute to global warming (it's solar activity. Carbon dioxide levels are a RESULT of the temperature changes caused by sun spots and flares). However, we still need to be concerned about the ecology of our environment. Also, wasting money on petrol and maintenance of internal combustion engines is expensive and inefficient. We need electric cars to be available at reasonable prices ASAP!
Good luck trying to sell that expensive ass piece of technology. I know damn well the greedy manufacturers have priced these so high that nobody can afford one except maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger and the likes.
Why not make electric cars more affordable around $10-15,000 and then you might actually having something.
You want to know who killed the electric car? The greedy manufacturers that priced them out of the range of average people, that's who.
greedy? you sir are stupid. they have to fight with big oil company. that's their budget idiot. why would they want to rob you being the underdog? you don't know anything about how the world works. plz die on your computer
bunch of hacks seling a fad, riding on the trendy 'go green' movement. takes a couple of minutes to fill up my gas tank, takes all night to recharge this thing, no thanks. Nikolai Tesla reportedly built an electric car that didn't use a battery, but pulled its power from the air. This car and this company doesn't deserve to use the name Tesla.
Unfortunately, solar panels of that size would be incapable of making any notable charge on the batteries. All they could hope to do would be a trickle charge. And while that is nice for a regular battery (to keep it topped off), it would not be worthwhile on something like this.
the only mistake i see these upstart companies making is pricing their product far above the price all but a few people are willing to pay. they should take a few notes from henry ford, get some venture capital that is willing to wait a while for ROI, and offer a car that the average car buyer can afford. i assure you that demand will outstrip production and profits will come rolling in once things get going.
I completely AGREE - you hit that nail dead center on the head!!
!
The Tesla Roadster is wonderful - but a $110,000 price tag will makes sales VERY slow!
But for Tesla's case - most venture capitalists today would want majority ownership of the company - as soon as the check clears the bank!
Take note from Mercedes-Benz!! It was formed from Daimler-Benz by a Spanish financial wizard - if only they would name the company after the daughter that he dearly loved - Mercedes!!!!!!!!!! THAT WORKED!
Nice video. We're with ya Elon and Martin. Hey, check out our "Solar Wind Generator Green Construction" on you tube. The video shows our system in action in Orchard Park, NY. (home of the Buffalo Bills). Canadice Construction has gone Solar since July 9th 2008. We are mean, green and clean!! We are curently developing a "Solar-Wind Charging Station" for electric vehicles.
In part what makes an awesome sports car is the sound of the engine and smell of gasoline combined with burning rubber in the air. Until they can make an electric car do that I'm sticking to my gas guzzling, environmentally dangerous, and oh so loud awesome sports car. oh yeah and the sound of changing gears in a turbo charged car with a loud blowoff valve...priceless
Electric cars, motorcycles and atvs can burn more rubber, pound for pound, than their gasoline counterparts. But you're right about one thing: We definitely shouldn't switch to electric if it means giving up the smell and sound of gasoline engines. You are the most well informed individual I know. It is a pleasure to have you post your moronic absent-mindedness.
What they don't tell you is it costs $5000 for a "full tank" of electricity! OK so I lied but, the electricity required to make a car move 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and have a 250 mile range, is mind boggling, it would surely cost far more than liquid fuel currently costs?
Here in British Columbia, BC Hydro's residential rates would make a full recharge of the Tesla Roadster cost less than a dollar Canadian. Do some research before being a twit.
Not only should solar panels be implemented into these cars, but also high output alternators connected to the axles as well as wind powered turbines. That way you're using the air around you as a charger as well as your forward momentum driving the alternators.
Vincent you doofus, connecting alternators and turbines to the car would give it LESS range, not more. It takes power to turn an alternator, and turbines cause drag. You can get a little back by using alternators as brakes, but it is minimal because the time spent braking is minimal to the time spent driving.
Why not build cars with smaller motors? There is no need for a functional auto with a motor with no more than 100 hp. We are being brainwashed to consume so multi national corps can make profits.
We are shitting where we sleep. We must stop this mindless consumption and get back to reality. Let's start thinking for ourselves instead of being bought and sold by greedy big business.
you will NEVER see this amazing car go into production! You-know-who will quickly extinguish that plan in a heartbeat. nice try. I wish it were possible. Sorry to sound so negative.
if they'promoting this they should at least make it affortable like $50.000 .Only movie actors can afford this since thy think its good for Global Warming which is joke it made Al Gore richer .
if you check out their other videos the 2nd generation car they are working on now is in the $50,000 range, and their intentions are to get the 3rd generation down to $30,000 range.
However, they better hurry as aptiva is already starting to produce a limited number of electric cars and they sell for about $28,000.
If: We pollute, mainly Ozone and Particulate. Ozone destroys our protection from the solar rays. Particulate asphyxiate living beings. No protection from sun, more intense light, more warming the planet (one feels it daily in the skin). Particulate mainly from combustion engines turn fragile trees, people, animals, etc. Talk talk about greenhouse effect, then our skies are covered with artificial clouds? Talk talk about ecofriendly, then think 'fast running' cars? Still consumption in our blood?
I laugh when I hear people say "i do this because of global warming"... I believed in Global warming at one time, but now its a joke, its there for marketing, Climate change would be the real word. Our earth has natural climate cycles, its proven in the past to happen many times regardless of our existance. Yes, we're polluting, but we're not warming the earth. blah blah right?
lmao, hey now, I use energy efficient bulbs, and i bike to work instead of drive, and I barely use hydro, cept when I use this comp. I never "littered" in years too. I respect the planet i'm on, don't get me wrong. Its beared me in her arms my whole life, given me water, air, etc to live. But this whole "global warming is coming, buy this product now that it has a green logo! and this! oh and this! buy 10!" thing is driving me nuts
That's a nice big chunky electric motor, I like.

Where does electricity come from, well most people know it comes from burning
coal, tons and tons of the stuff, not very green or eco friendly..
what happens when the batteries run flat on the motorways/ highway where some retired person forgot to fully charge their milkfloat.
Also these battery cars are dangerous to kids who won't hear it comming before
an impact, same for blind people. These battery cars when charging put out as
much if not more co% than average petrol cars.

@Hummers222 ; carry more than one person in a battery car and it will be inefficent,

@getsafe1212 ; No fat friends i'm not American, i can't understand why
americans are embracing battery cars when you are used to suv gas junkies..
You burn up all oil reserves and then expect every other nation to embrace your
battery powered Lotus, in the Uk we have a large retired population, these people
will buy coal powered battery cars and forget to fully charge them or leave their
lights on, then proceed to run flat on the Highway/ Motorway causing mayhem.
And Nuclear power no way.
alfistii1 1 year ago
@getsafe1212 ; Carry a passenger in America you'd be lucky to get off the drive.
People in Britain have not yet reached epic proportions, unlike the U.S...
Although worryingly i have noticed a steady increase in young wobbly females in
the Uk, and it seems to be acceptable in that generation, so obesity is on the way.
Thats another reason for ditching the battery idea and finding something more
realistic.....

We have discovered hundreds of years of oil reserves that makes the claim of scarcity absurd. Problems arises when not all oil is as easily drilled as it is in northern Iraq.

The CNG Honda Civic
pollutes than a Prius, too! :)

However, I think that Nikola Tesla was brilliant and if they can find a way to make the Tesla turbine car financially available to the average person I think that it would be very useful. why dont they put an air duct somewhere on the hood with a turbine inside which could be used to recapture some of the energy from moving forward and recharge the battery?
mooton 2 years ago
Because it would be using an excessive amount of energy to power the car in order to make the turbine spin.
If your idea was possible, which it probably will some day, you would have invented the "infinity-machine" :)
Basseman88 2 years ago
No I didnt mean use a turbine as the only power source I mean use it to help recharge the battery to get extended range like regenerative braking does.
mooton 2 years ago
No, read what i wrote. It's a dead end to do this. You would only use the turbine when slowing down and at this point the regenerative breaking will be more effecient in generating electricity back to the battery.
Basseman88 2 years ago
not necessarily, it's relative to the torque required to turn the rotor... also if you put it on the back side of the car over the trunk it's not creating additional friction. Utilizing vawt based turbine on it's side seems the way to go... something like a squirrel cage ....you could actually build this for less than $100 to recharge atleast one battery with old hard disk(magnets).. blower fan and some copper wire you could even afford to put iron core into the coils on the stator

NISSAN LEAF is be better. TESLA is dead right now. You see, developing a "electric sports car" was just wrong.

kalinturo 2 years ago
Well there is a long waiting list to get one. So maybe they are on the right track?
klingerman11 2 years ago
You have to understand a couple of things. Tesla had no factory. So limited production. The huge research cost needed to be paid off. The Roadster help promote EVs.
Now they are working on building the 50k Model S. Next the 20 to 30k car.
Tesla is building next-gen EVs.
Nissan made a simple one hundred mile EV. Anyone can do that. But most don't.
ratryu 2 years ago
to produce electricity you have to burn coal, which is three times more polutant than oil, just imagine all electric cars being pluged at night to charge those huge batteries, cali would blackout at night.
inspktr51 2 years ago
Earthlinked 2 years ago
I think you should do more research we do have a tesla dealer in Wa. and this is very close to the final products itll set you back 100 grand tough. so i really don't see the savings, electric cars are not cheap specially exotic ones.
inspktr51 2 years ago
You are partially right, producing energy can also polute but its a lot more efficient than producing gas which requires not only burn oil but process it and transport it, all that makes burning gas a lot worst for the environment. Check the leaf site even with the worst efficient energy source is 60% cleaner than gas.
abernalestevez 2 years ago
Even though that this i true, you have to consider the fact that the efficiency of turning coal into electricity is still much high then petrol used in a combustion engine.
The modern and latest combustion engine have, at very best, an effeciency of 30%. The electric motor has an efficiency exceeding 90% and rising.
Driving one mile in an electric car with the electricity sourced directly from coal are still poluted less than driving the same mile in the most effecient petrol/diesel/hybrid car
Basseman88 2 years ago
I am confused... This vehicle does not have carbon emissions, sure. However when the batteries have run their life where are we going to store the large amounts of chemical waste?

I love environmentally friendly technological innovations; wish I was clever enough to devise a way for people to power their autos and get high speed internet access using their own feces. But the notion of man has / will continue to alter the climate, and the effect of which will be disasterous, is just plain wrong. In fact the proponets have it backwards. CO2 levels are a byproduct of tempurature change, not the driver. The sun is the driver with its seasonal and lifecycle fluctuations.

Unfortunately, solar panels of that size would be incapable of making any notable charge on the batteries. All they could hope to do would be a trickle charge. And while that is nice for a regular battery (to keep it topped off), it would not be worthwhile on something like this.

the only mistake i see these upstart companies making is pricing their product far above the price all but a few people are willing to pay. they should take a few notes from henry ford, get some venture capital that is willing to wait a while for ROI, and offer a car that the average car buyer can afford. i assure you that demand will outstrip production and profits will come rolling in once things get going.

eXPerienceyeah 2 years ago
Here in British Columbia, BC Hydro's residential rates would make a full recharge of the Tesla Roadster cost less than a dollar Canadian. Do some research before being a twit.
chopcraft 2 years ago
Not only should solar panels be implemented into these cars, but also high output alternators connected to the axles as well as wind powered turbines. That way you're using the air around you as a charger as well as your forward momentum driving the alternators.
VincentReborn 2 years ago
Vincent you doofus, connecting alternators and turbines to the car would give it LESS range, not more. It takes power to turn an alternator, and turbines cause drag. You can get a little back by using alternators as brakes, but it is minimal because the time spent braking is minimal to the time spent driving.

if you check out their other videos the 2nd generation car they are working on now is in the $50,000 range, and their intentions are to get the 3rd generation down to $30,000 range.
However, they better hurry as aptiva is already starting to produce a limited number of electric cars and they sell for about $28,000.

It's called Aptera, not aptiva

The Tesla car is a $109,000 car!!!!!!!!!!
AS USUAL - they MUST have the profit NOW - but nobody will see it/drive it - too expensive!!!
Sell them from $50,000 - GET THEM ON THE ROAD - then (as GM does) spike the price!!

With the current dollar price everyone will be able to buy these cars for a few €'s in a while xD

Despite the fact that my post was a clear nod to South Park I thank you for clearing that up.
