Good luck trying to accumulate enough assets to generate more then a measly rate of return. By the time you dealt with paying off mortgage, your expenses, retirement, car loans, etc. You have very little profit thus generating a very small distribution of income. You can only cut down your expenses so much and your pay cheque (income) has to be pretty heafty - easier said then done.
