dude shut the fuck up, scholz and brad where best friends dumb fuck, if you are one of those who think scholz caused all this then you should be ashamed for that... and open your eyes
The hurt and sad artist hiding behind a smile. Filled with goodness and care in his heart. With so many glowing with the same memories of the way he carried himself, he showed his true character. A tragic example of the "good one's" collecting too much baggage along the way...it is truly sad.
Thank you for the voice that brought so many of us joy.
I still can't believe it almost 2 years later...Jeez Brad, you were engaged to be married in a few months, how is she doing now, I am wondering? That poor girl, I feel so bad for her.
Do some research. Alot has been written about her. Look up Pamela Sullivan Delp. (Although they never married) She had an affair and Brad moved her into an apartment. She was out all night partying when he did it. Much more but you will see for yourself.
Tom did nothing to anybody . Brad was his own man on this , as sad as it is . It is CRUEL to say Tom had anything to do with this . If your best friend committed suicide , how would you feel if people started pointing the finger at you and said it was YOUR fault ? Wise Up JIMMYWACKED .
You're so right. That Tom bore the brunt of this tragedy -- the blame, is an awfully hurtful thing. Tom would never have hurt Brad in any way -- he loved him like a brother.
People have trouble in their lives everyday and still get up the next morning.
I know someone that knew Brad and they said that they NEVER EVER heard Brad say anything remotely negative about Tom. Brad and Tom were friends for over 30 years. If he didn't want to be there, Brad wouldn't have came back after the Walk On album.
I have an interview he did with a station in new hampshire WSHK1021 FM just 2 DAYS before he commited suicide. He was talking about the Beatles, upcoming Beatlejuice gig on the 16th, the motorcycle crash he had, the Boston tour coming up, and his engagement. You could have never even thought this was a man that was so depressed that he no longer wanted to live. What happened the night before or even that morning to give him the determination to go through with it?
It isn't productive (or wise) to speculate about something only Brad knows for sure. He didn't want to be here any more, so he left. Why do you speculate and scratch your heads so much? It's really not complicated.
Beetlejuice was awesome, I saw them a few times at Johnny Dee's in Somerville, I talked to Brad once, just for a few minutes, awesome cool guy. This guy sold out stadiums, he did this because he loved rock n roll and The Beatles, he used to say it.
The way I see it, he probably was on meds. That was his demise. Once a doctor gets a hold of you, you might as well forget it.
Depressioin drugs are all about money. People need to start learning how to deal with depression naturally, the way God intended, not with doctors. I deal with depression everyday, without doctors............
I think the difficulty with depression is that there is not a "cure-all" for people. Everyone is different. My wife, w/o them, in a matter of weeks falls into clinical depression. She even tried suicide after not being on Paxil for 3 months and was depressed. She failed to commit suicide and was admitted to a hospital where she was given Paxil again and in a matter of 4-5 weeks, was fully recovered. To her, Paxil is like insulin for a diabetic, w/o it, she gets sick in a matter of weeks.
Also, what's tricky is being on the right meds and the right dose. I have a friend, like you, took several types of antidepressants w/o efficacy. Finally, he takes a combination of Paxil and Zoloft and is fine now for several years.
We know that depression is a real disease, how to treat it is still not clear, but what works for some, may not work for all as in any disease treatment.
Same here. And I'm doing fine. I think it is perfectly natural to be depressed or melancholic every so often. The meds can be deadly, because everyone's chemistry is different. The same way they discovered Paxil made teenagers suicidal.
It makes no sense. He looks like he was having a great time. What happend to make him want to kill himself? He must have thought about it quite a bit as it was so carefully thought out and planned. I'm almost convinced he didn't do it as in someone forced him to do it. I just don't understand it.......
the secret to a good life is knowing when your through...i was fortunate to have saw boston 3 times in my 38 years on earth and through therapy learn to live and love again, rest brad, rest.
The mind is a fragile yet complex part of our existence. Only Brad Knew Why! Pray and give thanks for his contibution to all of our lives. Man I'll Never Be was to me their greatest coposition. Was it a prophecy?
Its great to see his last documented performance doing what he probably loved most, enjoying beatles with a small group, having a great time. RIP Bradley
i wish that right after this, he went to a doctor and received the therapy and medication that he needed. He could have just took a plane to rural Montana and found a cabin and just hid from it all and cleansed his brain until he was ready to return. Suicide is never an answer to anything!
Just days before commiting suicide? Why and how could he put on a show and days later be so desparate to commit suicide? It makes no sense and I'm angry about what he left behind.
What else that's new can be said about Brad ? -he was admired by so many people. He was simply brilliant, and I've discovered a kind and humble guy too. The beauty and power of his voice has graced the airwaves for thirty years. I don't expect to see his rival.
How truly awful this loss comes to his fans...like me. Oh, I had not forgotten Brad. I remember I was on cloud nine when "Third Stage" was released in '86. THE man was back !
wonder why he topped himself?...I mean, he had it all...still a big star in America, albeit from yesteryear but still popular...great voice and talent...yet he killed himself...very strange...
I was lucky enough to see Beatlejuice down the street from my house a number of times. He would recognize me at shows and say "hi" and give me a hug. Just a real nice guy. I hope he knows how much he was loved.
How I wish I could've seen him perform in a club. I only saw him with Boston in 15,000 - 20,000 crowds in So Cal in the 70's and 80's. Dude can f'n sing. R.I.P. Mr. Delp.
Brad Delp is the reason I DID NOT become a singer, and decided to stick with guitar :) If I didnt admire the guy so much, I'd hate him for having that much talent! RIP brother
I can attest to those exact sentiments. I can cite few singers who have changed my life the way he has. The only ones to do so were him, Steve Perry, Freddy Mercury, Paul Stanley, Steve Augeri, Robert Fleischman, Steve Augeri, Lou Gramm and Fran Cosmo. It's a real shame that Cosmo was sued by Scholz. He's the only other member who could hold a candle to Brad.
A true loss to the world. I am touched that someone who made such a musical impact in his own right still got pleasure from covering his favorite band The Beatles. Wish you eternal peace. Thank you for the years of perfect melody.
that was as awesome as erie, being one of the last videos of Brad, Imet him & barry @ the Hard Rock in Boston, during the D&G album release, he truely is the anti rocker, he is just plain talented. R.I.P
I became a fan of Boston because of Brad and his tremendous talent. I cannot believe how broke up I am about his passing. Rest in peace, man. You were the best ever.
Brad Delp was without a doubt one of the finest voices in modern rock and roll music. Boston was without a doubt one of the most talented and innovative rock and roll bands of all time.
If anyone from Mr. Delp's family would like the original video from this performance on 3-2-2007 send me a message and I will get it to you. The original is in much cleaner digital format, and it should rightfully belong to you, ~Kevin
A beautiful sentiment kstrange. The family will heartfeltly appreciate it. The guy in this footage and the "rock star" we knew seem like two different people. And yet he was the same everywhere and with everybody.
Boston was one part Brad Delp and one part Tom Scholz. Scholz unfortunately forgot this back in the early 90's and brought in the scrub, Fran Cosmo.
If there was ever a better voice in rock and roll--and a better gentleman--I cannot imagine who it'd be.
Along with the sense of loss I feel today for a hero's passing, I feel that somehow, we should have been able to hear so much more of that voice and that guitar. I'm thankful for what we got, but jeez....
Unbelievable. He was fine---and now, one week later, he's gone. Rock has lost one of its most spectacular voices. Thank you so much, Brad. May you rest in peace.
The question now is this....will Tom Scholz, worried about now having no lead singer, crawl back to Fran Cosmo? They split ways when Tom told him and his bro they were no longer needed. Fran should say "fuck off"!
The Cosmos and that chick bassist never fit in with Boston. The Cosmos should Thank Tom for giving them what no other human ever would: a chance to travel the world in a major rock band! Tom Deserves 100% of the blame for not reuniting the classic lineup before it was too late! He has to live with that now! But the Cosmos should think of it as a "Tour with Boston" contest that they won, thank Tom for giving it to them, and then just shut up!
Happy to the end doing what he loved...Christ what more can ya ask for? And ain't it serendipitous that maybe in the last video we have of the man he's singing about beginnings. Peace to ya Brad. So few bring so much to so many.
Search on Beatlejuice to see some simply awesome performances.
God, what a tragedy. He was much too young! R.I.P. Brad... you were the consummate rock vocalist and all around great person! You'll never know how influential and revered you were...
God bless one of the great voices of rock from the past 30 years. And to think he devoted so much of himself to the Beatles legacy when his own music more than held it's own. I remember going to the beach in the summer of 76 when the debut album was literally the soundtrack of our summer. Congrats to Kstrange for being in the right place at the right time. Brad's family may want a copy of this footage. How ironic.
