@boy18inva No actually, to a ten year kid old this movie was very scary! We didn't realize how fake it was. In the 50s there were a lot worse monster movies than this. Today people don't appreciate fear because they've become immune to all the special effects on the screen. Back then you had to use your own imagination a little bit.

I read somewhere that the actors in this movie weren't shown during the production how the "Giant Claw" would look. When the premier was shown, they were so mortified by the cheesy look of the "monster" that they slunk out of the theater trying not to be seen.

I saw this movie at the drive-in with my parents and siblings when I was about 7 or 8 and it literally scared the shit of me. When I got a chance to see it again as an adult, I had to laugh because it was then I noticed the fishing line and just how silly and ridiculous the bird looks. Young kids should not watch movies that are scary as it can affect them way into adulthood.
