  • man this is like a speeded up version of the one i know

  • This is amazing... And this is my first time ever hearing Chet Atkins

  • @nvs617 Hundreds of other ear treats where that came from. I envy you! I wish i was once again back over forty years ago listening to my first Chet record! What a glorious, magical place to be!

  • @daffydoug Oh, and btw. this was from his solo sessions album, which means Chet most likely recorded this first thing after arising, (in his home studio) maybe even before he had his morning coffee. Yes, he was THAT good.

  • @daffydoug.....my sincere appreciation for sharing your collection with all the many Chester fans.....so nice to listen and listen....

  • I just saw Tommy Emmanuel and his brother play this last night in NYC. Killed it as usual. Much respect for all these guys!

  • @molly1246 Why can't you just listen to the music and leave the stupid politics out of it. God what an idiot.

  • undoubtably very good playing

  • @achzdck You just don't get it do you? Imagine you are listening to an instrumental played so close to perfection as to lift the soul. At the conclusion you want to pay respect to the artist . As you begin to post you happen to see a previous posting which after reading makes you wonder how a person could be so devoid of human decency. My hope is that some day you posess the ability to judge your actions .

  • Where could i find an audio file of this song... or any of his songs... i would love to put some of his music on my ipod so i could listen to him whenever :)

  • The most beautiful arrangement I have ever heard. Thanks for posting it. The man was a geniuus, right up there with Les Paul. When you listen to his guitar you can literally hear the lyrics of the song. Paul Sisney

  • Oh..Ya'..!

  • theres one on ultimate guitar, its very close but you need guitar pro

  • a true master end of !!!

  • awsome

  • man i must be naive. never noticed the bush resemblence. thanks for pointing out the now obvious, for me.

  • @elletsco

    he does look like Busch

  • @flapjack914 if you're Stevie Wonder

  • I'm a Huge Chet fan. But he does kinda look like bush

  • @flapjack914 you mean bush looks like chet.

  • this man is extremely talented. it is rare that guitarists with his skill level play beautiful acoustic songs instead of shredding on electric or anything else, and it's a damn shame.

  • CHET ATKINS FREAKS. No more talks of the Bushes on a page of such a respectable man.

  • @Fade9150 well, as I sit here day after day watching videos BECAUSE THE FACTORY I WORKED AT SHUT DOWN and I have nothing else to do,, I think I can speak for millions--- I'm worse off now then I was when Bush was President.......

  • @Prowler609 My factory shut down, too. That's why I had all the free time to post the videos.

  • Thanks for this video... I've always loved this piece.

  • This is not george Bush!!!!!

    how insulting!

  • Doc Watson has an even greater resemblance to the former POTUS.

  • who's doc watson? lol

  • we'd be lucky if the real W knows what a guitar is :s

  • George W. plays guitar, actually. Carvin Guitars made him a unique acoustic guitar with a presidential seal design on the body.

  • that's cool!

  • Now that is a master guitar player - forever and always!!!

  • I haven't ever seen anyone who can play this song this well at this speed. Chet is the master RIP.

  • Bojangles was one of his signature arrangements. I'm sure Chet could have played this literally with his eyes closed in his sleep!

I remember seeing him live in concert in '89. this was the very first tune he played, and he did it at a very brisk tempo!

  • Wow what I would pay to see him play this live... So this is his main song then?

  • It was one of his "signature tunes" (Tunes that he was uniquely identified with.)

  • I cant seem to find the tab or sheet music of the exact way he plays it here. You know here I can find that?

  • To my knowledge it's not available.

  • Aww man, maybe a guitar teacher could 'work it out', so we could play this thing exactly liek he does.

  • i got it if you want it, hwat's your e-mail?

  • @daffydoug It is avaiable in a booklet that comes with the DVD Chet Atkins rare performances 1955-1975

  • @daffydoug We can find all on the web :)

    Google is your friend

  • @MysticWhizz ultimate-guitar(dot)com has all of his music and much more of many other's music very accurately transcribed for free if you download tux guitar, which is free and it only took me 7 megabyte's. It makes all that guitar pro and power tab stuff free without having to pay 50 bucks for the original software, and it has all the same great things as guitar pro and tux guitar but you get both for the price of ZERO dollars!!

  • Got a GuitarPro 5 file that comes close... can send you either the file or a scan of print out of the tabs?

  • Comment removed

  • @MysticWhizz I can get the tabs but youtube wont let me post the link.

  • @MysticWhizz @MysticWhizz if you watch tthe other mr.bojangles clip on here, it's a little slower and then just adapt it and listen for what's different. If you try to train your ears man, it'll be better for you than tab like :D. Good Luck :D

  • @MysticWhizz The tabs is in fact available on the DVD The Guitar Of Chet Atkins taught by Chet Atkins. It is available in a booklet that comes with the DVD. There are some embellishments in this take though that are obviously not included. But the arrangment written by Chet himself is written out in sheetmusic and tab.

  • @MysticWhizz Mel Bay has a song book that has it, not sure if it's this exact version though, he also explains a slower arrangement on the guitar or chet atkins tape (also from mel bay I think) that sounds pretty much the same, you would chust need to learn it and speed it up.

  • @MysticWhizz this version seems pretty close...

  • @MysticWhizz go to ultimate-guitarDOTcom and search the song ... click on the bob dylan version transcribed in chords and it will tell you the chords he breaks down in order to play this ... this will give you a basis on what he is doing and the fingering should come easily

  • words are meaningless....

  • good pikin

  • this man can play the guitar!!!! that's for sure

  • He was undeniably the master!

  • purely class

  • In a '90s interview, Chet Atkins recalled meeting Ted Nugent:

    Atkins:

"That guy in Detroit that plays - that Ted Nugent. I was down at Hard Rock (Cafe) for the opening about six or eight years ago and he was there. I liked him right off," Atkins said. "He walked up to me and he said, `My old man brought home one of your records when I was a kid and I played it and that's why I'm a guitar player.' "

interview by Jim Patterson, Associate Press, 1996.

  • Sorry, typo.

    'was'='has'

  • ...sorry, but the irony of that situation made me have to reply.

Your point still stands, but I find it very amusing.

  • Amazing that, aside from "Buckethead", he was a depressingly monosyllabic vocabulary.

I believe he even misspelled 'or'.

    bushgbh= F- -

  • impressive!

  • awesome.

  • simply...thank you

  • Yes, i would agree that this is Chet's best arrangement.
