I turned nine the summer of '73. Baseball was magical to me back then, as it is for many boys between the time we learn to read a box score and discover girls. Researching this book gave me the thrill that comes in middle age when one connects with a youthful passion. I hope I've been able to pass that along to readers.

Wonderfully poignant excerpt, but assuming you're far too young to have been present in 1973 how were you able to construct the scene?
