Is it just me or does most of the routine look just like the one Jabbawokeez did on the first season of ABDC, the MJ tribute one? I know it's mostly MJ moves, but the sequence looks VERY familiar. Just sayin' :)

@Unqle you got it all wrong. It's because this is the dance style called "locking". Jabbawokeez put a little bit of this style in their PYT routine on ABDC. They are not "MJ moves" like you've seem to imply. Locking started before MJ. In fact, MJ learned how to lock from the old lockers. In locking, there are certain moves that will always show up & that's why the sequence in this video & in the Jabbawokeez routine look similar. You're seeing the same moves, but not sequence.

Breaking to funk like James Brown, Jimmy Castor Band, etc. Which is funk. Hip hop originated from Funk. Locking is normally done to funk music, which hip hop derives from. @Archetypal I'm not young & I get my knowledge from the pioneers of these dance styles 1st hand. Go ask Pete, Wiggles, Link, Stretch, Caleaf, Sugapop, and any of the original lockers if "locking is hip hop?" and they'll all tell you "no". Influenced? sure, but part of the dance style? no. The pioneers are quite adament about this view. It's pretty available, even on YouTube. I'm doing my hw getting 1st hand knowledge from the pioneers. Maybe it's time you do yours.
