  • this train looks like it is heading to Sydney??

  • @clayton4115 No it's heading west

  • I had a look in the cab of an NR Class loco when I was down under and I must say that they're much better than anything I drive here in the UK, such as Class 66s for example.

  • What company built the mighty NR class ? How much horsepower do they have ?

  • NR Class, together with other Australian locos given in-

    locopage(dot)railpage(dot)org(dot)au/

    Otherwise, do a Google search-

    nr class locomotive

    Hope helps

  • @wlaohu Goninans now United goninan rail. Under licence from GE U.S.A - fitted with 4400hp 16cylinder 7FDL engines - de rated to 4000hp due to adhesion issues with outr locosmotives being lighter than the U.S counterparts.

  • @aussietraindriver Thanks for the info there on the NR class locomotives power output. There's a certain sound they make at times while moving that sounds like a turbine cutting in. A little similar to an electric trains air compressor running.

  • @wlaohu The NR class locos are fitted with electric 3 piston compressors. not mechanicallly driven compressors like EMD units.

  • Nice clag 0:43-0:46
