The Sherman was a death trap, but apparently the best tank the Allies had. The Germans were so far ahead of the Allies in armored technology it was sick. Our guys could only die bravely when up against the Tiger tanks.
@fliegeroh Wasn't the Tiger Tank a failure tank though? would get easily stuck on mud, could basically only move through roads, was extremely costly, difficult to repair. Ergonomically a bad tank.
@Gruppenfuhrer1944 I gladly had until you brought me back here with your pointless comment. At least mine was relevant to the video. You go wank over your tank porn now.
You can talk what you want but Germany was super power. Their soldiers were so brave, I say this after few hundreds watched videos of Wehrmacht. How many states needed to defeat one Germany? 5, 6, 7, 10, 20? Heil Deutschland!
@MaxPayne719 and what does germany do? the only war ever lost was to the Vietnamese and that only happened because they had russia giving them and unlimited supply of guns and ammo
surely? okay, remember ww2, Hamburg and Dresden , only bombing civilains with fire bombs and etc, north corea, the same , vietnam, the same , iraq same and in all these wars , i not think that the usa is the "victorius" power
@MaxPayne719 bombing civilians is one way of breaking the countries morale which will cause the people to want the war to be over faster which in turn causes less support from the people
@MaxPayne719 are you aware that the US Airforce lost thousands of airmen over germany because they were flying during the day, trying to hit industrial targets? the brits were the one that carpedbombed the civilians during nighttime.

@Baconmaster92 Yes, that's the most important thing, we are allies. I promise you not all Americans think of Hitler and Nazi when Germany is mentioned. The German people have contributed a whole lot of technologies and scientific progresses to build the world we are living in right now; unfortunately, it's often overlooked and overshadowed by Nazism.

@DemocraticOrder Without a doubt, plus they had barely any air support. At the beginning nobody had air support , but as the weather cleared allied fighter bombers rained down on the Germans. @DemocraticOrder Thank you man, Nice to see a war video where everyone is discussing opnions and such.. Yes , I do agree that Germany was a very strong , smart , tenacious , brave society. @askjiir Okay i thought it was "So so". Pretty cool how they went from the animated soldiers , to the real life images. Anyhow , this show is strictly for newbies just learning about ww2 and its battles. I give it a 6.5 out of 10
@askjiir Agree. Watch good ol' "Battlefield" instead. These modern "documentaries" are, sadly, more focused on dramatic effect rather than factual and historic accuracy. You never really learn anything about the battles concerned as the detail level is non-existant.
the constant editing, graphics and cheesy ott narration is awful . its that bad you'd almost think this was a piss take .shame on you history channel .
13:13 Wood and Eddy had been at each other for months. Eddy "Wood general Patton wants us to get moving the 4th was to be mobile 8hours ago." Wood "they need rest can you tell Patton that?" Patton comes over Patton "WHATS GOING ON HERE I gave you an order Jack get your men up the road" Wood "they need rest George Edd has been keeping me here too long" 14:00 Patton "This is mutiny Wood take your feud and can it YOUR FIRED I will now relieve you of command." the 4th had no leader.
3:13 is that a Swastika I see painted on that Sherm turns out the Nazis stole it. take it out Leach show those Nazis they have no right stealing our tanks.
@VonCurry8 Yes. Its a simplistic and wrong way to look at history. The Heer was not all Nazi and in fact many were trying to assassinate Hitler while fighting the Americans and British. This blanket term is not only historically inaccurate but also rather harmful to understanding the complex nature that wars have. Good vs evil is hardly ever the case, it's better to think of it as evil vs less evil.
The "Battle of the Bulge" was a disaster from the start. The Allies could have gave the Axis lands and just wait till the Germans run out of Fuel. Also what made the Axis war machine so great was the Luftwaffe, It was mostly wiped out by 1944. The Allies had full control over Air and endless resources,man-power that the Axis could only dream about.
@martynrobin121 also, in world war 1 and early in world war 2, germany pushed through the lowlands of belgium, luxembourg, and holland, so that would lead to believe that they would attack through there
@Davis4037 In the Great War, Germany invaded Belgium and then pushed in2 France that is the reason Britain got involved, In WW2 the Germans done the same, However ther main Forces came from the Ardennes and trapped the main French Forces & BEF. In 1944, Hitler done the same as he did 1940 however he had weak concript army and the main power of Blitzreig, Luftwaffe had been mostly wiped out. The Axis were in no shape to advance.
@soldeir12 During the Great war 1914-1918, Britain declared war on Germany because of the invasion of Beglium & France. During World war 2, Britain declared war on Germany because Hitler had refused to withdraw from Poland. Also the Axis powers were taking over parts of Asia & Africa and then Europe, It was time for a nation 2 stand up and fight for freedom, British & Empire, And even the French stood up and fought for little while, and give there freedom so other could gain thers!
@martynrobin121 i thought they had an agreement with Germany that Hitler can keep Poland as long as he doesnt try anything else, but lil hitler got greedy!
@mrfrosty8172 NO! In 1938, The British & French gave the Germans certain lands they had lost during the Great War, In the Munich Treaty- Hitler signed & agreed not to invade any nation. However the Germans broke the treaty and occupied Czech 1938. During 1939, The Germans then invaded Poland and the British gave the Germans a last chance of peace and ask them to withdraw, The Germans refused to leave and started the war. Hitlers gambles backfired! Hitler sold Poland & E.Europe to Stalin.
@rabies79 The Soviets won the war, And played the biggest role during WW2. Yes the Red Army at the start of the war made foolish mistakes and lost over 4million in the first few months. However the Red Army could recover from its massive defeats. Zuckov was the man, From Moscow-Stalingrad-Kursk,etc,etc. Stalin was just like Hitler, However Stalin was smart he knew how to play people like puppets. Hitler was a typical common swine you could read him like abook after 1939.
@martynrobin121 Soviet allways made those foolish mistakes, My grandfather told me that in both the Finnish winter war and the continuation war he could se hundreds, even thousends of them just running into MG nest... Stalin was a was not smart, he killed many good generals and killed more people than Hitler could ever do. Soviet did not play the biggest role during WW2, Germany did, in the gearman defeat Soviet did, hitler was smart, he built a nation from practicly nothing!
@martynrobin121 Stalin was a fool. He left his armies unprepared and refused to see that Hitler was about to stab him in the back. He ignored the advice of generals and intelligence officers and was almost knocked out during Barbarossa as a result, at which point he panicked and did nothing for several days during key moments of the initial offensive. He then ordered botched counter attacks. The Soviets survived thanks to US and British charity view lend-lease.
@suspicious35 The Red Army played the main role during World war 2 by far, Also the Soviet Industry was huge they could produce their own war effort. Infact the only thing the Soviets needed was trucks from the Allies and Info. From the very start of Operation Barberossa the Blitzreig had failed, The Red Army would make the Axis bleed for every street & City, Over 6 Milllion Axis troops and 10Million Red Army troops died on the Eastern Front 1941-45. The massive Red Army was unstoppable
@martynrobin121 With tanks, I will agree that the USSR had an amazing military industrial complex. However, they weren’t so good at producing trucks in large numbers. The Soviets used American trucks to supply their counter offensives and as platforms for rockets and other weapons. More importantly, US grain kept Soviet factory workers and soldiers fed after the Germans captured almost all the USSR’s fertile land. Without this, starvation would have crippled the Soviet military and industry.
@suspicious35 Yes, I agree the Trucks from the Allies were the most vital. Also the Soviets had an Army of 16million to feed and supply, Logistical nightmare twice the size of the Allied Armies. Please remember the trade & loans was vital for American interests, Also the the Eastern Front was a lifeline to the British on the West fronts. The British had to give the Soviets supplies, etc it was in their best interests. Without the Axis would rule the world not NATO/United nations, etc.
@martynrobin121 Even if the Soviets got no aid from the Allies, the Germans would not have been able to conquer the entire USSR it's just too damn big. From middle Poland to the Pacific, it's just not feasible. However, the Germans could have conquered the west and then starved and bombed and rest. However, I don't think it would have made a difference because America would have simply used nuclear weapons to annihilate Germany. The Strategic bombing was bad enough.
@suspicious35 The Allies were always going to trade & give loans to the Soviets, The British were over extended and fighting on too many fronts, Operation Barberossa was everything the British sent Weapons,Info,Resources also the US was happy to make more profit and it was in ther best interests. Without the Red Army or British the war would have been lost. The strategic bombing of Germany was mostly ineffective and criminal act. Nuclear weapons are just cowardly.
@martynrobin121 We didn't trade, we gave. The USA made no monetary profit from gifts given to the Soviet Union. Also, is body armor cowardly? How about tanks are they cowardly? Is winning a war cowardly? I'd say letting any concerns that don't involve reaching objectives and lowering casualties to interfere with the waging of war is unmilitary.
@suspicious35 The US did trade and make profit & even territory gains, etc. It was in 1941, When American interests were at risk did they "give" loans. Also lowering casualties where? You do realise the Axis were begging the British for peace, The Japanese were only fighting for better Oil deals. How about asking for peace-talks instead of total surrender and hand over of honor and occupation? Countless millions would have been saved.
@martynrobin121, The Axis weren't begging the British for peace, rather they were trying to destroy Britain & the USSR. USA didn't make profits from the war, & I hate to tell you, even the USSR had a monetary war budget, as did the Nazis & everyone else. USA traded with the other Allies & neutrals, not the Axis. The Lend Lease program wasn't designed to make money but to help the other Allies at a very low cost in money & exchange materials.
@christof139 Lend lease was created because the United States didnt want to get fully involved in the war, and if the U.S gave a ton of weapons for nothing to the alllied powers, then germany was going to declare war on the United States. You have to realize at this point in time, no one wanted to see another World War I, thus we were still an isolationist nation. Roosevelt saw that if England fell the next country to be attacked would be the United States.
@christof139 During the war, Hitler begged the British for peace(Great offers) The US made alot of Profit & territory gains from the War just research.
The lendlease 1941, Was to protect American interests and help defeat their enemies. It was in the best interests of America, Not Britain.
Hitler wanted peace with Britain, And to destroy communism and expand East.
The British gave the Soviet a lendlease and FREE trade during both wars, The Russains got everything for FREE.
@martynrobin121 Not really, because we would have had to fight Japan again. Just as the Entente's failure to insist on unconditional surrender during WWI doomed them to fight Germany again.
@suspicious35 it was a reaction on a comment in which you were talking that some things were cowardice and that some things had to be like that in the military otherwise it wouldnt be the military, i only reacted because i felt that some things are never right, and a war crime is one of those things, and commiting war crimes is not only wrong, i felt that only cowards would do such things (this of course is how you look at it)
@5seba56 I'd say the willingess to be brutal and heartless hasn't much do to with courage or cowardice. Think about the reverse of your statement. If war criminals are cowards would you say that anyone who can't handle combat is a war criminal?
@adobo777 The Germans were able to produce MORE under Allied bombing than in peace-time, What does that honestly tell you? Speer was amaster-mind. The Bombing, Helped the Axis killed countless millions of undesirables who starved to death thanks the Allies bombing Supplies routes, POWs been starved to death. Europeans been starved to death. The bombing killed millions of innocents, And proved ineffective to destroy the German economy, Speer said bombing made the Germans work faster
@martynrobin121 They were not producing as much as they could and still lost most of their equipments and mterials to allied bombings.
Of course you're not going to be producing as much war equipment in peace as you would in a war, but that would require some common sense to fathom.
Sure, work faster, but produce that you need to win when your short on materials and manpower (note that Speer used slave labour to try and mend that fact) is an obvious "No".
@martynrobin121 correct but the Nazis had ammo and lots of it see what they did at 3:14 they stole a Sherm and painted a Swastika on it good thing they blew it up those Nazis have no right stealing out tanks.
@usterdboy - Patton was probably the best U.S. General and I would be surprised if anyone with any military knowledge would have called him an idiot. He wanted to land at Pas De Calais because it was the shortest route to Berlin and he wanted to end the war fast. Had Patton had control of the Italian Campaign it would never have bogged down under his leadership. When Ike wanted Patton to get involved in Italy to speed up the advance Gen.Mark Clark said he would resign if Patton did.
The battalion first saw combat on 7 November 1944,The unit endured 183 days of continuous operational employment.
In November 1944 the unit had suffered 156 casualties; 24 men killed, 88 wounded, and 44 non-battle. The unit also lost 14 tanks and another 20 damaged in combat. In December, the battalion was rushed to the aid of the 101st Airborne Division at Bastogne. the unit opened the way for the U.S. 4th Armored , where they met with Ukrainians of the Soviet Army.
@SuperFinnish well no cuz stalin was saying hitler would not do that cuz the 2 had a pact of no war. if the sovjets did not have that we allw ere prepared and german would get slaughterd

@VonCurry8 If they’re fighting SS forces, that is appropriate. Otherwise I agree with you it’s lame and historically inaccurate.
suspicious35 2 months ago

The Allies had full control over Air and endless resources,man-power that the Axis could only dream about.
martynrobin121 3 months ago
@martynrobin121 also, in world war 1 and early in world war 2, germany pushed through the lowlands of belgium, luxembourg, and holland, so that would lead to believe that they would attack through there
Davis4037 2 months ago
@Davis4037 In the Great War, Germany invaded Belgium and then pushed in2 France that is the reason Britain got involved, In WW2 the Germans done the same, However ther main Forces came from the Ardennes and trapped the main French Forces & BEF. In 1944, Hitler done the same as he did 1940 however he had weak concript army and the main power of Blitzreig, Luftwaffe had been mostly wiped out. The Axis were in no shape to advance.

soldeir12 2 months ago
@soldeir12 During the Great war 1914-1918, Britain declared war on Germany because of the invasion of Beglium & France. During World war 2, Britain declared war on Germany because Hitler had refused to withdraw from Poland. Also the Axis powers were taking over parts of Asia & Africa and then Europe, It was time for a nation 2 stand up and fight for freedom, British & Empire, And even the French stood up and fought for little while, and give there freedom so other could gain thers!

mrfrosty8172 2 months ago
@mrfrosty8172 NO! In 1938, The British & French gave the Germans certain lands they had lost during the Great War, In the Munich Treaty- Hitler signed & agreed not to invade any nation. However the Germans broke the treaty and occupied Czech 1938. During 1939, The Germans then invaded Poland and the British gave the Germans a last chance of peace and ask them to withdraw, The Germans refused to leave and started the war. Hitlers gambles backfired! Hitler sold Poland & E.Europe to Stalin.

@martynrobin121 The soviet ones where even dumber
rabies79 2 months ago
@rabies79 The Soviets won the war, And played the biggest role during WW2. Yes the Red Army at the start of the war made foolish mistakes and lost over 4million in the first few months. However the Red Army could recover from its massive defeats. Zuckov was the man, From Moscow-Stalingrad-Kursk,etc,etc. Stalin was just like Hitler, However Stalin was smart he knew how to play people like puppets. Hitler was a typical common swine you could read him like abook after 1939.
martynrobin121 2 months ago
@martynrobin121 Soviet allways made those foolish mistakes, My grandfather told me that in both the Finnish winter war and the continuation war he could se hundreds, even thousends of them just running into MG nest... Stalin was a was not smart, he killed many good generals and killed more people than Hitler could ever do. Soviet did not play the biggest role during WW2, Germany did, in the gearman defeat Soviet did, hitler was smart, he built a nation from practicly nothing!
rabies79 2 months ago
@martynrobin121 Stalin was a fool. He left his armies unprepared and refused to see that Hitler was about to stab him in the back. He ignored the advice of generals and intelligence officers and was almost knocked out during Barbarossa as a result, at which point he panicked and did nothing for several days during key moments of the initial offensive. He then ordered botched counter attacks. The Soviets survived thanks to US and British charity view lend-lease.
suspicious35 2 months ago
@suspicious35 The Red Army played the main role during World war 2 by far, Also the Soviet Industry was huge they could produce their own war effort. Infact the only thing the Soviets needed was trucks from the Allies and Info. From the very start of Operation Barberossa the Blitzreig had failed, The Red Army would make the Axis bleed for every street & City, Over 6 Milllion Axis troops and 10Million Red Army troops died on the Eastern Front 1941-45. The massive Red Army was unstoppable
martynrobin121 2 months ago
@martynrobin121 With tanks, I will agree that the USSR had an amazing military industrial complex. However, they weren’t so good at producing trucks in large numbers. The Soviets used American trucks to supply their counter offensives and as platforms for rockets and other weapons. More importantly, US grain kept Soviet factory workers and soldiers fed after the Germans captured almost all the USSR’s fertile land. Without this, starvation would have crippled the Soviet military and industry.
suspicious35 2 months ago
@suspicious35 Yes, I agree the Trucks from the Allies were the most vital. Also the Soviets had an Army of 16million to feed and supply, Logistical nightmare twice the size of the Allied Armies. Please remember the trade & loans was vital for American interests, Also the the Eastern Front was a lifeline to the British on the West fronts. The British had to give the Soviets supplies, etc it was in their best interests. Without the Axis would rule the world not NATO/United nations, etc.
martynrobin121 2 months ago
@martynrobin121 Even if the Soviets got no aid from the Allies, the Germans would not have been able to conquer the entire USSR it's just too damn big. From middle Poland to the Pacific, it's just not feasible. However, the Germans could have conquered the west and then starved and bombed and rest. However, I don't think it would have made a difference because America would have simply used nuclear weapons to annihilate Germany. The Strategic bombing was bad enough.
suspicious35 2 months ago
@suspicious35 The Allies were always going to trade & give loans to the Soviets, The British were over extended and fighting on too many fronts, Operation Barberossa was everything the British sent Weapons,Info,Resources also the US was happy to make more profit and it was in ther best interests. Without the Red Army or British the war would have been lost. The strategic bombing of Germany was mostly ineffective and criminal act. Nuclear weapons are just cowardly.
martynrobin121 2 months ago
@martynrobin121 We didn't trade, we gave. The USA made no monetary profit from gifts given to the Soviet Union. Also, is body armor cowardly? How about tanks are they cowardly? Is winning a war cowardly? I'd say letting any concerns that don't involve reaching objectives and lowering casualties to interfere with the waging of war is unmilitary.
suspicious35 2 months ago
@suspicious35 The US did trade and make profit & even territory gains, etc. It was in 1941, When American interests were at risk did they "give" loans. Also lowering casualties where? You do realise the Axis were begging the British for peace, The Japanese were only fighting for better Oil deals. How about asking for peace-talks instead of total surrender and hand over of honor and occupation? Countless millions would have been saved.
martynrobin121 2 months ago
@martynrobin121, The Axis weren't begging the British for peace, rather they were trying to destroy Britain & the USSR. USA didn't make profits from the war, & I hate to tell you, even the USSR had a monetary war budget, as did the Nazis & everyone else. USA traded with the other Allies & neutrals, not the Axis. The Lend Lease program wasn't designed to make money but to help the other Allies at a very low cost in money & exchange materials.
christof139 1 month ago
@christof139 Lend lease was created because the United States didnt want to get fully involved in the war, and if the U.S gave a ton of weapons for nothing to the alllied powers, then germany was going to declare war on the United States. You have to realize at this point in time, no one wanted to see another World War I, thus we were still an isolationist nation. Roosevelt saw that if England fell the next country to be attacked would be the United States.
HunterD510 1 month ago
@christof139 During the war, Hitler begged the British for peace(Great offers) The US made alot of Profit & territory gains from the War just research.
The lendlease 1941, Was to protect American interests and help defeat their enemies. It was in the best interests of America, Not Britain.
Hitler wanted peace with Britain, And to destroy communism and expand East.
The British gave the Soviet a lendlease and FREE trade during both wars, The Russains got everything for FREE.
martynrobin121 1 month ago
@martynrobin121 Not really, because we would have had to fight Japan again. Just as the Entente's failure to insist on unconditional surrender during WWI doomed them to fight Germany again.
suspicious35 2 days ago
but i hope you do understand that by reaching some objectives men must not commit war crimes... for that truly is cowardly..
5seba56 1 month ago
@5seba56 Could you rephrase? Not sure what you meant.
suspicious35 1 month ago
@suspicious35 it was a reaction on a comment in which you were talking that some things were cowardice and that some things had to be like that in the military otherwise it wouldnt be the military, i only reacted because i felt that some things are never right, and a war crime is one of those things, and commiting war crimes is not only wrong, i felt that only cowards would do such things (this of course is how you look at it)
5seba56 1 month ago
@5seba56 I'd say the willingess to be brutal and heartless hasn't much do to with courage or cowardice. Think about the reverse of your statement. If war criminals are cowards would you say that anyone who can't handle combat is a war criminal?
suspicious35 1 month ago
@martynrobin121 lol Strategic bombing ineffective...
The Germans lost more of their equipments in those bombings than in actual combat.
adobo777 1 month ago
@adobo777 The Germans were able to produce MORE under Allied bombing than in peace-time, What does that honestly tell you? Speer was amaster-mind. The Bombing, Helped the Axis killed countless millions of undesirables who starved to death thanks the Allies bombing Supplies routes, POWs been starved to death. Europeans been starved to death. The bombing killed millions of innocents, And proved ineffective to destroy the German economy, Speer said bombing made the Germans work faster

adobo777 1 month ago
@adobo777 Just Research? 1944, Was the biggest year for German production. During the height of Allied bombing.
Albert Speer was a mastermind, Also the Allies & Soviets used slave labour.
Allied bombing was a crime against humanity, Millions of innocents mainly women & children died in cowardly acts terror. However that is war -hell.
Allied bombing also helped the Nazis wipe out the undesirables during the Holocaust, Look at the footage millions starved due to bombing.
martynrobin121 1 month ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@martynrobin121 They were not producing as much as they could and still lost most of their equipments and mterials to allied bombings.
Of course you're not going to be producing as much war equipment in peace as you would in a war, but that would require some common sense to fathom.
Sure, work faster, but produce that you need to win when your short on materials and manpower (note that Speer used slave labour to try and mend that fact) is an obvious "No".
adobo777 1 month ago
@martynrobin121 correct but the Nazis had ammo and lots of it see what they did at 3:14 they stole a Sherm and painted a Swastika on it good thing they blew it up those Nazis have no right stealing out tanks.

if anyone says Patton is an idiot they have no clue what the hell they are talking about.
usterdboy 3 months ago
@usterdboy - Patton was probably the best U.S. General and I would be surprised if anyone with any military knowledge would have called him an idiot. He wanted to land at Pas De Calais because it was the shortest route to Berlin and he wanted to end the war fast. Had Patton had control of the Italian Campaign it would never have bogged down under his leadership. When Ike wanted Patton to get involved in Italy to speed up the advance Gen.Mark Clark said he would resign if Patton did.
