this technique will develop deep insight. to belittle a technique without having studied or practiced it is not skillful. it just shows attachment to ones own point of view.
You might be correct. But, this technique requires more explanation. There're many forms of meditation, but this one, doesn't impress me. If he did these movements prior to meditation, I can accept it, in order, to be in your body and then, step into the mind. Frankly, unless I get a better answer, I think this is just, ritual. How come most people can't explain meditation in under 3 sentences or even try? Most things are not as simple as they seem, but somethings are simpler.
@fntime meditation can be any activity ... if you havent learned that yet , you are too caught up in the forms of meditation to ever really get deeply into it ... step outside what you have learned in your books or at youtube university and get to meditations heart ... consciousness .... anything done with extended, uninterrupted bouts of consciousness , is meditation ........
Every enlightened master says be aware. The truth is in this moment that is that moment. This is a great meditation for those who used to play a lot of video games and do a lot of typing now.

These techniques look simple, but they were amazingly deep and effective, I was a total sceptic when I went on the retreat with this monk, because I didnt realise what kind of meditation it was till I arrived. But after the first day or two I was deeply impressed and after a week, blown away. This monk and his techniques are amazingly effective. But you do have to FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS (without grasping), like he says, "who put's the work in, is who gets results".
I disagree, respectfully. The Buddha didn't just practice sitting meditation, watching the breath. He practiced walking meditation as well because it enhances awareness of the whole body (as a collection of aggregates). What this type of meditation does is only enhance the awareness of the entire body as well. If you only practice sitting meditation, you can get lulled into passivity and unawareness. His movements may seen robotic to you, but I'm sure they're not to him:)) Metta. -Kirk
Don't forget to read the Buddha's discourses on meditation too, particularly the Sathipattana Sutta. Who could be a better instructor than the Buddha?
works for me. done lots of meditation and think this is excellent technique. of course, i've gone to their website and studied the written instructions too. / takes (me) about 20min. before i notice the subtle shift in consciousness. also, this technique does well in carrying over to non formal meditation where you start to notice all movements. teacher quarentees full reward of doing this meditation within three yrs (at most). which isn't very long.
I have gone to a half dozen 5-10 day retreats at a forest monastery in NE Thailand that teaches this method. Eyes open, be aware of each movement. When thinking intrudes it can be seen. Complusive thinking is dramatically reduced after the first few days at a retreat. Many other benefits start flowing after that. It is important to continue the awareness of movement into daily life on a continuous basis. I see that there are some VDOs on YouTube by "Ven. Jinavamso" which describe it well.

If one feels drowsy one better stands up and does more vigorous exercises.
Sleeping: Keep you hand on the abdomen and observe the movementes of the diaphragma. Avoid these useless hand- and- feet movements he is shwoing.
Fingerrubbing: Better withdraw all impulses from the hand . Keep you energy
concentrated in the belly.

Poor stuff. To call it Mahasati , Great Awarness, is ridiculous.
It does not create awarness but a robot.
To become deeply aware 3 things have to go together:
Movement breath mind.
But this monk seems not very aware of what he is doing.
Watch the way he is walking. I cann not see much awarenes in it.
Besides, his body is stiff because from too much sitting.

This medition technique is simple, anyone could do it (takes sometime to grasp the concept).
Don't use your thought, but be aware of your moving. Thoughts come up, and die; all the time. Like soap bubbles, said buddha.
Be an observer.
