How to Install Older Nancy Drew Games on Windows Vista

do what argle says until it asks for compact or recom install

CHOOSE COMPACT (TOP ONE)

don't install direct x

don't run game

exit install

go to game folder and find game.exe

right click, properties, compat tab

run as win 98

run as admin

now try to open game HURRAY IT WORKS!

I tried this, and the HowTo on Her Interactive told me how to... I have Windows Vista.... but I still can't install Stay Tuned For Danger!! It keeps telling me I have an inncorrect path to the game or something..... AGH!!!

i got that to, and some how fixed it.

but when i tryed to play the game it was all 'We change are sound systems! :D restart and have fun!'

i whent to the Her interactive site and they where no help.

indeed, he make some of the games much more barable; i never really liked a few of the newer ones, dont know why but i never liked playing them. i thout the puzzle where cruel and unfair sometimes X)

i tried it for treasure in the royal tower, i had it in the file and everything and when i clicked on the game it said "unable to open, all tree data has been cleared" ???

You are awesome! After purchasing all the older Nancy Drew games online for a great deal, they would not play using Vista, I was disappointed to say the least. Tried installion by following your directions and still no success. However, I went back and realized I needed to install a whole new folder as you instructed rather than simply using a pre-existing folder on my computer. So far, so good and they work like a charm!! Now I can play the games I love--Nancy Drew! Thank you! Thank you!
