Rain was one of the original characters for MK9, but even after they made him for the release, they scrapped him because they didn't think he was that great. Funnily enough they made him a DLC. I guess because he had already been created. All the characters for DLC were made before the game was even released. I did find Rain and Kenshi odd characters though. I think there could have been better.

@ViRuS10101 Yeah you can download Rain for both Xbox360 and PS3, it's 400 points on the Xbox live Marketplace or about £4.99 on PSN, there's also Kenshi from MK Deadly Alliance/Deception/Armageddon, Skarlet (which originally appeared as a glitch in MK2) and Freddy Krueger, all at same prices and points.

@theant1987 It's an extra character. Why would anyone complain? Besides, Midway (or Netherrealm Studios) have always been known to put characters in their games for unusual reasons. Rain was an in-joke, Ermac was born of an error, Skarlet started as an urban legend (I think), Meat was just a cheat to play as a bloody skeleton before Armageddon, etc. Hell, I'm still waiting for them to put in Hornbuckle, Nimbus Terrafaux and Bellokk.

Ryu and Ken don't do kamehameha, play SF before say shit in the internet.

Ken doesn't eve have a super hadouken. Only Ryu and Akuma do, and only in MvsC. Mortal Kombat is good, but has no consistant gameplay (MK 10 may go back to tekken like gameplay), is imba and only pseudo badass people who think they are actually adults play this game and say that it is better than KoF, SF, Tekken or any other fighting game.

Likewise, when I saw a Tekken Tag 2 video with commentary, it astounded me that people were more interested in stringing together combos as they would in a "sanctioned tournament" (also known as "the biggest collection of people I don't want to be around in case they start talking to me about character tiers") than just enjoying the cool-looking fighting. It's like watching a porn film for the plot.

They should make a Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter game! But it would be all balanced out, MK would use fatalities & SF would use Brutalities, N the evil ones would use fatalitities as well. But it wouldn't be toned down like they did with mk vs dc, It would be more gruesome..Im pretty sure they'll work something out...Also they should put the option to pick what kind of controls you want to play as, either the MK controls or the SF controls.
