One hint: after the intro Maf often did a note-chord-note-chord-glissando pattern (or a similar variant), knowing that i miss it a bit (on the other hand, it's not there on the symphonic album and on some versions).
I actually like the ave maria (thought to do it with the organ with my group, but currently i'm the only keyboardist).

In the end, when we got a piano player, I actually tried to play the Ave maria on the organ…
After a while I just reverted to chording, tough, didn't quite like how it was coming out.
