amy modelled her october song a little bit by this masterpiece .. its ok though, she loved sarah vaughan and even mentiones her in the song ... love it!
Love you so fucking much Amy, U are ma insperation, my role model, my life, my everything. U was a great and lovely talented woman. A part of me died too when u past.... i can't breath when i think about you. I hope you have IT SO GOOD in heaven. Iknow you are in God hands. My friend. Rest In Peace&Love AmyJadeWinehouse. God bless your family and your soul. ♥
Oh, my my my...this is really fine. She just hammers this song into a new shape. What a fine damned singer she was! I've got 67 songs of hers saved, but this was new to me, as well. Incredible.
She was brillant - in my opinion the best female soul singer of all times! And just have a look at her interviews: Amy was so natural, sweet-hearted and so human ... I miss her because she was a real deal, no fake! I love her!
Gifted, talented, unique, timeless, beautiful, one of a kind, different and there will never be another Amy Winehouse. I love hearing Amy singing from the Great American Songbook because her voice just excels straight from the execution, the phrasing, and diction which are the elements that a jazz singer should have. Amy defintely learned from the best: from Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and many MANY others!
Musically, our voices of today should be attempting to do what Amy seems to be doing; travelings pleasurably through the American songbook (all the while leaving her high marks and prints on her own originals). Listening to Amy is a highlight of my life. For those of you who've already got them-please-keep 'em coming...remember, it's good to share!
@flymarvin How about you actually REPLY to the person so they can get a notification and taunt you for being so childish to demand they do something about a childish feud?
@flymarvin your pathetic. why waste your breath with a dumb ignorant comment? amy was so unique and talented. if you didnt look into her music and appreciate her for the talent she had, then you really dont know what real music is anymore. and this comment is just crossing the line regardless if you liked her music or not.
I know a lot of Amy's fan love "Frank" and "Back to Black" myself included but let me tell you something people, Amy singing Jazz is to fucking die for!! This girl was born to sing Jazz. Her voice is so amazing!!! Love this stuff.
To Amy's record company if you happen to read this and want make a "treat" of a CD for Amy's jazz fans (i.e. Me). Put out a CD with nothing but Amy doing these jazz standards live. It would sell like hot cakes. This girl can freaking sing!! ;-)
That would actually be a great idea to have a CD with Amy singing the jazz standards live though I really wish Amy had sung more classic songs from the Great American Songbook like she did with "Lullaby Of Birdland", "No Greater Love", "Someone To Watch Over Me", "I Should Care", "Round Midnight" and with the upcoming "Body and Soul" duet with legendary Tony Bennett. I would have loved for her to continue singing songs that stemmed from her jazz roots. Guess it wasn't meant to be
I thought that in the 10 days since Amy's death I'd heard every song of hers posted to YouTube. Glad I was wrong. These old straight-ahead jazz recordings of hers are great, and demonstrate what a truly gifted artist she was. She was one of a kind, and one of a generation. There won't be another like her for a long time to come.
@glinda808 Long time to come? There'll never be another Amy Winehouse. And I am doubtful that the next soul-studded artist to come along will be able to touch what she's done.
@Greennostalgic I was talking lifetimes. :-) I never say never. I would never have thought that there could be a twentysomething in this day and age who could be as real and authentic and deep and musically brilliant as Amy was. But there was Amy. One never knows. I used to think that there'd never be another Laura Nyro (look her up if you don't know her) -- but Amy came mighty close. We're talking one person out of millions. It's possible. And I hope I live to see it.

Where did this come from?
What a punchy arrangement, so suitable for her attack.
Great!

Sha had a great band, but she managed to ruin so many classics, then got the kudos just for doing them. What a shame.
