  • Friggin AWESOME! Came here by chance and instantly subscribed to your channel. I look forward seeing more such high quality stuff from you. :)

All actros did a GREAT job, too! The music and overall setting even made me forget that this was NOT a classic western. Keep it up! You rock!

  • The only thing I don't like is the girl, she's overacting too much. But the work behind the camera it's good.

  • I like it, it's an original idea, making a modern spaghetti. Keep it up.

  • Man that was good. Better then some Hollywood movies. I was wondering what software to you edit with and what camera's do you film on

  • Can you guys make a 1 hour long

    Movie pls ?

  • Even though I know people who talk like that(dropping the F word over and over) in this case it came off very gratuitous and unrealistic. However overall I really enjoyed it and was very well done!!!

  • AWESOME JOB MAN this is why i love youtube.. hey I'm a film student... the old main character cowboy guy.. where did u find him ? was he an actor or just someone u know ? he did a real good job.. COOLIES ^_^

  • This character is deliberately written to be a mix of good and bad. He’s not someone to admire, but someone to watch like a living tragedy. As for violence, I believe it is an ugly expression of human desperation. It is something to be dreaded and avoided at all costs, wielded only in the gravest extreme. Violence and death isn’t funny or glamorous. My personal hope is that by depicting it in fiction, we can remind ourselves of how terrible it is in real life and learn from it.

  • Amazing! The American solution to everything in less than 10 minutes: shoot the bastards!

  • Great job! Fun to watch and a great homage to the spaghetti west.

  • Who else unsubbed this channel after BFX left? Everything on here now is shit.

  • @elementrinity523 Go away.

  • Oh my god, this was such a great short film! Im extremely happy indymogul led me to you guys, this is the best Ive seen yet of many great videos, awesome!

  • I really enjoyed this. Nicely shot, cool visual effects, and of course the cowboy's voice was what I enjoyed the most.

  • how the fuck did he not die if he shot him in the eye.

  • @MUSHEDkeiran Inspired by many episodes of "I Survived" where they've had a LOT of people survive getting shot in the head, from just about any angle. Plus in this case, he's really just in the process of dying, he's not exactly with it in any way anymore at that point.

  • great vid good work putting it together

but the 10 commandments and the whole no murdering thing...

I THINKS ITS GREAT KILLEM ALL!!!

  • is this film? if no, how did you guys gave it that look?

  • @dondevis It was shot on the Canon 7D. For how we got the look, check the "see all" on the comments and look at my response to murativideo below. Took quite a few After Effects plugins! :)

    -Russ

  • @dondevis Was it shot on film? honestly....

  • @heykillerfilms the dialogue didn't seem believable to me from the "bad guys". Too many F-Words. The "cowboy" was so cool. It was mostly the girl's acting that I wasn't impressed with. She didn't seem too into the part. It appeared more as if she was obviously "acting" than playing the character she was portraying.

  • Wow, that was pretty sick. I liked that a lot, do you have any advice for an amateur film/special effects maker?

  • Wow really nice one guys

  • @xXLalooXx Thanks man!

  • Really good concept the acting and writing was what was lacking from this. I understand it was produced independently and still is worth a watch, but a bit more drafting and critique would have helped to develop a better story and better dialogue. I can't quite help with the actors, all I can say is do your best with what you have.

  • @909Films

By way of critique, can you tell me what you didn't like about the acting, especially mine? As many know, I'm eager to do the best job possible for Hey Killer and all of the Indie film people I work for. Thanks for your input!

    Larry Mihlon

    "William"

  • @okl050 The only acting that I really didn't care for was the girl's, especially her line at 6:00.

Were you the older, western guy? Loved his acting.

  • @UnipsychleProduction

Yes, that was me. Thanks for the compliments. The actress was Victoria Weinberg whom I love working with. The funny thing about your comment regarding her is that she is SO unlike the characters I've seen her play. She becomes the characters she plays with humility and depth. Did you watch her in Horrible Bosses (Russell's version)?

Anyway...thanks for watching. If you ever want to chat, Russell hosts an on line show every Wednesday around noon.

  • Nice work boys.

  • Wow, amazing film!!!!!

  • @ThePianoShack Thanks man!!! Glad you liked it! :)

  • A VERY GOOD VID GOOD ACTORS AND GOOD NICE EDITING

  • This is great! I want more!

  • Liked it. Liked it very much. Was thar bfx finale music in there at the stand off?

  • @jamboni It's possible, I'd have to go back and check. That Kevin MacLeod's music sure gets around! :)

  • its hobo with a shotgun meets machete

  • story line was awesome!!! -but i think the swearing was overused to a point where it didn't seem realistic.

  • @Vwwonderboy Fair enough sir! We shot this back in April before the Movie Quest thing started, and during that time I used to write things with a lot more swearing. These days I've learned to reel it in a bit more, lol. Thanks for watching!

    -Russ

  • That was great!!! Totally loved it! Awesome!

  • @Hepycckuu Thanks man!! :)

  • this would also be a great grindhouse film

  • @longhammer2507 Yeah, that was the vibe I was hoping to go for. Aiming for that when making just about anything makes the whole process a lot more fun! :) Thanks for the comments!

    -Russ

  • great vid. i was hopeing for the girl to get her hat shot off but still well played

  • MORE BIBLE BELT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool you guys R the best

  • @TalentkeyMedia Thanks!!! :)

  • I didn't enjoy the constant flickering of the screen.

  • @thebeastman33 I had a feeling that would turn some people off, I just love the Grindhouse look it gives to the film.

  • Bravo Russ! The acting was decent and it looked terrific.

  • Loved it and am inspired very inspired to start a indy film I wrote the script for 1 year ago.

Best wishes from Paul Director of Film COOLIO

  • Nice work guys! I'd be interested to find out more about the equipment used and story idea.

  • @Knoptop i came here cause of you KNOPTOP!!!

  • @andy101nguyen SO WEIRD... I CUM BECAUSE OF KNOPTOP!

  • @MrSpecialIdea umm.....

  • @andy101nguyen shhhh don't ruin the moment

  • @Knoptop This was based on a feature idea I had had starting about a year ago. This was just the introduction of one out of many characters who would intertwine, Snatch-style. I haven't done much with the idea in a while and might revisit it one day. We shot with my Canon 7d, long before I REALLY knew what I was doing with it, lol. I love the way it came out though. Other than that, just a reflector to help with light and that was about it! Love this thread exchange by the way... :)

    -Russ

  • dang they say f**k alot

  • @viralvideo247 It's true, we did. :( But we've gotten much better about it lately! (This was shot pre-Movie Quest days)

    -Russ

  • i would totally watch this as a full film, good work guys

  • LOLOL "let's show mister cowboy where he is"

Meanwhile, she's wearing a fucking cowboy hat?

WHAT THE FUCK AM I WATCHING?!

  • @TylerTR4G3DY Good point sir! Hadn't thought about that. We just saw her in the cowboy hat when we were figuring out costumes and were like "Awesome! Use it!". Let's just consider that a minor moment that confirms what a shit person she is, lol.

    -Russ

  • Amazing guys, definitely the best movie quest short ever uploaded, its nothing like your other uploads, had a completely different feel to it, it was a realy 'short film' :)

    - Red Spectrum Pictures

  • @RedSpectrumPictures Thanks man! It was fun to mix it up a bit this week.

    -Russ

  • Excellent! Larry is a fantastic actor, as always.

  • @einarssone Thanks! He certainly is!

    -Russ

  • Made my own western a year ago and I failed to bring that spaghetti western vibe. This short was right on!

  • Who watches the Watchmen?

  • Its very perfect nice color and editing style ( which editing software did you use? )

  • @murativideo Editing was done in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. I got the look using a few different things. In order:

    1. Added Digieffects AgedFilm codec, used preset "Red Sand"

    2. Added Magic Bullet Mojo and turned up the bleach setting

    3. Added Magic Bullet Misfire Flicker and Post Contrast

    4. Added Magic Bullet Look Suite and used "Print Bleach Bypass", a great effect I've always loved that blows out all the brightest areas, similar to how the movie "Three Kings" did it.

    -Russ

  • @heykillerfilms .i realy like your work ..i always want to do this type editing ...thnx a lot to telling me magic bullet software..

  • Like....

Can I see this guy and the Karate master team up to bring peace, through extreme violence.?

  • @pfmrokman YES! That would be awesome!

    -Russ

  • @pfmrokman don't forget Porkins!

  • Loved it. You did an awesome job capturing the spaghetti western feel. This ranks amongst your best works. Would love to see more.

  • exelent!!!

  • Awesome, worth the wait guys!

  • fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck and fuck!!!

  • @miroswankinggorilaz That's STILL not enough fucks! :)

  • wow great movie!

  • First and Loved it 3
