  • swinging is very important during at the end of a sets when your muscles are fatigued. You swing to gain momentum so that you work the muscles when the lactic acids are high. This causes the muscle to grow big.

  • the problem here is that most people here have never been to the gym in their life and suffer from something called small penis syndrome. The truth is, bodybuilders have been bodybuilding since their mid-teens. Steroids don't automatically give you muscles. You have to work for them. Who knows if they are on roids. Truth is, if some of these people actually read books about weightlifting they would know that there's alot of factors to take into account.

  • BTW I'm changing my routine to adopt some MAX OT principles and HIT - I agree with the previous comment that we shouldn't get too caught up with all the different training routines given to us - as we're all different we should learn from our own bodies & experiences (so don't COPY those routines who read in Flex and MD!) Chances are you don't have the luxury to train for a living - sleep 10hrs a day, get your supplements for free and use the best chemical enhancements available.

  • Someone mentioned HIT, I personally haven't gotten around to trying that yet but I have tried a lot of other different methods (anyone remember PFT? lol). While some work better than others, I believe it is unwise to be fanatical about a method for one simple reason. The perfect training routine will only make a minor difference, the important things are:

    Discipline

    Dedication

    Continual improvements

    That's how you put on mass. That's much more important than what routine you're using.

  • If I use myself as example, I get better results by cheating on some excercises while being 100% strict gives better results in other excercises. I cheat a lot when it comes to biceps but I'm always as strict as can be during bench press.

    Regarding the light weights being used: Serious athletes will often vary their routines and lift light for a period followed by a heavy period.

  • The reason why amateurs are taught not to cheat is that they don't have as well developed muscle contact as someone who's been lifting weights for a long time. An amateur who cheats during for example biceps curls will end up targeting other muscles more than the biceps and possibly injure themselves. Someone with well developed muscle contact can cheat during curls and actually benefit from it. Just look at how Arnold trained. Or better yet, go experiment yourselves.

I've seen videos of Jay benching 200lb dumbells, then in the end of his workout benching 225 for 8reps. Some1 who sees this,and doesn't understand fatigue, would say he is weak.   • Jay is very big and very strong, everone can see that. Many of the exercises he does is done in a wrong way. But because of all the suplements jay are using it dosent matter. There are many rules in bodybuilding about how you do all the exercises, but one thing is clear. Jay knows what he does right, and what he does wrong.

  • Ruhl was better than "Cuts" in Graz last year, but was in bad shape at the AC 2007 due to sticking to long to dieting. Cutler was realy bad in Graz, the hell knows why.

    If everything goes right, Ruhl is serious compatition for Cuts, not just what size is concerned (that is surely undisputed), but also when it comes to being ripped...

  • for legs, squats are good, 4 sets as heavy as you can doing at least 10 reps, then do leg extensions(4 sets) leg press (4 sets) lunges (4 sets) calf raises (4 sets)

  • to get your muscles bigger you need the proper diet and proper workout routine if that's all you do for biceps and legs then we'll have to work on that. for biceps I like to start off with regular hammers do four sets as heavy as you can making sure you can do at least 10 reps and do four sets of that, then go to preacher or consentration curls (4 sets), then cables, put it on the low setting, gives more restriction (4 sets) and use the machines too, use the whole gym, not just the free weights.
