@Stroudtucson I'm very happy that the video weas helpful for you! Tell your friends I say hello! BTW, I DO offer workshops--I travel and all :) Hope all is well where you are. Peace, Stu
Stu, you are my ukulele hero! No one else explained chucking in this detailed and excellent way. I am well on my way to being a great chucker!! Ha! The other members of my uke club will be sooooo jealous! But I will now refer them to you for instruction. Many mahalos!!! You're the best!
@StUkulele OK thanks, because it looks like you upstroke with your index and it's becoming complicated if you have to start downstroking with thumbs, chunking, upstroking with index, in a fast continuous rythme it quite hard, thanks. It seems more easy this way.
@TheTurtleSandwich I'm so happy to hear that!! I do my best to give what I have found to be most helpful. Going to the root of the technique is key...going slow saves time! More vids to come. Peace, Stu
@gowhordslayer2011 Oh my! It's natural for you muscles to be a little sore when using muscles and coordinations of tendons in new ways. Remember to make the had feel like it's floating in SLOOOOW MOTION at first. Break in between attempts at first. This will not only relax your muscles, but also let you hear your developing chunk more clearly. Hope the hurt subsides soon--remember to feed your muscles with DEEP BREATHS! :) Enjoy!
@ULaughUntillUCry You're welcome!! I'm so glad you got some use out of my video...I'll make some more very soon. Can you do me a favor and vote "up" my video? (thumbs up/ i like this). Thank you & btw, you have THE BEST channel name ever!!
my chuck just sounds a bad version of the chord instead of a purely pitchless percussive note. am i sposed to have my palm on the strings before i strum? that seems to be the only way to prevent it
@jet0l19 I think in the video I do a "slow-mo" explanation of when your palm muffles the strings. It's a little tricky at first. The fingers strum/strike the strings first, THEN a moment later the palm mutes. If your sound is too muffled you may want to wait another split second before muting. repeat 100 times :) Cheers, Stu-kulele :)
Great lesson, thank you. Really like how you go over all the small details like staying relaxed and not having too much tension in your body. The explanation of strumming and chunking were perfectly clear to me as a totally new uke student. And thanks for the free song lesson!
@Lidumilka Cheers! More to come! There is such a cool feeling you get when the playing is effortless--it inspires us to experience: "Hey! This is easy!!"

@Troispistols You can relax the fist on the upstroke...allows the thumbnail to strike the string on the upstroke.
