1:39 looks like an F-117 mated with a CRV! I'm going in for Security Forces, and if I ever get qualified as a patrolman, I know that I'll be spending a lot of time hanging around the bases firehouses!
citybox238 hey man, do you get to do any of the tactical training shown towards the end of the movie as an Air Force FF? Firefighting and infantry stuff both interest me.
1:56 I happen to know where that is very well, this is the arrival of the first C-130J pictured in the background. Good ol' Crash 8 pictured with turrets flowing
5:57 is NBC readiness training. All military members have to go through it. The USAF has no intention of phasing out military firefighters. Some branches have done so as a logistical measure. If anyone is interested in becoming a firefighter, and really wants to "be a firefighter" I highly suggest doing time in the military! Enlisted USAF firefighters are just that......FIREFIGHTERS!! Go for it, it was the best time of my life!!
@citybox238 Hey man, I'm working with a recruiter right now to get in as a Firefighter in the Air Force. It's just that you cant actually choose the job. You give the counselor like 4 different jobs and the Air Force chooses for you... thats why im hesitant about it =/
This video brings back a lot of memories- attended Chanute AFB firefighting school Jan-Mar 81, later assigned to Grand Forks, ND & Galena, AK. Got licensed on P-2, P-4, P-12, P-13, P-15, rode tailboard on the old 530-B. Loved firing up pump and traction Detroit Deisels on the P-2 and flooring it! Didn't love ramp patrol- standby on the alert pad.... BORING! Lost a B-52 & ground crew on the ground in January 83, -40 windchill, hoses frozen solid, sad day. Great new equipment you guys have!
Enjoyed the video. Brings back good memories of being a Fireman in the AF from 1969 to 1973. Loved it. Miss it. Had the 011A crash trucks and P2. Great firefighting equipment you have today. When I visit a Air Force Base today and go by their fire department, I get a little home sick to be back again.
Hell yeah! Those Jaguar trucks are awesome. I had a chance to ride in one at Hartsfield back a few years ago when running water supply from Lamar County.
As an USAF Firefighter, do you have a good chance of getting deployed somewhere overseas?
I was talking to someone on here and they said that you are on base for 2 years, overseas for 6 months, and then repeat for your minimum of 4 years. Is this correct?
Thanks for the video. Former AF firedawg here. Eglin 00-01 (deployment to Al Jaber thrown in there), Kunsan 01-02, AFNORTH NATO base 03-05. Good times gents.
I was an Air Force fire fighter for almost 7 years and IMO it is by far the best job in the Air Force for the enlisted types. You get to check out the world, the fire stations are typically state of the art, and the training is supurb if this is something you want to do when you leave the military.
is the training hard and is it easy to apply after completing basic training? cuz im about to graduate highschool and im really thinking about being one..
I didn't think the training was too difficult. Also, if you're claustophobic or afraid of heights I wouldn't get into this line of work. I'm not sure how easy it is to apply for it since I went in guaranteed of my job. Speaking from my own experience, if you have no idea what you want to do when you graduate high school the military is a great opportunity. Myself, I joined the Air Force due to the fact that most any job you get in the Air Force, you can get on the outside.
Are you still in high school? Because then you could do something like joining the USAF DEP which is the Delayed Entry/Enlistment Program. You would go through MEPS and could get a guaranteed job that way. Now there were a lot of details i left out just for the sake of time saving.
theres nothing wrong with that!!! :) patrols are fun! until you run over and IED. then its not so fun, or some crazy dude shoots a shoulder mounted rocket at you. thats not so fun either. but...well...ya. you'll see when you get there lol its more fun than it sounds and you cant see that stuff anywhere else so its worth it in my opinion
I am thinking about becoming a firefighter when I join, always wanted to be one. Do Air Force firefighters stay busy fighting fires or do they just train a lot? Do they get training in the medical field? Are they EMT's or Paramedics as well? Awesome video!
Im a air force firefighter, theres no action in it at all. In fact, airport FF's probably see the least amount of all. Still a lot of fun tho, if your able to actually get in.
Former AF firefighter here from Mcguire AFB NJ..... 18 years. This was great video. It was nice to see all the new equipment. Stay Safe. If anyone has more video of equipment post it...would love to see more.
I'm thinking of joining in a couple of years. When you get deployed to a war zone such as Iraq, do you fight with a rifle in your hand on the battlefield or do you stay on base and fight fires?
Excellent tribute! Bring 'em home SAFE! Please take a moment to view the video response as it relates to 'SAFETY in ACTION' ...learn to fight the FIRE... and NOT the HOSE! BE FIRE SAFE! 3w's.hftfire dot com ...and LEARN what you can TEACH your community to SAVE The LIFE of a dedicated FIRE FIGHTER! TOTAL VICTIM ACCOUNTABILITY at ALL TIMES.. but especially when you ARRIVE! 3w's.fireandlifesafety dot ORG All my best!
Stationed at Hanscom AFB 1991-1997, Ruppertsweiler NATO SWHQ 1997-98, Ellsworth AFB 1998-2000. Plus deployed to King Abdul Aziz AB SA Sept 1993- Dec. 1993.
