@LedZeppyFreak The frozen spinach in a box is 10 oz. usually, and part of it is water, so I think 1/2 pound would be the right amount. It does shrink down a lot when cooked!
that's really cool. i'm definitely gonna try it. you know, sometimes i get frozen veggies when they're on sale since there are times, especially in the summer, when cooking can be a drag, but then there are times when i look in the freezer and say, "hey! there's a lot of food in there, and maybe it's time to start cooking it up!" so this looks like the perfect dish to work our way through some of those boxes of spinach. yea!! oh, really like the look of the slivered almonds, too.
This looks delicious. I'm going to try it. The anise seed sounds like a good addition to the recipe. BTW, you are lucky you noticed the omission of oil BEFORE you finished the video. That hasn't always been my good fortune lol
hi Betty huge fan of your videos i made a cake today and tasted great but one question how long does it take when you take out of the oven to let it sit the you take it out i wated 30 seconds then i put i out and frosted it please help
I love pesto so much! I'm glad you gave a suggestion for using almonds as a substitute for the pine nuts, they don't sell pine nuts in my local store. I've never used anise seed in pesto before, what a fantastic idea!
@notnormalbuzz Hi Ben! Thanks for your nice comment! Yes, I have made Watergate Salad many times. I hope to get it posted somtetime this summer. Thanks for the reminder!
@MsTaleda Only a minute or two. Watch them closely, and when they are light tan, take them off the heat--they will probably turn a little browner. It is very easy to burn them, so just keep and eye on them.
My husband and I LOVE making fresh pesto. We really like to experiment with different nuts and varieties of basil. I never thought to put spinach in it though. That looks YUM! I can't wait to try it! You should try roasting a bulb of garlic sometime and adding that instead of the fresh garlic. It adds a rich flavor.
Wow look at the view around your house, it's beautiful!

@heroteen16 I usually wait about 30 minutes before removing a cake from a pan. Then I let it cool completely before frosting it.

I like your pesto recipe, and using almonds instead is a nice nutty touch. I'm lazy so I'm toasting the slivered almonds and adding it on top.
