I think all his interviews on tv shows are staged, if you notice he rarely looks at the crowd all he talks about is experiences from his life not saying that is bad but that is all he talks about and if you also notice there is always a punchline that the "audience" laughs at

on late night shows, comedians typically do some of their material in the seat.. it's sort of rehearsed before hand so that the interviewer sets up the jokes but it's still somewhat casual.. watch louis ck on conan etc.. same deal. in the case of aziz, it's a way to get the viewers to be like "oh shit, who is this guy? he's hilarious" kind of thing.
