  • Great job!!! (and nice cat) :D

  • OMG I JUST SAW THE CAT AT THE END XD... am glad i listened to all of it :3

  • bitch is ugly.. but sounds good :D

  • Beautifully done... You kept it simple, clean and well tempo-ed. Thank you so much for sharing...

Namaste (The light in me; honors the light in you)

  • can u do a tutorial?? i cant read tabs :/

  • @UKEGUY45 Tabs are very simple - each line represents a string on the uke (bottom line is the G string and top line is the A string). The numbers on the line represent which fret to press on that string. If you follow along with the video while reading the tab, I'm sure you'll be fine, and after learning tabs, there are so many songs you'll be able to play :)

  • @fourteentwelve awesome!! :D thx :D

  • Great job. Where cani find tabs for this song???

  • @jdef11 Thank you! The tabs are linked in the song description - I got them from the Ukulele Hunt website.

  • could you possibly post the tabs?? awesome bit of playing

  • @ilmatteo95 Thank you! The tabs are linked in the song description - I got them from the Ukulele Hunt website.

  • @fourteentwelve oh, sorry! I didn't see the link

  • there's something in music that makes animals love it like humans... great uke, nice playing, you inspired me to try the same tune

  • @Garabaja I'm sorry, I somehow missed your comment when you first posted it. Thank you for such a lovely comment, and I love to hear that I inspired you to try the song. How did you go with it?

  • That's a nice bit of playing. Thanks for posting, it's a great theme. I'm learning it myself now, you and the cat did a great job !

  • @avonflow Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Good luck with learning to play it! It's a fun one to play.

  • At first I was wondering why there was a foot flopping around in the corner of the screen...then I realized it was a cat. Pretty kitty, and good job!

  • LOL! Yes, the foot by itself must have looked strange for a while :) Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you liked it.

  • Cool!

You've inspired me to learn this tune on my uke.

    Nicely done!

    Shas

  • Thank you Shas! I'm really glad to hear it has inspired you to play it too! That made my day :) It's a fun one to learn.

  • I found you when doing research into flukes...(a beginner myself) Great performance of a song...you really bring out the haunting melody...great job and a good advert for the fluke company lol

  • Thank you for such a lovely comment. Soo.... did you buy a Fluke??? It's actually a Flea that I play in this video, but I do love my Fluke too!

  • Sorry I got the instrument wrong...I think a fluke would suit me as I prefer the size ot tenor ukes...A fluke is the next purchase but you know what it is like when UAS kicks in lol. Off to practice this tab now...you have convinced me :)

  • The tenor flukes are great! Good luck with getting one and I look forward to hearing you play it :)

  • good work i was trying to learn this but was struggling on how to do that 2nd strum 5 seconds in but now i know. thanks.

just out of curiosity how do you do a d chord? do u bar it or use 3 fingers? ive only been playing about a month but the common d chord is still doing my head in. theres even a expert village "expert" on youtube that says to use your thumb to bar the 3 strings

  • Sorry to take a while to write back - I haven't been on YouTube this week. I use three fingers to do the d chord, but I know a lot of people either bar the whole chord, or bar the first two notes, then use their finger for the third. It's really personal preference - whatever feels easiest for you and suits your fingers best. I'd say try it each way and see what feels best for you. I've been playing over a year now and still hate the E chord.

  • yea i guess it is personal preference. ill keep experimenting with it. just practice i suppose. like i was struggling with that weird 2nd strum in this song but now im finding it alot easier. i've only been playing a month so i have a long way to go. thanks for your reply and keep the quality vids coming

  • "....still hate the E chord."

    Ha!

    Me, too.

Someday I've just GOT to sit down

and practice my E until it's automatic.

One must make these sacrifices to the Muse of Music...

  • VERY GOOD..thank you for sharing this video with I really Appreciate it..

  • Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it.

  • Very Good!!!! I love that song and it sounds great on the uke!! Do you have the tabs posted for it?

  • Thank you very much! Sorry for the late response - I've been away. The link to the tabs is in the description at the side of the video. Just click on "more info". I hope that helps.

  • Well done

  • Thank you very much!

  • don't stop every time just keep on going //// don't be sad just giving you advice///

  • Beautiful!!

  • Thank you!

  • Yea, It's beautiful song, So nice, So beautiful, So comfortable.

  • this has made me pick up my uke again. thank you

  • Thank you so much for your comment! I'm so glad to hear that my video made you pick up your uke again! Happy strumming! :)

  • Any chance of a mini-tutorial on the way you play the notes at 0:31? In the tabs they are played together (but the best effect is as you play them one note running into each other)and to get the same effect as you I just strum down slowly, I've tried to play them picking each with a separate finger but can't stop them all playing at once - any tips?

  • The way you are doing it (strumming down slowly) would work just as well - it's just personal preference really. For me, I find it easier to pick. The best way I could explain how I do that bit is just playing each of the notes in very quick succession. I would suggest starting by just playing each of the notes individually slowly, then building up speed until it flows so that they run into each other. I hope this helps a bit!

  • Very very nice. I learnt this myself after watching your vid. Is that a concert of soprano flea? cheers, and well done.

  • Thank you very much, and I'm so glad to hear my video helped you learn it. It's a concert flea with the rosewood fretboard.

  • wow your really good!! sorry, i somehow cannot open ang get the tab from that uke web, can you email it to me or write the tab some where pls?

  • Thanks for the comment - the link to the tab on the website is just directly under the video - it's a PDF file. If you can't get to it, just send me a message with your email address and I'd be happy to send it to you.

  • was this your first ukulele video? wow!!!! very inspiring. your playing has so much feel in it. it makes your lines sound so warm. truly wonderful :-) btw, i like your cat. 5*

  • Thank you very much Sebi! Yes, it was my first ukulele video. I'd been playing about 3 months at the time, and chose this one because at the time I didn't sing at all, and these were quite easy tabs to play. I'm glad you liked it!

  • This is so well played!

  • Thank you John!

  • excellent job, i'm learning this myself and it's quite tricky to about half way in for me. the picking strangely enough i find easier than fingering those chords.

  • Thank you so much for your comment. How are you going with learning it? Good luck with it!

  • Very great for a first one!

    The cat looks cute! <3

  • Thank you very much! And thank you for watching!

  • nicesong love the uke to. i noticed u just stare forward.r u blind?

  • Thanks for the comment. No, I'm not blind. I was reading the music on the screen. I probably should have learnt it better before recording it. lol. But it was my first video.

  • Nicely done!

    I enjoyed his so much,

I'm off to find the tabs and try it myself!

  • Thank you very much - I'm glad you enjoyed it! Have you tried it with the tabs yet? It's a fun one to play.

  • Very, very nice. I'll be trying this on my flea too. I hope my cat is as grateful as yours, for playing such a beautiful tune.

  • Thank you so much! Good luck with playing it on your Flea. It's a lovely arrangement that Woodshed did.

  • that was really good. i have to admit it was better than i tought it was going to be

  • Thanks very much for that! I'm glad it was better than you thought it was going to be, not worse :)

  • awesome work :)

    5 stars

    (cool putty tat)

  • Thank you very much! Thanks for taking the time to watch.

  • Wow that was one heck of a first video :O

I am a Uke newbie now and my first vids is nothing near this :D

    5* stars :D

  • Thank you! I just watched a couple of your videos and you're doing really well. Keep it up! I've just subscribed and look forward to seeing what you do next!

  • Thanks

  • Wow! If this was your first, I'm in for some serious treats. thanks

  • Thank you so much for such a lovely comment!! I'm so glad I discovered your channel today too, through Joel's cover of your song.

  • really beautiful job :) go back to your fluke and GIVE me the koaloha ;) that's the logical thing to do

  • Thank you very much Shane! And sorry, but my Koaloha is hardly ever out of my hands! Never giving that one away! :) I do need to pick up my fluke and flea again though. They look quite sad sitting there unplayed while the Koaloha gets all the attention.

  • Nice Flea/Fluke. Really great playing. Your Koaloha is cooler though :P

  • Thanks John! Yes, my flea and fluke are getting totally neglected now that I've got the Koaloha. I find it hard to put it down - it's so beautiful.

  • hahahhaaa..... nice wrk!! yeh the kitty sure spiced it up!! :D

  • why so serious...?

  • LOL! Yes it was a bit serious, wasn't it? I think I was concentrating on reading the music. Thanks for watching.

  • Very nice playing! I have trouble with the whole fingerstyle thing. You sound great.

  • Thank you very much! I've been watching your videos, and I love your style. Thanks for watching mine.

  • This is an awesome first vid!

    I'm impressed.

    5*

  • Thank you very much for your comment, and thanks for watching!

  • Excellent! I hope that I'll be able to play as well as you do. I look forward to seeing more videos of your playing!

  • Thank you very much, and thanks for subscribing!!

  • Awesome! Just curious, your cat is not named Fredo by any chance? :-)

  • Is that a Fluke ukulele your using??

I have a Fluke that looks similar to that one, but its black and the body is a little bit bigger.

  • Hi 3agger, it's actually a Flea that I'm using. They're made by the same people as the Fluke, but are a bit smaller, and a different shape.

  • wow thats soo cool....

i tried using your tabs but i guess i need practice cos it sounded HORRID!!!lol..

    thanks anyways....

  • Thanks for the comment! Keep going with it - it took me ages to learn it too, but it's a pretty easy one to start with. Good luck with your playing!

  • awesome playing! could you send me the chords too?

  • Thanks Kiba, I've added the link to the tabs in the side bar at the right now - just click on the More Info link. Cheers!

  • wow! that was cool. have you got a tab for this? i only got my ukulele yesterday and i really want to be able 2 play this

  • Thanks for that dannyboy. I've sent you a message with the link as I can't seem to post it as a comment. It's from the Ukulele Hunt site - check out their site - heaps of good stuff there!!

  • That was lovely! Well played!

  • Thanks ukulelezo! And great to see you on the Underground! I love your videos - I hope we see more of them now you've got the new uke :)

  • I was waiting for the Mafia to come busting through the door!! Very sweet rendition!

  • Thank you!! I love your videos too. Lots of fun to watch. I just subscribed.

  • Good job! :-)

  • Thanks hammettalica! Thanks for watching.

  • how long have you been playing ?

  • When I recorded this, I had been playing two months - four months now though :) Thanks for watching.

  • wow , your cord transitions are rely natural , unnoticeable almost

  • That was very nice! Your cat was so adorable in this, too!

  • Thanks SailQwest! Yes, he likes to be a part of everything.

  • Wow this is nice:-) You play the uke really well, but I sort of feel that this song sounds better on a slightly "richer" instrument (more strings, more notes)

    but great playing:-)

  • Thanks for your comment bendoc! I played a really simplified version of this song, as I'm still a beginner player myself, but there are a lot of uke players out there who could give it a much richer sound. Check out ukuleleoversoul's YouTube channel - he's amazing! Or Jake Shimabukuro.

  • Thanks for responding:-)

I still think you're a great uke player and I will check out their channels, I'm learning to like this instrument and you have surely contributed to me liking it more

  • Thank you so much for such a lovely comment! I really appreciate it :) I hope you keep enjoying the uke.

  • Sounds Great

  • Thank you! I love your videos. Your fluke sounds great :)

  • Can't believe I forgot to leave a comment on youtube. I loved this, thought your playing was so precise and that picking with the thumb and three fingers is very technical. Hope your going to post up some more soon :)

  • Thank you so much! Yes, I'll definitely post more. I'm looking forward to your next ones too!

  • very nicely done. your cat scared me. At first I thought you were being attacked by a dingo. I love the Flea.

  • LOL! You don't know how close you are! He's a bit of a biter :) Thanks for the comment. I just checked out your channel - love the Fluke :)

  • your uke sounds better than mine!! lol

u play very well.. i cant keep to tempo but u can!!

    love the cat!

    more videossss!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Grappler! My uke definitely doesn't sound better than yours though - I love yours! And you play really well. I really enjoy your videos.

  • Very nice and the cat is a nice touch.

  • Thanks Scooter! Hey, I love the fluke on your site. I've never seen one like that with the stars on it. Very cool. And your California Dreaming is great too!

  • Thanks Adelle! I hope you keep them coming too. You've got some great originals :)

  • Well done! And the cat cameo is a nice touch- and quickly becoming de rigueur for all uke videos! :)

  • LOL! Yes, I think it's because cats just like to become part of everything. Thank you for the comment!

  • One of my favourite tunes and my favourite film.

    Well done. 5 star performance.

    KEN

  • Thanks very much Ken! So many people commenting on the film. I'll definitely have to watch it.

  • that you marlon brando ? nicely done..i am doing a film on him soon :)

  • Thanks for the comment gladiatornot. Good luck with your film :)

  • 14twelve, you did a marvelous job. Please make more vids. P.S. Sweet hat.

  • Hey Seeso! Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from you. I totally love your playing. I'll definitely make some more - gotta learn something else to play now.

  • Excellent stuff. I've added this video to the original post.

    Thanks for the shout out.

  • Woodshed!! Thank you so much for the tabs on your page. It's great to find some at my level. You'll probably see more of them end up on here at some stage :) And thank you for adding me to your post!

  • Very beautiful!

Marlon Brando had a cat on his lap in the Godfather, so it's appropriate you had a cat in the video!

  • Thanks very much for the comment keonepax! Just saw your videos too - very nice!

  • Hey fourteentwelve this sounds awesome, your playing is excellent with such great feel. Sounds perfect on the flea :)

  • Thanks SaddleSoreSista! I really appreciate that - I love your fingerstyle playing!

  • right on! and i LOVE the uke!! :):):)

  • Thank you!! Yes, I love my Flea too. Thanks for the comment :)

  • again, no problem!!!! :):)

  • Excellent! I've been trying to learn that for a few weeks and gave up on it. But you just inspired me to get back at it. And u haven't seen the movie yet??? Who hasn't seen The Godfather? Great movie!

  • Hey Frank! Don't give up on it! It's a really good one to learn on. No weird fingerings or long stretches. It's actually the only one I can play through without too many mistakes, so definitely a good one to start with!

  • brilliant job on the picking! i love the color of your flea too. it's cat approved!

  • Thanks for watching and for the feedback Russell! Yes, I love the colour of my flea too. It's funny, that was the colour I liked best when I looked at the Fleamarket website, and it was the only colour available at my favourite music store here in Australia. It was fate :) And yep, it's the only flea my cat likes!

  • I liked it!

It looks like your cat liked it too.

  • Thanks for watching mctrmt!!

  • Very cool! Now I have to watch the movie again.

  • Thanks Deach! I've never seen the movie - I'll have to watch it now!
