  • Hello i am in the process of repairing a 1973 VW 1600 cc engine/transmission, I have few problems and it would be a great help if you could answer them!

Problem 1: can't depress clutch, throw-arm and bearing work, the problem seems to be the clutch is jammed almost but its not.

Problem 2: engine will not spark, coil is good, park plugs/wires are good, would if be anything but the distributer and rotor?

    Any answers are greatly appreciated!

  • @EYEReive Sorry I am so late! In my build the clutch (like most VW's) is connected by a cable that runs to the transmission. If the cable gets caught on anything it will not release. It may be that or that you need something more than I can help you with. As far as the engine: Does it turn over completely? What I suggest you do is make sure the wire to the distributor is in working order. Then get new distributor. (Turns out mine had the wrong year. I put the correct year on and it ran great!

  • fuck yea man reminds me of my dads old buggy but he swapped out and put in bigger jugs and pistons and cake is a badass band!

  • Very cool.

  • haha i love this song.

  • So long as its 8 inches wide. You get about 1 3/4 inch tire side wall bulge, but still leaves you 2 1/2 inches of clearance between the tire and the spring plate. What ever you run, keep the air pressure low. I operate at 12 psi rear, 20 psi front.

  • Too much fun man, Gotta love that mudd !!

If I could recommend a tire, It'd be a "Super Swamper", TSL/SX, (29/13.50-15LT),they'll help spread the mud around. I also run a 3 rib tire on frt. Unbelievably Amazing off-road stability !

  • Thank you for your advice. The only problem is that my buggy has 4 lug rims. Will a Swamper fit on the baja bug 4 lug rim design?

  • @KdjSoccer What size is your wheel (i.e. 14" , 15" , etc)

  • @braaup 14's on the front, 18's on the back.

  • That's freakin' COOL dude!

  • Thanks!

  • did you build that dune buggy? and if you have how much did it cost you?

  • I didn't build it, but we are adding on to it... I bought it off Craigslist for about $800 US and I have added about 100 more so far... by the time we get it finished, we will probably have another 500 invested...
