@2011zbjr In hip hop terms, MC is an interchangable word that can be used in place of "rapper". So you saying "Wayne is a rapper, not a MC" is like saying "Wayne is a rapper, not a rapper". Regardless, Wayne is bubblegum rap, meaning he's commercialized, he's a product face for rap. It's not a good thing to be, but it makes him famous, he doesn't have to be a good rapper but since he's commercialized on tv 24/7 people think he's good. Which is why most of his fans are 12-16. Tech N9ne released his first studio album in 1999. Yes his first single came in 1996 and his first guest appearance was in 1992, I'll give you that.
OutKast's first studio album came out in 1994 and they started rapping in 1991 on a remix of a TLC song.
I have no idea what @austinssj4 is talking about, but Tech wrote a verse for a Tupac song (Thugs Get Lonely Too) in 1997, but it wasn't originally recorded.

@2011zbjr In hip hop terms, MC is an interchangable word that can be used in place of "rapper". So you saying "Wayne is a rapper, not a MC" is like saying "Wayne is a rapper, not a rapper". Regardless, Wayne is bubblegum rap, meaning he's commercialized, he's a product face for rap. It's not a good thing to be, but it makes him famous, he doesn't have to be a good rapper but since he's commercialized on tv 24/7 people think he's good. Which is why most of his fans are 12-16. Rap stands for rythm and poetry, poetry is being able to express without needing to impress.
