  • I love when she tastes the paint. lol, who thinks of julie Newmar and improv? hah! One of my top 5 fav Monkee songs of all time, and Mike sang it in a lower key and without all the forefront harpsicord, and they're both great versions.

  • Can anyone explain the karate stuff at the end of the video?

  • If ur asking why it's there, then it's because they're fighting over her. If ur asking about her coming at them o a horse and making them all dirty, it's an old White Knight laundry refference...though it wasn't an old refference at the time.

  • "Someway some how the same thing was done, someone somewhere did me the same wrong."

Beautiful lyrics and I love Julie Newmar.

  • Always had a soft spot for Michael....

  • Most girls are fans of Peter.

  • most girls had thing for davy davy always got the girls on the show

  • Peter Has That BabyFace Look That Makes Him So Adorable.

    Davy Was Just Hot.

    Lol

    :)

    Monkees4Life

  • My sister always had a thing for Micky. I was more of a Peter fan.

  • I had a thing for davy

  • should include Julie Newmar in the description

  • Great song.

Damn, Julie Newmar was HOT!!! (Probably still is.)

  • :25

    You are absolutely gorgeous, Micky.

Love this song. Mike Nesmith is really talented at songwriting.

  • The Girl That I knew Somewhere was written by Mike Nesmith. Perhaps his best song?

  • agreed, it's a shame that it took until the 1996 reissue of Headquarters for people to finally get to hear the original version with Mike on vocals as opposed to the version used here with Mickey on vocals

  • Colgems record single 1967 45rpm. got as high as #39 on the Billboards Charts. Flip side was "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You," written By Neil Diamond.

  • I have this 45rpm record it is priceless to me

  • Very Good ! ^ ^

  • ahaha April :)

  • The Monkees meet Catwoman

  • And if your love was not a game, I only have myself to blame....the girl I knew sommmmmmeeeee....wherrrrrrreeee. How true, how true...only have myself to blame.

  • ^__^ classic my favorite song of them..

  • Excellent video, one of my favorite Monkees tunes. Long live Julie Newmar

  • oh what I would give to sit behind Mike Nesmith and nibble his hair

  • Just how TALL is Julie Newmar?? LOL

And what a time period that must've been with "Free Love"........WOW

  • According to IMDB, she's 5' 11"

I was around during the 60's and 70's. Don't believe the hand outs. Free Love wasn't free. I doubt I could ever afford Cat Woman!

  • Mickey is the best singer in the group...Hey, is that Catwoman from the original 1960's Batman TV show?

  • Yes it is Julie Newmar

  • Sooooo yummy.... I knew that face & figure...No disrespect to Eartha Kitt and the other Catwomen, but...whew!!!

  • Julie Newmar is a living doll. These days she devotes nearly moment to her mentally and physically challenged son.

  • Probably one of my fave episodes hehehe thanks for uploading the song and video from this romp :D

  • Wow! Thank you Youtube! I´m a fan of the 60es, but until now I didn´t know, that the Monkees had that many good songs.

  • I believe MIckey got to know Julie very well!! So much for the skinny dork they always referred to him!! Got some of the hottest women in his era!

  • julie was hot!!! Catwoman in the orginal Batman series!!! even hotter!

  • Those closeups of Julie make me drool!

  • a timeless song, thanks for sharing it

  • another killer tune ty for sharing!

  • To brilliantcolors7: I think it's John London on bass on this song (it was so in the original key of A, Nesmith-sung version)

  • great song ...has a timeless sound ...written by mike ......very cool song today ,,and back then it must've sounded pretty good too(lol)

  • What a cat that Julie really is! I purr for her affections!

  • i love the harmonies in this

  • Were the Monkees stoned on each of their individual closeups in this video?

  • Man check out the pins on Julie Newmar. She was so incredibly hot!!!

  • if i were her i would totally choose mike! he's sooooooo scrumtralescant!!! lolz.

  • i believe that either this or all of your toys was the first song they recorded as "real band"

  • great band on this song...micky on drums, peter on harpsichord, mike on guitar, chip douglas on bass and i think hear davy on tamborine.

  • SHE WAS ALSO IN THE TV SHOW-LIVING DOLL

  • Love it. Now I wish Warners would just get off its duff and work out the rights issues on Batman and get it on DVD!

  • Thats Julie Newmeyer, also played Catwoman in the old Batman tv series and various other movies mostly musicals.

  • She's gorgeous

  • Wow! First 10 seconds of this one just smacks you between the eyes!! Magic :-)

  • Julie Newmar, The Monkees and girls being portrayed as Artists. My adult self can see why this was one of my favorite episodes as a kid.Damn, I had good taste even then!!

  • Yeah! Strange isn't it... but I think the cream always rises to the top... and great music never dies!

  • The Cat Woman!

  • I love the Monkees and recently discovered the Cowsills videos on Youtube, didn't know they were the inspiration for the Partridge Family. I can't believe it but I'm currently more obsessed with the Cowsills than the Monkees!

  • Yes, even the Cowsills presentation style was copied for The Partridge Family TV show. Check out the YouTube video from emilypoppins titled: The Cowsills - We Can Fly

This video featured them on a ferry and at their Rhode Island home. You'll see some Partridge-looking moments on the video. Enjoy.

  • I just saw the Cowsills on PBS--they did Hair--wow they kicked ass on the vocals, and they had a great band playing, some brothers some weren't there, the "Rain in the park and other things" i would love to hear!

  • Wow, wish I had seen it, I love 'Hair'!

  • Even if he is an heir to the "White Out" fortune, give Mike Nesmith the props... the man can write some damn fine songs!!!

  • isn't white out obsolete? what company came up with white out? if i inherited the 3M post-it note fortune...

  • Julie Newmar was a smoking hot goddess of flesh and bone.Wow

  • This is bad quality unfortunately like a lotof older Monkee posts which is unfortunate for this song and this romp...it's classic. They all played and sang on this one from headquarters. There is clear crisp version of this on here, does anyone know where it is or the link? It sounds so much better and the video is clear. What a GREAT song!

  • Try channel ThisDJ4Hire for better quality vid.

  • Wow, yeah thanks ThisDJ4hire does have a much much better quality video of this. You can watch it in high quality too, thanks so much!

  • To Hell with the monkees lets see some more of Julie Newmar...MEEOOWW!

  • My fave Monkees song....written by Mike (who plays guitar/backup vocals) Micky on lead and drums, Davy on percussion....Peter that great harpsichord and producer Chip Douglas on bass.

  • I wouldn't date all of them - I would just hop on the bike with Mike and split! haha

  • aww mikes so cute at 19:00

  • If you like this be sure to do a search on youtube for 'The Girl I Knew Somewhere- Headquarters Sessions Tribute'. It's another version of this song with Mike Nesmith singing, and it has all these pictures of the Monkees with beards, I guess while they were recording the Headquarters album.

  • ty for some reason i did associate this song with nesmith....did he write it?

  • if i were her i wouldn't take a chance dating them all, i'd just take peter and run!!!!

  • yourmybestfriend101, good point, she should have gone with just one of them, she ends up having a nervous breakdown because she wants all four! That's my dilemma, they are all so cute I want them all!

  • GEEZE forgot this stuff, but SUPER nice to watch. Don't remember Peter's hair being so bouncy

  • Davey looks so small compared to the lanky Julie Newmar. She is awesome and last time I saw her was in the "Too funky" video by George Michael. Wonder how she is.?

  • Wow just watching and listening to these old songs makes me want to go back in tim for a day! Life seemed so carefree and fantastic!

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST B-SIDES EVER!!!!!

  • Julie Newmar fan for life. Why do I only like the ones that are 45 years older now ?

  • 'cos they were the best!!

  • I would sweep together with Mike on a bike

  • i love the monkees.

as far as i'm concerned they are better than the beatles.

i never cared for the beatles.

  • yes, that is no harm done

  • Thank you! I've always loved the Monkees more than the Beatles! I just loved watching The Monkees while growing up. This brings back so much happy memories.

    (08/14/08 - Thurs)

  • i really wish i were her!!!!!! peter is sooooo adorable!!!

  • I dunno... I liked her role in this episode at first, but she's kinda... All over the place here. A little crazy, strange-- annoying? X_x

I saw that episode with her as Catwoman, though, I believe. ^^ She was pretty good in that!

Anyways. Great song! :D Great episode. Love Peter's letter to the TV woman. ;3

  • Yes Peter's letter was hilarious!!! Something about 'my friends mean the world to me and we all love the same girl. My question is, how do I cut them out?' LOL!

  • Something like that! XD Very funny...

  • Ah, Julie Newmar, sex kitten of the 60s. One-time Catwoman on TVs "Batman" (the best in my opinion). What was her talent again?

  • the fact that she had brains and beauty and talent all at the same time and the fact that she is one of the most descent people in hollywood.

  • Touche. You sound like a fan. I just could not remember her for much else except being a celebrity - like some no-talents today. She's OK in my book.

  • MIKE looks incredibly sexy in the black leather!

  • Catwoman!!!

  • Distortion, man.

  • this show is called 'monkees get out more dirt

  • dose any one rember what show this was and i d think it was in 1967 this was iam trying too get this show this is one of my favore pleased help

  • WOW

  • great song :D!!!!

  • Some way, somewhow the same thing was done, someone somewhere did me the same wrong. Well goodbye dear I just can't take this chance with you, my fingers are still burning from the last time, and if your love was not a game I only have myself to blame, that's as may be I can't explain just ask, the girl that I knew somewhere.

  • You tell me that you've never been this way before, you tell me things I know that I've heard somewhere, you're standing in the places and you're staring down through faces, that bring to mind traces of a girl, the girl that I knew somewhere. I just can't put my finger on what it is, that says to me watch out don't believe her, I can't give any reason girl, my thoughts are bound? out in a whirl, I just can't think who in the world is that girl, I know I met her somewhere.

  • cat woman. MEOW!

  • Julie Newmar is soooooooo beautiful. Mike sings a better version of this song, though.

  • I absolutely LOVE the Harpsichord (sp) in this peice!

  • Julie Newmar is as hot/beautiful as any actress/model today. And look how cool she is on the video. MJC

  • The first song where the Monkees insisted on actually playing the instruments. Listed in some trivia books as the first "real" Monkees record for this reason even though it was released after the Monkees had released two full albums of songs written mostly by Brill Building song writers under the direction of Don Kershner.

  • great song, very sixties. Love the Monkees 4 ever...anyone have a time machine so we can go back for a while?

  • I had this 45. Best Monkee song IMO.

  • one of my favorites

  • Julie Newmar was as sleek and sexy as a Jaguar XKE back in the 60's. A great song written by Mike Nesmith. On the "Headquarters" extended version CD, you can also hear the alternate version of this song sung by Mike as the lead singer.

  • Julie Newmar was the object of many of my teenage fantasies, because she was awesome. Absolutely gorgeous, and actually very intelligent.

  • she was the best Catwoman too...Batman should have been all over that

  • one of my favorite monkees song written by mike nesmith

  • I love this song and Julie Newmar is gorgeous and kind of offbeat, very individual. This is so cute and surreal. I love it when Mickey is dancing with Julie, and all the sudden he just loses it and grabs her!

  • Was Mickey in that scene? I'm afraid I could only see her well-filled sweater!

  • Mike looks so hot in that leather jacket.

  • always loved this song

  • just a terrific song :-)

  • Julie Newmar was the ultimate women!

  • great great great!

  • daby got no pant on in this video in the begining and/or no undies!?

  • davy i mean^

  • I love this song~ Although I was a few decades too late to watch the show ^^;

  • me 2 but u can always get the 2 seasons on dvd like i did it was great =]]]

  • I love this song, and this show! The Monkees made like the first music videos! :p

  • Das ist halt noch ne alte Mucke:-)Klasse!!

  • Mike does sing better.

  • oh yes, sexy julie newmar, one of the best female villian. the ultimate cat woman better than the one in the recent batman movie. very sexy indeed in this video.

  • I like Mickey's vocals on this song, but Mike's vocals are so much better

  • Micky's my favourite singer, his voice is the best!

  • I agree

  • me 2

  • I saw Peter Tork recently as a guest on some info-mercial.

  • wish someone would do a guy version of this song a boy i knew somewhere it just needs done cute and fun

  • dance Micky dance!! like there's no tommorrow LOL!! i thought that was cute! love the song by the way!!

  • Mmmm harpsichord

  • Years later in her book she stated that Micky shagged her in the "Green Room" & got her pregnant but he never confirmed it. She said he was high on shrooms & probably didn't even remember.

  • I'll bet Adam West would kick mickey's ass if he found out.

  • Does anyone know whether The Monkees re-runs are being shown in England? Would love to watch them!

  • i wish it was re-run here. (u.s.) i would watch it every day.

  • No but the entire series is available on DVD.

  • Julie Newmar is the most beautiful woman in the cosmos--My Living Doll indeed

  • Living Doll reference!...where Bob Cummings used to press her moles to program her?...oh, I remember that show!

  • SolarTiger. You have brought back memories of Julie Newmar in "Living Doll". She was so sexy in that show. Aarrggghhh! Now I'll need a cold shower to settle down. What was her character name in that show? Rhonda or Rhoda perhaps? Some sort of acronym maybe?

  • Yes...her name was Rhoda Miller (but her "secret" designation was.... AAF709)

  • buregess meredith aka the penguin appeared in the monkees episode monkees paw, whats stranger is batman originally aired on abc and monkees on nbc, rival networks cross promotions hmm

  • Shes a sex machine

  • Julie Newmar has stated in print that this role as April in this Monkees episode was her favorite performance. That's high praise considering the longevity of her career. It makes one sad that there aren't more talented female performers like her working today. Julie was truly an original performer.

  • I love this song, it's so sweet. :)

  • mike nesmith wrote it

  • Yet another great song by Nesmith?! This guy is amazing! I thought he just wrote Mary, Mary and Different Drum but he wrote this too? I love this song! And I didn't realize he wrote You Just May be the One and What am I Doing Hanging Round, among others. I am so glad he pushed to have his songs included in the Monkees records and on tv, they add so much. This is sweet and offbeat. The Beatles didn't write many romantic songs, 'Michelle' comes to mind but it's kina depressing.

  • he was a good writer and singer i remember when this was monday nights in 66 times goes by fast lol.

  • aqui en mexico fueron mas populares que los beatles...

  • This is one of my favorite Monkees songs. I remember when they had their show on Channel 20 out here around 11 pm back in like the mid 80's when they had their reunion tour. I use to pretend I was asleep and when 11 rolled around I'd turn on the tv in my room and sit real close so as not to turn the volume down so I wouldn't get caught. Yeah, I lost a lot of sleep as a child over Mickey Dolenz. <3

  • You totally rock! Love that story. I'm in my early twenties, crazy busy with work, friends, college classes, church but I fully plan my day around The Monkees re-runs - gotta keep my priorities straight ;-)

  • Gran mentira. Fueron popularea, pero no mas que los Beatles.

  • I agree. Lee Meriwether was good but Julie Newmar was the bitchiest sexiest best!

  • Peter in a tux. Mike is a biker. *drools insaitably* Damn you, Juile!

  • Lol I know right she's so lucky! :p

  • Julie Newmar will always be the only Catwoman. ;) Beat it, Eartha Kitt and Lee Meriwether

  • I quite enjoy Eartha Kit, she was one the first mainstream american black sex symbols and that will always mean so much more to me.

  • got that right.

  • thanks for the post.

  • Julie Newmar was so freakin hot!!!!

  • welcome back childhood!!!!!

  • the monkees made it seem necessary to young teens that it was a most to have nice silky hair. What a fad that was at the time; dreaming of a nice relationship and combing your hair all day to look your best. The 60's.

  • shut up deviots..the monkees rock...rule ...and will be 4ever in our hearts

  • I love his green hat!!! Who is he?

  • That be Mike

  • <3<3Peter in a penguin suit *dreamy sigh* That said, what makes this one of my fave Monkee's songs is Mike's echoing vocals in the background. All of this brings back such warm memories of when my father was alive and my world was safe...Love for the Monkees.

  • c1nederel1a:yes that the same woman who play the catwoman in the old batman show.

  • I was thinking Peter kind of looks like André Previn.

  • I love that 60s-esque harpsichord solo!

  • I need to watch my Monkees DVD seasons 1 and 2
