Sufjan - noone cares what you look like. We love you for your amazing mind that produces amazing music. Now PLEASE tour with an orchestra. My life will be complete when I see Sufjan perform this song, and anything off Age of Adz, with a full orchestra.
@Samarasammy1 Yes that is DM....Best live performance ever is seeing Sufjan and DM opening.....they are on that upper echelon. What the audience and performers share is profound to say the least and we all know Words are futile devices....
@nobnobnobnob This isn't even close to a rendition of Sound of Silence, it's Sufjan's song. He just borrowed two lines, as a sort of tribute to Simon and Garfunkle. As classic as Sound of Silence is, this is far beyond it.
@Broatticus Do you kill anyone who disagree with? That's retarded.
Also, he's not even gay, that's a rumour that was started when people didn't realize his song "To Be Alone With You" was about Jesus. Not that it should make any difference.
@sarcasmmister-Yes, I am proud, thank you. I saw final concert @NY and @Olympia, Paris concert, but not Australia ones, so I am very greatful you posted this fantastic video which I love it so much. Their European Tour ends today.
Thank you very much and best wishes to you. mikki from france
@redninja2010 he actually explained it during the show. the whole album and stage show was inspired by a man called Royal Robinson. he was an artist amongst many other things and lived a very fascinating eccentric life. he recently passed away and i think that was that triggered this. until he explained that at the show i didn't quite understand why sufjan went down this path but now i know, it makes total sense and is so very wonderful.
@sarcasmmister Royal actually dies in 97. When I saw him last week, he said he took a lot of inspiration from a book called Star People and just other strange things like that. His illness also had a lot to do with it!
Royal Robertson was a paranoid schizophrenic that had apocalyptic visions and visions of extraterrestrial beings and contraptions. He predicted the next age, and Sufjan Stevens picked that up and envisioned his own new age, "The Age Of ADZ", as he says in the homonimous track, "This is the age of ADZ/Eternal living"
@sarcasmmister Actually, it was Royal Robertson! I read this comment and wanted to find who he was and learn more, and google said "Did you mean Royal Robertson?" and it turns out I did...
His name is actually Royal Robertson. He was a schizophrenic, and he passed away more than a decade ago. The cover of the Age of Adz is based off of an edited painting of Royal's.
@sarcasmmister " Royal Robinson" was more than an eccentric. i. e. he was also a schizophrenic whose visions/drawings, Sufjan uses as his leitmotif/inspiration.
