Although it is only about $1 us to go on the train from Pattaya to BKK, I think I'll stick to either a cab or a bus....thank you. When oh when will a fast train operate between BKK Airport and Pattaya? Can you imagine - Pattaya in 30 minutes on a fast train? On this thing it is 3 hours !!!!!
I myself had seen first time the train between Pattaya & Bkk I must have visited 5/6 time but always travaled by bus or taxi this I had seen for first time.
One of my favourite train journeys was from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to Hat Yai in Thailand, and then an overnight sleeper train to Bangkok. It was a great trip. I never realized you could go from Pattaya to BKK by train. I guess most people take the bus as it would be much quicker. Loved your video, thanks
This video was very interesting and educating. I can't imagine ever participating in any train excursion in Thailand. OMG those people are not very caucasian looking.
@NThusiast Watching this, you can really see the inspiration of some of the stock. For example, the locomotive looks to be a british built type, while the signals are more something you'd expect to see in Germany or Japan. The point work looks straight out of Poland and Germany.
German engineers for insnce helped building the Thai railways in the 1930s. The turnout lanterns/signals for instance are 100% the same as in Germany.

I didnt have time to ride this, but your movie satisfied my curiosity. The bus str8 to the airport takes less than 90 minutes.

Lovely. Thanks. I would never use it after an 11 hour flight, but for a dull day it's great.

Looks to be some infrastructure work going on, new track being laid.

The loco I think was built by Alsthom in France. Not all that old, built in the 1970s and 80s.

100 km takes 3 hours to ride by train? Plus the 40 minutes delay. So the avarage speed is less than 30 km/h. Wow!

@rpl1 Still - 1USD.

well, it´s meter gauge, old rolling stock, an old diesel locomotive and many stops, especially in the Bangkok outskirts.
