@tnagata2020 what if it is needed for food? Did you know that many primitive people still dwell in the heart of Borneo, living off the land as they only know how and can do with very little contact from the outside world? They are the Dyak tribe
I am very interested in finding the identies of poachers and exploiting them to the local and global organizations for the protection of wildcats-where do I sign up?
what an amazing cat! Does anyone know of an organization in Borneo similar to that in the Himalayas-SLE, Agvaantseren? A local program successful in protecting the Snow Leopard. The program empoeres local volunteers to snich on poachers, and subsizes their income.
Hi all. I actually have footage of one of these in the wild. I saw it on a recent trip to Borneo as me and my wife hope to be living there as of next year. The video shows the leopard very agile, climbing and jumping through the trees about 18 metres up in the jungle with a monkey in its jaws! Dont worry as I will be posting this video once the Clouded Leopard Society has had their look!
Yes indeed, beautiful animal, and fantastic video. I would be so pleased to let it know that we are loving how it looks like, but also that we are afraid of it...
i feel bad were killing these animals for there fur and these animal has set great amount of them being endangered like the tiger. abput 50% has become extinct
I am rating this as high as possible, so the world will know about this cat and the government will be given another reason to conserve my country's jungle.
Hey guys, sounds like you're really on the same side. I posted the footage of the Clouded Leopard with the chicken because the media was saying it was an 'hitherto unknown' species. The good news is that hunters would never find them in the Borneo rainforests. The real danger is loss of habitat due to forest clearing for plantations. So it may be a bit unfair to rate this video lowly as spreading awareness of the animal may help the conservations groups in Borneo to save them
I missed in the first comment by the kid that he actually knew it was now classified as a new species. Yes, it had been seen before and grouped with the one from mainland. Not easy to read such a messy response by him. In my reply I meant they had discovered it to be a new species (new finding). Btw. The cat is called "Clouded" not "Cloud".
Prob showing up several posts by me since youtube takes ages (min 45 mins) to post a message.
You are the ignorant, obviously, since you think mankind can be taught on this. Mankind has been the same since it started owning things.
Show me one animal with nice skin that has not been pushed to extinction by us humans. Your reasoning of educating ppl is a vain, childish, and egoistic way of excusing your destructive post of it on youtube.
The ignorant is quite evident, if you actually think you can change mankind's ways. I know what I'm talking about, I work with this.

Show me one animal with nice skin that has not been pushed to extinction by us humans. Your reasoning of educating ppl is a vain, childish, and egoistic way of excusing your destructive post of it on youtube.
The ignorant is quite evident, if you acually think you can change mankinds ways. I know what I'm talking about, I work with this.
as far as animals with nice coats not on the "extinction list" how about tigers, lions, bears, umm beavers, fox, wolf, dog, cat, human, 90% of all species in less than 100 years, by humans, dude you are out of your mind. humans kill a lot of things, its true, but not that many.
If you work in this area I feel pity for whoever has to work with you. You are just plain wrong here.
"Who said a leopard can never change its spots? For over a hundred years we have been looking at this animal and never realized it was unique," said Stuart Chapman, WWF International Coordinator of the Heart of Borneo programme. "The fact that Borneo's top predator is now considered a separate species further emphasises the importance of conserving the Heart of Borneo."
As far as humans making 90$% of all animal species extinct, you need to supply a link to some source if you are going to make claims like that, the worst case scenarios that I have seen is 25-50% in the next 100 years, and that's if we don't do anything.
It would be like if they did a test on you and found that you were in fact not a human, but a separate species of mammal. You are not a new animal and we didn't just discover you, we just know more about you now.
And I agree humans do make many things go extinct but simply hiding animals from humans is not going to solve that, we have to protect the animal and the animals habitat.
B. Give me one species with attractive skin that is not on the extinction list because of us humans. You are either just incredibly ignorant or just very young.
Us humans have eradicated more than 90% of all species already, in just 100 years. Of course, one or two percent of those would have disapeared by natural selection, but that is all.
shao: your reasoning astounds me, A: people have known about this cat for 50+ years, they just didn't know it was a different species than the one on the mainland B:Now that people know what sort of valuable and awesome animals are in these forests they can use that knowledge to help convince people to save this area instead of chop it down and C: if ignorance is bliss you must be very happy.
I'm sad to see it getting such big news. I wish anyone who found a new species would keep it secret.
I'm rating this video as low as possible to push it down the ratings lists so that fewer ppl will find out about it. As if that will help, but it's all I can do atm..
It's an amazingly gracious and beautiful cat I have to say.
Great, we've again exposed an elusive and beautiful animal. Now that we all know of its existens, we can go out there and exterminate this "dangerous vermon" too.
We can hopefully soon see some rich person carrying a skin they can be proud to show off as one of a kind and very expensive.
All pochers, time to go out there and hunt it down.
One of the most beautiful cats on the planet

A better thing to do than arrest poachers is to hire them. They usually just need money, and their expertise is quite helpful.

I recommend you not to comment on issues you are oblivious to.
A. This is a completely new finding and new species. I give you a quote from the press release:
"Clouded leopards from the mainland have fewer and fainter markings within large clouds on their skin. They are also lighter in color."
That is the one known from before. Get facts straight.

well obviously we'd put all the animals in a big reverse bubble on one of the contenants until the fall out cleared up.
then a robot would come and open the bubble and all the animals would be happy.
i have thought this through ya know
