Star trek on the other hand, with 11 titles making it to the big screen, only made $1,013,325,741. And after Star Wars re-releases all 6 of the live action movies in 3D I expect their numbers to almost double. So Star Trek or Star Wars, which is better. Well, the mass majority seem to have chosen Star Wars. so that's where I lay my vote.

Have you actually payed attention to the dialog in SW? Even Yoda - his sentence structure was cute for a bit, but in the prequels, it was downright annoying. The attempts at humor - FUNNY when Harrison Ford did it... not so much when anyone else tried it, altho R2 had his moments...

As for the 'canon' argument about X-wing fighters reaching the death star quickly (ANH), that's more of a discrepancy since they 'accelerate to attack speed' and the film shows TONS of footage of them traveling at jet aircraft speeds.
There wouldn't even be a battle. More like a slaughter. The Galactic Empire has hundreds if not a thousand Star Destroyers & tens of thousands of smaller fighters that all the Star Trek ships would have to face first. If somehow a couple makes it through, then they would face the Executor. Even then, if lets say 1 ship makes it through, then your up against the Deathstar. Star Trek ships may have a better chance at fleeing then standing there ground lol.

Thats the most interesting debate, because a Jedi mind attack on the Borg can go 1 of 2 ways. It might effect 1 mind and be transmitted throughout, OR it could attempt to effect 1 mind and never stick unless the effort was applied to all of them with a direct link to the hive mind without being realized during the delay time, or the queen would just sacrifice cubes with the effected drones.
I'd argue either is possible, but not an absolute certainty.

Actually, they would stalemate each other until Trek found a weakness, since SW vessels are so slow in normal space, and can't even keep up with impulse drive. Their weapons are cannon-based, aimed by dog fighting and turrets that are too slow to track even STs cruising speeds. And since they can go to warp in an instant, I don't see how SW could ever mount an effective attack.

@Idazmi7 PD and MJF are terrible writers based on their ST novels. I don't know about PD's comic book writing but his ST novels are awful. Q-In-Law is probably the worst of those. MJF wrote Kahless and a sequel which are both amazingly bad. I'm not sure about the other writers you listed. The problem with the novels is that they can't take chances with the characters, and even if they did they're not canon so they can be contradicted. And the reset button.

Even if Shakespeare wrote one it would suck because of being so constrained and having to play it so safe.

Outside the Death Star several space ships (Enterprise, Space Shuttle) fly by. For all who want to have a look: it´s called "Winter Sky At Night" and those scenes start at about 0:55.
As for Trek weapons - we have to remember- these are precision instruments. They don't have to be able to obliterate a ship since each ship is capable of obliterating itself.
Say you have a truck full of TNT; A sniper can shoot the driver, engine, fuel tank, tires, or cargo. ST sensors and tracking can establish a lock on moving targets and target exactly what they need to to cripple or destroy.

Statistics don't lie. At the box office, including all 7 movies, Star wars made a phenomenal $2,217,773,316. Star trek on the other hand, with 11 titles making it to the big screen, only made $1,013,325,741. And after Star Wars re-releases all 6 of the live action movies in 3D I expect their numbers to almost double. So Star Trek or Star Wars, which is better. Well, the mass majority seem to have chosen Star Wars. so that's where I lay my vote.

Star Wars and Star Trek are both very well done tv series. If you think Star Trek is boring then you cant wrap your weak mind around whats going on. P.S. - Star wars was never suppost to appeal to acutual science. It was about great action scenes with an actual plot, something that nearly all sci-fi movies are hard pressed to achieve.

As for the 'canon' argument about X-wing fighters reaching the death star quickly (ANH), that's more of a discrepancy since they 'accelerate to attack speed' and the film shows TONS of footage of them traveling at jet aircraft speeds.

There wouldn't even be a battle. More like a slaughter. The Galactic Empire has hundreds if not a thousand Star Destroyers & tens of thousands of smaller fighters that all the Star Trek ships would have to face first. If somehow a couple makes it through, then they would face the Executor. Even then, if lets say 1 ship makes it through, then your up against the Deathstar. Star Trek ships may have a better chance at fleeing then standing there ground lol.

Thats the most interesting debate, because a Jedi mind attack on the Borg can go 1 of 2 ways. It might effect 1 mind and be transmitted throughout, OR it could attempt to effect 1 mind and never stick unless the effort was applied to all of them with a direct link to the hive mind without being realized during the delay time, or the queen would just sacrifice cubes with the effected drones.
I'd argue either is possible, but not an absolute certainty.

Actually, they would stalemate each other until Trek found a weakness, since SW vessels are so slow in normal space, and can't even keep up with impulse drive. Their weapons are cannon-based, aimed by dog fighting and turrets that are too slow to track even STs cruising speeds. And since they can go to warp in an instant, I don't see how SW could ever mount an effective attack.

It runs on 3 Ion drive engines. Impulse drive run on chemical rocket. It may be quicker at getting a craft up to speed but it will also quickly run out of fuel. Where as an ion drive will continue to accelerate a craft for days, months & even years. Its also equipped w/ Hyperdrive System.

@Idazmi7 PD and MJF are terrible writers based on their ST novels. I don't know about PD's comic book writing but his ST novels are awful. Q-In-Law is probably the worst of those. MJF wrote Kahless and a sequel which are both amazingly bad. I'm not sure about the other writers you listed. The problem with the novels is that they can't take chances with the characters, and even if they did they're not canon so they can be contradicted. And the reset button.

Many episodes would never have been allowed as novels (not novelizations) because of that. They also don't get better - Kahless wasn't JMF first ST novel, nor was Q-In-Law PD's first. Even if Shakespeare wrote one it would suck because of being so constrained and having to play it so safe.

As for Trek weapons - we have to remember- these are precision instruments. They don't have to be able to obliterate a ship since each ship is capable of obliterating itself.
Say you have a truck full of TNT; A sniper can shoot the driver, engine, fuel tank, tires, or cargo. ST sensors and tracking can establish a lock on moving targets and target exactly what they need to to cripple or destroy.

The Enterprise-D has displayed teraton level firepower with just it's phasers and 20 ships destroyed 30% of a planets crust in their opening volley, that takes petatons.
