One of the greatest cities in the US - definitely!
One of the greatest cities in the world - don't think so! I'm from Europe (and have traveled around the world) and compared to European cities Charlotte is BORING (but one good thing is that it is not as boring as Atlanta), and very difficult to get around if you don't have a car (which not a lot of people coming from Europe have when they're new here).
@AndyMKordo Okay, to each his own... I'll be the first to admit that Charlotte is not a world class city and is definitely not on the level of international cities such as London, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, etc., but it is a city that is very well respected around the globe. It continues to display and live by a "can do" attitude that many cities, quite frankly, lack.
@adrianroam95 I would absolutely love to, but that is a verrryy far and expensive drive for me. I'm thinking about driving out to the Pacific NW next summer...maybe then?
Many thanks for the truly outstanding video. Your Charlotte videos really capture the verve of the city, and this is from someone whose family has lived in Charlotte from the 1750’s. For those unfamiliar with Charlotte, I believe that ~2:40 shows the Lynx Blue Line (light rail) arriving and departing East/West Blvd Station. The Lynx Blue Line connects the 485 (Charlotte’s Outer Belt) with uptown. Have you ever considered shooting a video from the Blue Line?
@VaFreeways A 5,000-6,000 square foot home in a gated community can be had for around $400,000 to $500,000. Maybe even a little less than that. Definitely less than the exorbitant NoVA market. I believe Charlotte property taxes are the highest in NC, but they are the lowest when compared to other major metropolitan US areas.
Awesome video Evan! The layout of Charlotte is very aesthetic compared to most other American cities. Although you might want a heads up on those political conventions. When St. Paul had the RNC in town the city pretty much turned into a police state with roads closed all over and hundreds being arrested for no reason. Not something I would wish on any city.
@eluko79 I wouldn't worry about the DNC being in town. The RNC in Minnesota was protested by crazy stinky libs. There not going to protest their own convention. Don't worry about RNC protesting, the only thing that would get raided there is a Brooks Brothers! Good video Evan. Thinking about moving to Charlotte from Knoxville. I'm a Republican and there's too many hillbillies even for me here!! Great video!

Excellent production as usual, I've never seen much beyond the highways in Charlotte so this very enjoyable to watch, good soundtrack too, it worked well.
Your video of one of Charlotte's pristine neighborhoods underlines the true beauty and cleanliness around the downtown sector. The video definitely enriched my limitless opinion of one of America's greatest cities! I can't wait to stop by and spoil myself there!

@aswchris This was shot between 5:30 and 6:00 pm in early February on a Saturday. If I remember correctly, it was really cold outside which caused a lot of people to stay inside. Normally, it's pretty busy especially during the spring and summer months.
@IsoscelesKramer Thank you! I'm not sure if that logo will be used for the actual convention. I believe it was created just for the city's bid to win it. I'm sure the DNC will put their touches on it before 2012. :-)
