  • Thank youn for posting this, tears are flowing nicely, bless you all

  • My Mam would have loved this especially on St Davids Day!!

  • Great rendition

  • This is the song that brings myself back to the day when I was up to my waist in slag, when I was there when pulling children from the Aberfan school;I am from Scotland and nothing can wash the tears from my eyes, when I listen to such beautiful singing.

  • Yes sure! I have been away from the "land of my father's" for forty years and never really and truly missed it until recently! As you all say this is a wonderful rendering and so typical of the 'green hills of home' (Tom J). Thanks a lot - my Thai wife also enjoys it and even plays the video more than me. Sadly we have no children to share but anyway ....... thanks again to all (Gwyn in Bangkok)

  • Proud to be from Wales when I hear this.

  • I love this effing hymn...

  • @slipperyfishjohn

It's not a hymn. It's a poem set to music which makes it a ballad (I suppose). But not a hymn - the subject matter is being spurned by a sweetheart. 'Dyma gariad fel y moroedd' is a Welsh hymn. Huw Priday sings that one very well (here is love vast as the oceans - in English). Priday sings it in both languages but I think it sounds most beautiful in the original Welsh. If you search under Huw Priday you'll find it here on YouTube (under the English title).

  • Does anyone know where the choir are singing this??? Just wondering... 'cos it's a really pretty setting!

  • Thank you for the translation, I've loved the harmony for years but never fully understood the context.

Sad Isn;t it? (but the music suggested that anyway,,,,,,,,,,)

Diolch yn fawr for the sound

  • @tridentmusic

Yes I Agree So Sad Yet So Beautiful...Im Glad You Liked It Ty :)

  • @tridentmusic I agree with your comment's,i have loved this song since i first heard it in the film version of How green was my valley. That was over forty five year's ago.I have just found out what the song really means.i had assumed it was a love song but did not know it was so sad.It seems even more beautiful to me now.

  • Old-fashioned or not, a beautiful song, beautifully sung. Thanks!
