Man Brian Cox better than Anthony Hopkins my ass, Hopkins IS Lecter, no one can do it like him, Cox doesn't even look like Hannibal, you look at him and is like "mmm, no, you're not him, let's get another actor" and is not stupid that Lecter remembered the names of the people who ate his sister in Hannibal Rising, let's remember Hannibal is a really inteligent man, (specially Hopkins' Lecter)
This is no surprise to me. Film and Game creators, they have an inaccuracy fetish, don't they? They have this big, fat hard-on for insulting of novels, comics, and even key parts of reality. Of course, they also have a big, fat hard-on for money, but that's all anyone else sees in them.
It is quite disturbing, all of these "source material anarchists". That's all they are, source material anarchists.
And yet people use the Escapism Band-aid in attempt to defend the adaptation. Sad, really.....
@RedGroundBlackSnake Not always. Look at Watchmen! But The Dark Knight was inaccurate yet good. Maybe I can reboot this film series when I become a director, and add it and alter things that it will be enough to make it unpredictable, all the while staying to the genius that it once was...
Tom Noonan better than Ralph Fiennes!? Are you kidding me? Ralph Fiennes' career speaks for itself, amazing actor. The only thing Noonan did better was looking creepy, which is not that hard if you're Tom Noonan.
Thank you so much!!!! I totally agree XD I watched the first 10 mins of Hannibal Rising and I got so bored that I turned it off..failure! Great review!!
i remember michael mann for heat didn't you like that movie. i gotta say i kind of agree with what oliver stone said about jews controlling the media im not a neo nazi or anything but think about it. have you heard of any movies about Chinese massacres or African ethnic cleansing and im sure there would be an indian one in there somewhere but schindlers list gets one. its a little hard to watch as well ending pays off though
Lector is from Lithuania. Not Germany. His family are aristocrats, that's the reason why he lived in a castle. His family is killed by Nazi deserters. None the less Hannibal Rising did, indeed, suck. I don't mind Hannibal...Its not the best movie but I can still watch it.
@FilmMasterAdam Buffalo Bill along with Leatherface and Norman Bates were all inspired by real life killer Ed Gein who cut off womens parts and made masks/suits out of them he like Bates was obsessed with being a woman. That's why Bill was like that, he wanted to be a woman like Gein.
@GeoWing2 I heard the last two books sucked, especially Rising. The movie made me feel sick. Like Alex getting brainwashed by Ludovico sick. I just needed air. At the end of the movie I gasped "the horror, the horror". Then again I uttered that phrase throughout the picture. I also cried like Harvey Keitel from BL or RD but I don't have to get into that.
nbc is making a hannibal tv series based off red dragon

I honestly think Anthony Hopkins is the much better Lecter, but Cox was still very very good as Lecktor.

This is how I'd rank them, personally...
Red Dragon
Silence of the Lambs
Manhunter
Hannibal
Hannibal Rising
