This is probably the most dangerous example of some one out to kill them self... no respirator, no safety equipment of any sort, short sleeves, breathing in all the paint mist and solvent used to thin the paint????!!!! What were you thinking? Hopefully no one else decides to follow your example. Please people, read the instructions regarding safety! This guy just took 10 years off his life and poisoned himself in the process.
@joaocarlosdalmeida This guy is acting like a thunderstorm is on the way and he must get this boat painted in 15 minutes. It looks like he's at the carwash rushing before his money runs out... he has only $2.00 and there is still wax on the car and he needs to use the spot free rinse but he only has 30 seconds left and the beeper is going off. haha.
The compressor is a Home Depot Husky- upright single stage with a 80 gal tank or so. You really need an air dryer for when it's humid or you will get water with the air. The gun is either a Devilbiss or Sears- both worked ok. If I was doing cars the Devilbiss is far better...but for a boat even the Sears or other cheapo is fine. Always scuff and use a good solvent and plenty of clean towels or rags to wipe it down first. I also always use fisheye eliminator. Thanks for the post!
@tuyyo51 -- I cut the paint with either acetone or xylol, can't remember which, what ever the label called for. I had a problem painting late in the day..when the dew came at night on the soft paint it fogged it...so I had to paint twice. I used about a 2 quarts of reduced paint, about 1.5 quarts from the cans. I like a heavy coat even if it's got orange peel or such...always figured a heavy coat is more resistant to scratches and marks. Thanks for the note!
@nsync111183748 I know! I always liked heavy paint- this is Rustoleum Topside marine paint, I really liked working with it. Years ago I used Dupont Centari with the 100S hardner for whatever the car was I had bought...I didn't care about orange peel- I just wanted a heavy coat that wouldn't chip through.
i bet he is so hiigh!!!!

Great result! My boat needs a new paintjob too and I would like to do that myself as well.
