This is such an awesome video. It raises so many philosophical questions of our place in this world.
For those who truly understand the implications of the story, it is a dire warning to pull our heads out of our commercialism and manage our dominance. Beautiful art, but it shares a major fault with Bakshi. The constant "morphing" gets in the way. It started out as a funny satire (reminded me of the annoying "hipster" types who infest Brooklyn), but it degenerates into an ego trip for the animators.
Three minutes of morphing isn't interesting, funny, or philosophical, unless you've taken drugs, which I do not encourage.
We have ways of determining which one of us is more important, powerful, dominant, etc...
However, it's all meaningless if we don't assert ourselves as masters of this world.
All our ways of displaying our dominance (crapping out a new style of clothing, etc...) can easily become our downfall when/if a new species comes along and has the ability to dominate us.

This is such an awesome video. It raises so many philosophical questions of our place in this world.
For those who truly understand the implications of the story, it is a dire warning to pull our heads out of our commercialism and manage our dominance. We never know when one of the trillions of galaxies in our universe will spawn a species that is more advanced and wants to dominate us the way we dominate the lions of Africa.

Beautiful art, but it shares a major fault with Bakshi. The constant "morphing" gets in the way. It started out as a funny satire (reminded me of the annoying "hipster" types who infest Brooklyn), but it degenerates into an ego trip for the animators.
Three minutes of morphing isn't interesting, funny, or philosophical, unless you've taken drugs, which I do not encourage.

Humans have become the apex predator of Earth.
We have ways of determining which one of us is more important, powerful, dominant, etc...
However, it's all meaningless if we don't assert ourselves as masters of this world.
All our ways of displaying our dominance (crapping out a new style of clothing, etc...) can easily become our downfall when/if a new species comes along and has the ability to dominate us.
