  • im fixing to buy a running v4 out of this same car as far as i can tell its stock my plan is to put it on my raceing garden tractor to replace the 12horse power briggs and stratton i think it might have sufficent power being it can move this car quickly all they want for it is 120 bucks its in a running car but its in a junk yard so the whole car isnt for sale just engine and parts

  • god that sounds great

  • I drove my friend's V4 and I have to say the engine sound fully makes up for the FWD. Such a fun car to drive!

  • Cute ... but the most beautiful, fastest and an utterly gorgeous -- see the Sonett V: Design Inspiration for the Vector W2 & Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS on Wiki -- Saab or for that matter Sonett, if there ever was such thing. What is weird is that despite Saab Sweden having been reported to have received detailed and multiple image files of that c. 1971 Los Angeles International Show Car Design Winner ... back in c. 1999, they claim no knowledge: SERGIO! That is weird ... in-fighting ... legacy robbery.

  • ..con't....But of course, you would have to have 1/2 a brain to understand these concepts. One of the most fun cars I have is a 1974 Fiat 128SL. It is a blast to drive. 0-60 it is slower than just about anything around. Of course, the fun quotient is off the chart with handling, performance in curves, a baby Ferrari sound, and the like. None of which you will find in a Nissan or Honda sedan, most of which will be gone in 5 years. Performance has many facets.

  • What I think is odd is this new breed of dumb@ss who takes a modern car and compares 0-60 times with vintage hardware. Yeah, we all get it. There are modern Honda's out there that will beat the 0-60 times of the slower, 80's V-8 Ferraris. I can also put a 911S engine into an old VW and beat many new cars. But I would still be driving a dumpy old VW, and you would still be driving a Honda. 0-60 is not the benchmark of how great a car is, nor how sporting it is.

  • @ToyKingWonder if you were referring to my earlier comment about 0-60 times, i was actually comparing it to a 1989 nissan micra..... just for comedic value really, i mean the micra's pretty slow... and this is slower still. doesn't make it a bad car, it's just funny.

  • @purklefluff OK...it's been lot of fun reading all these comments. :) This V4 engine has little over twice as much power than stock Sonett engine...I guess it helps in 0-60 times! Of course it isn't enough for all these youtubesupraskyline1000whptuners but in 770kg car it does the job pretty well.

  • I'll take two, thanks.

  • What are the modifications on your saab?

  • for a 1970s car, i think this car is pretty fast considering saab only built front wheel family cars....

  • Fyfan vad skön den är!

  • my father used to be a volvo/saab tech and according to him he worked on a few of these cars. its a damn shame there so rare my dream saab is a 92 or 93 but a sonnett 3 or 2 would bew my second choice

  • HOW CAN I HAVE A SOUND LiKE THiZ WiTH A NORMALY 4 ZYLiNDER..?

  • Sounds like a V8.

  • Wow, that sounds amazing. And looks amazing too.

  • That is one sweet ride! Perfect color, wheels, and sound! I'm sorry that car is just bad-ass!

  • Sonnettes are so cool!! I love saabs

  • I never knew these existed until I went to a Swedish car show on Sunday and now the Sonett is one of my favorites. Great video as well.

  • Micra? couldn't give a flying **** if your tumble dryer was quicker, I'd take the saab everytime :-)

  • SUPERRRRRRRRRR

  • Thumbs up by the way!

  • JohnnyV4 am not being sarcastic here. Your car IS cooler then a Ferrari. No question about it.

  • @purklefluff I Don't think so. Your Nissan dosen't even reach 20mph when THIS car reaches 60mph. That's hilarious!!!

  • @purklefluff All I can say is, that this Sonett isn't stock...and it still isn't very fast, but it surely can beat 10.6 seconds. :)

  • @JohnnyV4 well maybe. i wouldn't like to put money on it though =D. haha.

  • @JohnnyV4 does it sounds like that? didnt think so

  • @purklefluff around 60 hp in the sonett

  • @purklefluff The fact is Nissan Micra suck balls! This is a proper car!

  • @OGRMaster yeah you missed the point.

of course the micra sucks balls! it's a micra!

i was just laughing about the fact that this awesome looking and sounding car is slower to 60mph than a boxy tin can micra. i mean what's with that?

  • @purklefluff I know what u meant. Just highlighting my point.

  • @purklefluff dude why the fuck would you want to drive a nissan micra??? like id rather walk then be seen in one of those shit boxes

  • @Xstung0nceX yeah you completely missed the point i was making.... of COURSE the micra sucks balls.... doesn't mean it's as funny as hell that this awesome looking and sounding car is actually slower. LOL.

  • @purklefluff Its not though he has a built engine for sure and besides speed is not the only way to gauge performance, handling is almost more important then speed. The sonett will will chop the balls off your micra (if it had any) on a race track

  • @purklefluff

Did you not notice the word "tuned" in the description? Besides: your micra is ugly.

  • @purklefluff Who the fuck's PROUD of owning a goddamn Micra?

  • @Merstheman i think you missed the point i was making... i never said anything about being proud of owning a micra. hell, it's a boxy slow tin can of a car.

but i sure find it funny that it's faster to 60mph than this car, which to all intents and purposes looks and sounds the business.

  • @purklefluff Buy a taschia!!!!

  • @purklefluff

It would be quite sad if 20 years newer car was worse than older one... Oh wait, that's how it goes today

  • So cool.....

  • Now when the Saab Spyker Automobiles has born, they should reborn the legend of Sonett sports car. PS I love Sonetts and Convertible-models and they are my absolute dream cars<3.

  • Now when the Saab Spyker Automobiles has born, they should make a sports car in common as a new Saab Sonett :P . Sonett and the convertible models are my absolute dream cars <3.

  • PS Sonett and 900/9-3 Convertible are my absolute dream cars <3

  • Now when Saab Spyker Automobiles has born, they should rebuild the legend of Sonett sports car!

  • what a fucking idiot! FUCKALL

  • Damn nice for a tractor motor, huh! With a few mod's, it could trump a lot of V8's!

  • got to love the Sonnett. it defined sports car and that is a nice one!! beautiful!

  • The Mustang of Saab, great car...if only I wasn't a fetus in the 70's, I so woulda' had that car.

  • I was beyond a fetus ... in fact I was a fetus about 20 years after the 70's. But I'm still utterly in love with this thing. Jesus, I want one.

  • @KrysPL can always try to acquire one now

  • @yamahonkawazuki I would, but my 9-5 still might have a few years left in her, once it goes though... then it's Sonett time.

  • Yeah RIGHT!

    You're pathetic.

  • almost sounds like a Subaru WRX, amazing !

  • Cool!

  • lol all the awsome sound of the ford 1.7 V4 :p love it

  • Vlooow vlooooom..... vluoooum. Love it, sounds awesome

  • That's a gorgeous sounding V4! Love it

  • makeat soundit !

    monta hv suunnillee tässä?

  • v8 small block maybe

  • how much HP???

  • Nice sound the Ford V4 engine

  • actually the v4 in saabs cars where developed by saab together with ford. There are some differences. and ford even advertised the taunus in germany as a car with a saab engine.

  • LOL it sounds like a V8... great SAAB.

  • I miss my Sonnett! I had the same car but it rusted out.

  • two- or fourstroke?

  • four

  • Listen its sounds and figure out

  • can't you hear the valves?

  • the sound is awesome

  • I owned a '73 (black & gold) that had only 6,000 miles on it when i bought it in '93. These were high quality, rugged, and gorgeous cars. Mine never failed to start, no matter the weather. i used to keep it garaged all winter, but my main car got totalled, so i had to drive the Sonnet during a Connecticut winter! It never got stuck, handled great in the snow & ice. Too bad Saab did'nt keep building them, they knew what they were doing!

  • Haha! Fuck yeah that is bad ass!

  • I once owned a green 74 sonnett that my dad bought new in Alaska. Sold it in '89 like a dumbass to buy a truck. Wish I still had it. Had 9000 miles when I sold it to the saab dealer in Phoenix, AZ. Had it up to 120 mph which I think was max on the speedo. Head lights would pop up on their own at 94.

  • Anyone know what the top speed is on these cars?

  • Around 101mph. 0-60 in 12.4 seconds. These are manufactures specs.

  • its higher than that more around 118 from what ive heard, i havent personally gotte nto drive my sonett like that yet but i hope i will get to

  • Beautifull little car!

  • You call this little sports car a pile of shit??? Come on! This is an awesome little car! It is agile, it scales up mountains and, of course, it makes a nice noise!

  • @MagnumFIN Go play some more video games your fister.

  • Guys... not only does that Saab Sonnett III sound great, but that sports coupe is also a very pretty sight for sore eyes! The V4 sounds like a horizontally-opposed engine. It runs like one except that the cylinder banks are DIAGONALLY opposed instead of FLAT. If the cylinder banks are set 90 degrees apart, this is what is called a "right angle opposed" engine. If the cylinder banks are an angle less than 60 degrees, it is considered a "narrow-angle" V engine.

  • The sound at 1:40 (oncoming) just made my hair stand on end. Looks like crazy fun!

  • That is one of the nicest sounding engines!!

  • It has dual exhaust with H-pipe.

  • mpg??

  • The sound of that has the ability to make a nun cum.

  • To make a nun cum??? Well, if the V4 engine made enough vibrations and the car was equipped with a dildo on the driver's side! He...he...he!!!

  • Haha, yeah they weren't the smoothest engines, maybe if they had put a second balance shaft in there. Sure sounds badass though!

  • God that sound!!!Who cares about the power, that sound is pure evil! My family and I have been saab fans all our lives, general motors ruined them, but this....this is amazing.

  • Brings back memories. Have had many cars, but the Sonnett III is one of my all time favorites. Too bad most of the ones you find now are trashed.

  • But let me also remind you that these Sonnett IIIs look lovely. They are basically rejuventated, re-scupltured Sonnett IIs. Only the doors from the Sonnett II were left alone from the previous generation.

  • I've been planning to buy a Saab Sonett III if I possibly can find one, so can you tell me are there any cons?

  • The Saab v-4 is a Ford industrial motor.Very stout can make serious horsespower.Stock 75?

  • Sounds a hell of a lot better than those ricer jap crap cars.

  • The cutout for the air filter looks so shitty. Why not take the time and at least make a hood scoop, or better yet a cowl induction type setup? It would go great with the Sonett's styling.

  • Man, that thing is purring.

  • That Sonett III is the cats ass!!! What is the HP figure for that Ford V4?????

  • pen tomgang
