I hope us fans get a season 3 I am so wanting more of this show really bad nice but not good enough the ad has to be in all theaters in order for this to work I go to the movie a lot and I did not see this I am upset you need to work harder I support the show I tell people about it as I even gotten people to enjoy the show and they two are now wanting a season 3 some people did not even know the Terminator was turned into a show until I told people.

But here is a very simple answer hopefully you understand:

John changed the timeline we all know where he is the leader. He jumped into the future before JDay, so he never grew up leading the resistance. He jumped to a future where he didn't grow up in, and lead the resistance, since he jumped ahead in time.
