  • I thought that electric engines were used when submerged, except if the submarine had a snorkel and then could use diesel engines. This documentary suggests that diesel engines were used underwater without the use of a snokel. Am I missing something?

  • Earlier in the war A dutch sub the O21, under command of F.van Dulm, sank the German U boat U95. This happend in the naberhood of Gibraltar atNov. 28 1941.

  • Penang is my hometown! Imagine if the boys had put to sea a day later or earlier or had they not struck bottom, they would've been holidaying in a tropical paradise!

  • Why didn't these guys go through the Baltic Sea instead? It would be both a shorter trip and a lot less dangerous than sailing around the whole Atlantic...

  • I wonder where they went to film the scene inside the engine room of the sub with the diesels running?Probably being turned over on air,but still its great to see them moving!I cant imagine them having a budget big enough to build a set that accurate.Maybe the same boat/set as was used in "Das boot"?

  • If Willy Tranzia (Spelled?) was on U-864 then why is it that Edeth Vestler (Spelled?) paying tribute to someone on U-865? 02:14
