Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!! Thank you for this. We have PBIS at my son's high school, and it simply seems contradictory to common sense. When I asked him to take out the garbage, he said "what am I gonna get for it?"---I was dumbfounded, but he explained to me at school if he does something that is expected of him (Like showing up to class on time), he gets candy, soda, lunch coupons, and other things. I am not pleased with this program...at. all.
I do not recognize this definition of Positive Behavior Supports. We have fully implemented this in our school without the use of any extrinsic rewards.
