  • I wish you would have spelled Civil correctly.

  • after i watched this video, my insight is very open because the video Army MOS 38B is very good to give information

  • I am very happy to see the vidoe Army MOS 38B Cival Affairs Specialist after you give this

  • Nice Video That's where they weed people out. If you've done a 12 under 3 you can do it again. Can't tell you more than that besides that CA selection will also test your intelligence and street smarts and adaptability and cool That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • Your Video Army MOS 38B Cival Affairs Specialist Is Very Useful Sharing

  • I want to be O-1 In a Reserve CA unit =D

  • My bad... Not " worked with "A" CA. I did not mean to put the A in there

  • @claym2973 I don't know what you are talking about dude. I have worked with a CA. They are NOT MOSTLY sf. One CA I worked with was at least 240 or 250 pounds.... and FAT not muscle. On top of that, I have never seen a SF female..... And trust me... I am no hide behind the wire guy. But take it as you want. But my experience with SF/ CA as compared to what you may have experienced may be completely different.

  • WHAT?! special forces?! if i knew about this, i wouldnt have chosen dental specialist!

  • CA SSG here it's a very rewarding reserve career...talk to a recruiter if you are interested it's a critical MOS and always needed. GL

  • Also with deployment, as a reservist you can volunteer for deployments with any other CA unit across the country. If you're stationed in California and the unit in New Jersey is heading out, you can volunteer and possibly get attached to them for deployment. I'm trying to jump on that as much as possible myself. Didn't enlist so I could sit on my hands at home.

  • For Active Duty CA you have to be an E-5 and above, since they're special operations. Reserve CA is not under SOCOM so you can contract into it when you enlist.

I wanted to be AD and planned on switching from reserve to active as soon as I made E-5, but now I realize that active duty CA actually does less. They're fast response, first on the site kind of deal while the reserve component is in the long haul of rebuilding. My battalion deploys on average once every 2 1/2 years.

  • I am a cadre and I know TKMSeznam12 is full of crap. Like candy man siad if you want to beaome CA, make surre you have a secret clearance and let you recruitor know. You will attend school for 6-9 months depending on what language they give you.

  • @claym2973 @claym2973 I am a SSG who just reclassed into finance, but I know it isn't for me. Is there a time frame I need to be at my new MOS before I drop a CA packet? Is there an age limit? I will be 40 in Aug. Is there a time in service limit? I will hit 15 years in June. Most of all I have a P-3 hearing profile. Was told I needed to be a P-2 or lower. Is there a waiver? Thanks for your time.

  • @jbree005 You're almost 40. One thing to keep in mind is that CA is Special Operations. If you can jump out of an airplane, do a 12 mile ruck under 3, and go through selection where you'll sleep 2 hours a night then go for it. Hey, I did it at 38.

  • @macpora What does selection consist of? Not to keen on 2 hours of sleep a night LOL, but been through various times in my career when I had about that. I have been rucking a lot more lately getting ready for the ruck marches, never been my strong suite in the Army, but I've done a fair share of 12 milers in under 3. As for Airborne, scared of heights, but I won't let it stop me from doing anything. I love a challenge. Can you think of anything else that will prepare me for schooling and CA

  • @jbree005 Selection is selection. That's where they weed people out. If you've done a 12 under 3 you can do it again. Can't tell you more than that besides that CA selection will also test your intelligence and street smarts and adaptability and cool. Yes you have to jump out of an airplane once in a while, but if you want to deploy to Tanzania for a few months and work on making sure they are on our side instead of just shooting people then this might be for you.

  • @LindsKStrong I was in a Civil Affairs Unit for four years. Just tell your army recruiter you want to join Civil Affairs. You dont have to be a weekend warrior, it for active duty as well. The video is correct, as a CA officer your living with the locals and helping them with their issues. Its a great job and a great feeling. If you choose the reserve and can pick your deployments. you can go to places in europe, south america, or the middle east. Civil Affairs is a good choice.

  • @TheCandyMan01 Thanks for replying! My recruiter said it's ONLY for reservists, and that's just not something I want to do right now. If I'm going to put myself into something, I want to go all the way. I decided to go with the Air Force because I feel as a woman it would be better for me. Not that the Army isn't good for women, just I feel the AF would suit me more. Thanks again though!!!! :)

  • @LindsKStrong There are some acvive duty CA units

  • @TheCandyMan01 I really doubt you were Civil Affairs. Or a soldier. Being Civil Affairs doesn't allow you to choose anything. It's the Army- they choose for you. Active Duty CA are mostly Ex-SF, you cannot join unless you are chosen.

  • Can someone help me. I've been set on the Air Force but to make sure I went and talked to the Army to see what they have to offer. I scored fairly high on my AFQT and they want me to take a civil affairs specialist job. The job sounds PERFECT but I don't really want to be a weekend warrior. I want to be in the field and in the action. How likely would that be?

  • @LindsKStrong join the air force. trust me.

  • The recruiter offerd me 37f and 38b

(this is extension of my last post)

  • It sounds like alot of you know this job well. I am prior service of 9 1/2 years and thinking going back into reserves. So I have a question. The reserve recruiter told me I could go to the training unit in Encino , Ca and not be deployed because it is a training unit. I am kind of tired of the deployment shit, Ive done plenty. After looking at what this job is, it looks like major deployment. What is your input? You can email me with feedback at robmillerbroker@charter.net Thanks a lot.

  • @robmillerbroker My recruiter told me it is a high deployment MOS. Doesn't mean you will go, but wouldn't be out of the question.

  • whats the minimum scores needed for this MOS on the ASVAB?

  • @steezyc69 you need an ST (skilled technician) score of 110. If you get like a 60 on the AFQT you should be alright.

  • call me a pussy...but i really want to do this job. How much combat will i see on this mos?

  • @Lookingforfourfor A lot. You leave the wire and go into villages. Much of the time your tied into infantry units. Expect action.

  • @BhsMike thank you! right now im considering this or IT specialist. I really am interested in both jobs, having trouble deciding.

  • Civil Affairs isn't even close to an IT specialist. lol. They work in SMALL teams in the heart of battle and spend a considerable amount of time in the field during combat. If you're interested in a desk job (from what I've seen), Civil Affairs isn't for you!

  • @Lookingforfourfor

Please explain how this MOS is pussy.

  • is this kinda like missionary work?

  • man I would love to do this but I'm horrible with a foreign language

  • what if you hate dealing with people... lol, i want to do this kind of stuff minus the ''people skills''

  • how long are they usually deployed?

  • @yellowberrypie 6 months since they're SOF

  • @kevind15 thanks

  • @yellowberrypie No problem

  • Does this MOS give a SF Tab?

  • @deguimerautube No it gives airborne, but you do have the opportunity to work with SF to earn the tab, and many CA males go SF.

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • Do alot of PSYOP guys go SF too?

  • Comment removed

  • No. Only MOS that gives the SF tab is 18-series.

  • this MOS has changed my life, theres no other feeling in the world that can compare seeing the smile on a afghan kids face knowing you made his life a little

    bit easier.

  • @Californianboy626 Afghanistan blows.

  • i just enlisted for this mos, shipping out to bct at ft knox on feb 17, then to bragg for ait. im very exited. any ca guys here? hows ait like?

  • its cool ull like it

  • when i joined i was 21B but, then they found out i Speak Arbic. (My dad is Muslim) they try 2 put me in something like this.

  • How do you FIND OUT you speak arabic? :D

  • Just so you know that was directed toward that PowerofOne loser.. god i hate people like that.

  • Just a question. As an Active Duty CA Officer/Specialist, do you do deploy with SF teams occasionally or is that all SOCOM smoke and mirrors? Very interested in doing this type of work after college and would like some info from someone who's experienced in this MOS.

    Thanks!

  • Find a better place to ask, and tailing SF shouldn't be your primary reason to choose this MOS.

  • Don't make the mistake of thinking that wanting to "tail" SF is a primary concern of mine. I'm majoring in Middle Eastern Studies, thinking about taking Arabic. Hell, I've even thought to shooting for SF after I get out of college.

Just exploring an avenue where I can apply my skills to help my country, that's my primary concern.

  • Active duty CA are ligned up with every SF Group and there are 2 reserve units that are ligned up with the Special Operations Command one being out of Ohio and the other out of Ft. Bragg NC. If you go reserve and do not get any of those units there still is a great possiblity you will work with a SOCOM Unit down range still. Email me if you have any more questions on this issue. I'm a trainer in CA with 2 deployments as a CA Specialist

  • @armyof1fthuachuca You seem to have the most sense on this topic. I am a SSG, and have to reclass form 13B. Can you tell me about CA more in depth than the video. Training, deployments, off duty time, promotion to E-7 and up... pretty much anything you can share, Thank you.

  • @jbree005 I'm an SSG that reclassed from 11B. I'm in the middle of the CA pipeline right now, just finished language school. Let me know if you still have questions.

  • I do have a few questions if you have a few minutes. I'm a SSG trying to get in the field.

  • @macpora I need more info on 38B please.

  • i dunno what they told u but i im goin 2 ft benning 4 basic new thing is u arnt required 2 be an e5 or higher 2 be active duty their trying to switch civil affairs 2 active their moving it from USAR to SOCOM its in my contract they have 1 active duty battalion at brag as it is true that most 38b's are still reserve it is changing c 4 ureself type it into google if u wish and click on the reserve link that comes up the lt gen. of the army reserve says it aswell

  • ACTIVE DUTY IS FAR DIFFERENT THEN RESERVE 38Bs!!! they're not even in the same league!!!!

    95th, 96th, 97th, 98th, 91st.......ACTIVE DUTY!

to be active duty you have to be an e5 and get your e6 when you graduate the q course. You can do SOCM training and become a 38W now, too....

Pogue..pay attention, don't argue with me when I know what I'm talking about..if you're a reservist, same goes for you.

  • Jeez you a real pro, calling everyone pouge.....You know what ? Ive patroled Iraq and Afganistan with CA and psyops like you that think they're hot shit, but do stupid shit on patrols and get bitchslapped back into place....If your an NCO, act like one and stop arguing with kids from pre-basic and grow the fuck up.

  • do me a favor..I'm not CA!!!! I'm not a psyop37F neither...I've just been around them in the SOF community.

    Caretaker...you don't know what you're talking about.

Bragg has 95th BDE, 91st, 96th, 97th, 98th and more BNs standing up.

  • So ur not 38B or 37F but yet u still open ur ignorant mouth on a subject that u obviously know little about. And u hang around us cuz u wanna be us one day but for some odd reason u cant. so u act like u know but u really dont. That is what people call a WANNABE. This shit all makes sense now

  • Really cause last time i checked the 91st, and 97th havent been stood up yet.

  • I've been doing CA for 10 years now yes it's very rewarding especially if you are a senior NCO. I spent 2.5 yrs in Afghanistan in Gardez and Ghazni. It is a VERY demanding MOS. Civil Affairs soldiers get to train in just about every environment in the world at ANY time. In both Iraq and Afghanistan CA soldiers spend the most time outside of the FOBS and see a lot of civil action as well as combat action. Small team chemistry is a must in this MOS.

  • ok, for all CA folks, are you happy with the job your doing? CA looks very interesting to me, and i'm looking at going into it. Its either CA or PSYOPS......but at MEPS i found out that i'm partically colorblind, and I know that Psyops requires perfect color vision. Let me know what you think. Thanks

  • Did MEPS tell you it wouldn't be a problem? I'm in the same boat as you.

  • Just talked to my recruiter and a second recruiter, both say we're screwed. Normal COlor Vision is required. If you hear diffrent let me know.

  • rickjack76, you're a moron. CivilAffairs is much more needed. You have to be an E5+ to be a 38B. 37F/psyops can be done by jr. enlisted. Former 37Fs UPGRADE and become 38Bs, it's not the other way around.

  • well actually..that's only for Active Duty, so privates can do CA in the reserves..and my drill sgt in AIT was CA before he was psyop..it goes both ways..and it's 37F/Psyop

  • the National Guard also has it open for new recruits.

  • i'm pretty sure they do..but only NCO's and Officers can do active duty CA

  • Im only a PFC and Im CA. 38B/404th BN B Company Hoooahh!!!!

  • you're not a real 38B..and you know it..what did you go to language school for? that's what I thought...you're even airborne? jesus....pogue.

  • I am in fact a 38B. I am in the reserves. Language school is not madatory. But my reserve unit is the only reserve airborne unit in the army. Look it up. and yes i do have my jump wings... And CA is my first and only MOS. AIT was in Ft. Bragg. A company 1SWTG(A). Most of our classes were in the JFK Center. What else would u like to know?

  • were do you get that you need to be E5+ to be CA? I just joined a CA Batallion as a 42A and after BCT and AIT imma reclass to CA imma be a SPC by then. Plus some of the other pre-basic soldiers are PV1's and PV2's and up and their CA

  • you're retarded...ACTIVE DUTY!!! TO BE A 38B YOU HAVE TO BE A E5 AND WHEN YOU GRADUATE YOU NOW GET YOUR E6! YOU'RE A 42A S1 POGUE!! STFU AND DO MY NCOER! reserve 38Bs aren't in the same league as active duty 38Bs, 'nuff said...

    p.s. I'm not even CA, I'm SF..pogue.

  • Please your not SF your a fucking wannabe loser,,, If you were really SF you wouldnt be arguing about Civil Affairs on youtube with some people you dont even know... plus it POG ..ur a fucking idiot and YOU are the fucking pog

    ODB -255..come get it.

  • They all want to be psyop. That's ok, we need people to build schools and hand out money for our psyacts.
