I am from Latvia as well but I should say that Russia provided us with most of the industry we have, 99% of the roads, all hospitals, all schools and most of the apartments and houses. Latvia has paid nothing for it.

Russia had to give ITS Baltic territories as the result of Treaty of Brest-Litovsk. The West wanted to create the buffer states as in the present days. Stalin just returned them. Of course by that time there were lots of saboteurs so what USSR should have done about them? In 1991 despite of the Referendum Eltsin the Judas gave independence to Latvia particularly.

I am from Latvia as well but I should say that Russia provided us with most of the industry we have, 99% of the roads, all hospitals, all schools and most of the apartments and houses. Latvia has paid nothing for it.
