Given the buh-zillions of songs they could use--why U2? Hearing Greg use cooking as a metaphor for music is amusing. The guys look great. That Studebaker thing--c'mon, man. After just reading "See A Little [Editor]" by Mould, I can't help but see him as the bitterest of the trio. Still his current music is crisp and powerful, and his voice remains powerful. Why the bitterness and inability to loosen up have a laugh and occasionally knock out a Huskers tune with the boys? What good is that?
Bob and Grant are major enemies. Don't know about Greg. He never sang a lot, don't know if that's what the quarrel is about. I had a long talk with Greg before the show the one time I saw them in 1985. Very cool guy. Who'd have thought they were all gay? I never picked that up, but my gaydar had not developed yet, by then.
@Shaytan67 I sneaked in backstage when they played in Stockholm june 3 1987. They were in pretty bad shape, but the gig was one of the best i´ve ever been to.
That's Grant Hart sitting with Greg Norton in the restaurant, isn't it? I had thought no one in the band talked to anyone anymore. I wonder if Bob Mould and Greg are still friends.
Zen Arcade is one of the best releases ever but they got progressively more monotonous(read:pop) after New Day Rising. Bob Moulds solo stuff and with Sugar is just alternative muzak. I'm surprised they don't play it at Starbuck's...
The spirit style creativity and powerful energy of these men is something we will probably never see again in a profit driven, mass media mindlessness world of today's music. There are exceptions (Moby, for example) but the days of making it big by getting discovered by Warner Brothers is definitely over. It is sad too, because, they really did epitomize the "do your thing" of the minneapolis sound. I love Bob Mould, and like his efforts with Rich Morel. I am glad they are in DC.
The "Swedish" thing is a common misconception. "Husker du" (no umlauts) means "do you remember" in Norwegian and Danish. The board game featured macrons over the 'u's as a pronunciation guide, which may have been the inspiration for the heavy-metal umlauts.
Just for the record, Hüsker Dü wasn't named after a Swedish boardgame, it was a Norwegian one or possible a Danish. "Husker Du" doesn't mean anything in Swedish...
does anyone know the song that starts at 2:40?

Greg is straight - and unfortunately a complete asshole as well. The douche bag has now ruined 3 marriages. Hope he got herpes or hep.

Wow, Greg always had the mustache of a chef. I can easily picture him trowing pizzas up in the air.

What kind of idiot decided to have over half the music in this feature be from bands that are NOT Husker DU?!?!?!?

@oppositecar Greg Norton is straight? I thought he was the gayest one of all? What about his YMCA moustache?

@NORDSTRAND83
Greg's mustache is curly, but the rest of him is straight. Read the Earles Husker bio or Bob's autobiography.

@thatnamesorryhas What a load of bollocks. At least 66% of Sugar's "Beaster" wants to call you out on that.

HAHA. Grant is such a dork. It's always been clear where the talent came from in that band. Bob rules.

@medicinegone Have you heard Hot Wax? It's actually better than anything Bob's done in quite some time.

Bob Mould was 90's during the 80's and 80's during the 90's, otherwise I'm sure he would be a lot more popular.

just regular guys who made great music for personal satisfaction, you wont find any band now that contains even 2 of those factors.
