THis laptop is smaller than the x300 and the macbook air (not as thin though). It certainly got a performance increase with the SSD. I had one before and it never booted this fast
The slow boot up is probably caused by the BIOS, very slow CPU speed (400 MHz range), and only 64 MB of RAM.
SSD is fast, but there's a term in the PC world called bottlenecking. Just because one or two parts of a PC are super fast doesn't mean the entire thing will be.
I thought the computers boot was slow but as soon as the win2000 screen came up it speeded up. But that doesn´t matter if the overall time is over a minute... SSD:s are ment to be faster than this.
I heard there were 2 different types of SSDs. One is blazing fast, one is super slow. I heard that when I saw a video of an iBook G4 with a SSD taking 8 minutes to boot up when with the standard hard drive it would take 45 seconds!!!
What SSD are you using in there?

Nice but X40 is still the best thinkpad ever for me.

@S0chan Oh... you mean the one that uses the super-slow non-standard 1.8" hard drive?
X60 is the best :)

@SeikoPsycho Wow, it indeed does look nice. I really haven't know about it.
But about the 1.8" being super-slow, I don't know, it works well if you ask me. Or at least it's enough for me.

agreed, ssd memory should be used with ddr2 memory for a nice speed, with at least a intel atom 1.6ghz!

Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks damn slow... or at least slower than I thought it would be... :|
