Maybe he is not trying to compete with Luke Kelly or anyone else. By singing this he is spreading a beautiful song and introducing the music and poetry to a new audience. Why does he have to meet anyone's musical standards? He has earned the right to do sing what he wants at this stage, and we enjoy it

This is the version sung with the chieftains "irish Heartbeat" the cd is now out of print which is a shame as other songs on the album such as irish heartbeat and carrickfergus and my lagan love are fantastic. Certainly this version of Raglan Road by VM is the best in my opinion.
