  • I was gonna write a song about loving someone you will never have. Woody took the words out of my mouth before i could.

  • Even at 10k views, it's still a shame.

  • Woody is my hero. Wish we had em back, but we don't deserve him.

  • @Thubbadubba

I disagree, thinking people do deserve him. It don't matter how mean and nasty people can be. They still deserve salvation to me. And on that note, if you haven't heard Steve Earle's 'Christmas Time in Washington,' you ought to type that in the ol' youtube line to check it out. It think you'd like it.

  • I can never remember one song from Elton... Pfui!

  • A shame a song like this has but 4,111 views...

  • Man, from this album cover it looks like Sean Penn should play Woody Guthrie in a film. Prolly just this particular photo. Many thanks to whoever posted this song. Such a treasure, and great to be able to listen to it.

  • Rest in Peace, Woody.

  • Woody is more than good, In the days of strict segregation, he played with Lead Belly, Sonny Terry , Brownie McGhee. Those things just werent done by white performers in polite society, Woody didnt give a damn about polite society. While working on a troop ship, he was playing for the troops when he heard voices from the front hold, he asked, Why arent we playing down there?

Well, those are colored troops, and there might be trouble, .

Woody asked, Why? Dont they like music?

  • ahh thanks!!! that saved me! this is my favorite song! especially the one with a banjo in it. i learned it and was just gonna change the lyrics, but now i know... that was actually me on someone elses name. cause i was ashamed to ask! lol thanks.. RIP WOODY GUTHRIE

  • so is he gay??? i dont understand these lyrics?

  • @emmamakhno Very often, blues and folk artists would cover traditional songs without changing the gender round. The White Stripes version of Jolene continues this tradition.

  • @neonatalpenguin Thank you for fixing him up.

Did you ever wonder why Elton Johns songs were so...Generic? and general love songs? haha.

  • its hard and its hard aint it hard

  • A shame a song like this has but 41 views...

  • @OwningLord It now has exactly 12,000 more than that. Some things, especially good ones, take time :)
