There is a huge difference between getting a 100 and a 65 on the regents. If you maintain a 90% average on your regents, you get a advanced regents diploma with distinction. If you do the minimum you get a regents diploma. If you take like 5 regents but don't get a 90% average on them you get an advanced regents diploma (without the distinction). Colleges care... big time.

Even though I passed by 10 points, I'm still not happy, cuz it's fukin impossible to fail! I probably put in 3-5 hours of studying and I easily passed. And it's not true, a 65 and 100 is a big difference. Even though I'd rather not take regents, if ur from NY colleges care if u do bad on regents...

if your friend gets a 65 and you get 100 its alot more beneficial on you. Mainly because it is stated in the NYS regents exam background, if a student throughout his high school career gets higher than an 85 or better on 5 regents exams, and mastery diploma will be issued to the student. So its better to get a 100 than a 65.

I took English part one today and Chemistry and the listening for english was soooo damn boring i wanted to fall asleep. Chemistry was pretty easy tho =]
But i think in order to take AP classes you need to get a high grade on your regents. I believe 90 and up. I think AP classes also give you college credits so.. yea. But i don't think regents is hard, I just think they are a boring test. I can finish it in like one hour and get a 70-80.

I have 12 1/2 credits when I was a Senior in HS you can see why I chose not to take the Chemistry regents again I already completed all my science course and two advance science.

I had to take ten. The living enviorment, algebra, world history, geometry, chemistry, english, italian, physics, u.s history and trig. Passed all of them and got an advance regents deploma wich is all for braging. And the regents affects your gpa thats why its important to do well on it.

Yea regents are a waste of time for me. I realized making 90's doesn't make a difference. Only the SAT and your GPA matter the most. Most out of city student's don't even KNOW what a regents examination is...which i find kinda hilarious xD
But! Yea...regents are ridiculous. Despite my opinion i still passed all my regents with 80's and 90's ironically. I guess they just want to test how much you learned throughout the year. Regardless it's still a hassle for students, lol. Regents are HORRIBLE(:
I agree with some of your rant.. Trust me good teachers did not become teachers to teach to a test. I do have one response to one of your complaints, namely that it does not matter if you get a 65 or 95. Admission officers put weight on those scores, especially inside of NY in the SUNY system. I teach in the inner city and I tell my kids that the regents exam is the great equalizer, giving them a chance to compete with kids across the state. Best wishes on the path of life.

no they dont count as 20 percent of your grade, thats a FINAL exam which is designed by the teacher not by the state and if what you said about the colleges are true, then that just means new york colleges expect more out of new york students which really isn't fair for kids that go to school in new york

There is a huge difference between getting a 100 and a 65 on the regents. If you maintain a 90% average on your regents, you get a advanced regents diploma with distinction.
