i have a 06 chevy cobalt Ls. i would be scared to do that i would think it would take years off the engine life. but thats just me i baby my cars lol. good show though.
i had the stock 2.2 07 with 42xxx miles auto and it would run 0-60 in 10 seconds. with a full car and 2 15 in subs in the trunk. overall good car pretty quick. wish i still had it :(
I used to have a cobalt but the transmissions on them dont last especiallly in the automatics i went and bought a 2010 mitsubishi lancer gts and i beat my friends ss in it even though i only make 168 hp and his ss make 250 but the gear ratios are different making the lancer faster 0 to 60 hell beat me but at 65 and up i beat him
This must be a low mileage LS 2.2 as the Ecotec doesn't start moving until 30+k miles.
My Cobalt is getting better gas mileage and much better up and go than when new.
I seriously get an average of 32.8MPG, and 0-60 is a hair over 8 seconds. Check video "Cobalt stock 2.2L - 8 sec. - 0-60 MPH" Not that he had the traction control come on (the yellow indicator light on the dash) slow him down and he has a full tank of gas. That is stock, no CAI.
@tomjw7 I had an old Dodge Daytona 2.2 8 valve motor turbocharged Shelby and I got a consistent 37 MPG and that car weighed more, so I believe it. I drove 60% hwy and 40% inner city with the Daytona. Every time the trip hit 370 miles, I would fill the car and it would only allow 10 gallons. 4 bangers with turbos are awesome.
the reason i was asking is cause I have the LT in auto (they didnt have any in stick) and I usually spin the tires when i launch it.. no not neutral drop, holding the break to about 2K and dropping the break.
I know spinning tires doesnt mean its got power but I used to have a kia.. im just happy I have a Chevy now.
@darthjerky Well mine drives alright. Hasn't given me any problems except the BMC going out. But its pretty quick if you want to spend a little more gas. I've beatin a '99 5spd civic and a '01 impala LT2. So they hold their ground for the most part.
no im saying to all of the people saying it was down hill... its not like it was 0-100 in 10 seconds or anything lol. its a completely believable time.
@venomt that sucks. manuals are way more reliable. you can start it with a dead battery and they are actually ment for the spped and racing. not trying to be rude forgive me if i am but do you know how to drive stick?
It must help. I have driven my Grandparents Cobalt LS and it doesn't climb that fast. None the less ur car is still pretty quick. But its got to be quicker now.
Your car is not stock. It gets to 0-60 to fast for it to be a stock colbalt LS. But I know its not fast enough to be the SS. So you must have a bigger intake on it or a chip or something.
What was the tac up to?

countryboy2442 9 months ago
@countryboy2442 107 ish with the auto, and 115-120 on the 5 spd i think
reaper0589 9 months ago
@reaper0589 Yeah, my friend has a '08 5sp LS coupe, it's 115.
srcej6 7 months ago
@countryboy2442 the 2009 Balt LS is set at 115mph and will hit that at just b4 redline in 4th gear. it will hold 115 in 5th at about 4,000 rpm.

@darthjerky the automatic cobalt is terrible... my grandpa has one... it does not shift smoothly at all and is really slow... stick with manual...
