Some old fashioned styles of beer (Sam Adams, Guinness, Rolling Rock, etc) are great, but I agree, a lot of commercial beer is weak. Whiskey and rum are great, but believe it or not, the strongest drink you can buy commercially is not at a state store. Look for McCormack's flavorings (orange, lemon, mint). The weakest of the three, orange is 160 proof, the lemon is 168 proof, and the mint is 180 proof.
