  • "A ship in a bottle"

Yeah a ship in a bottle....Get over it!

  • Ahhh...

Tell you what, if kids watched Mr. Benn, Bagpuss and the like instead of those shows that encourage them to dance, sing and beat sodding pots and pans together, they wouldn't be so f#cking annoying.

  • @tonto666ehg - that comment is legend. I need to find a way to send that to russell howard.

  • Quality. It really takes me back. Life so innocent back then

  • bagtpuss must have been hit on the face with a frying pan.....panpuss

  • Do you know at home? What was it doing in there?

  • i watched candlewick green, loads of singing on me army truck....

  • @jacquelinejaundrill1 I thought it was camberwick green.... XD

  • Nyep nyep nyep...old Yaffle knew it all lol..

  • I am sad that they ended the series, they stopped the wombles and the clangers too :(

  • WHAT?! They stopped the wombles, the clangers, AND bagpuss?! D: Three of the best kids shows ever ever EVER?! How dare they! And now they're re-done thomas the tank engine and postman pat and noddy too! They've ruined childrens TV! D':

  • @Turkeygirl1900 They were my favourites too ;___; and I'm not even British!

  • Nationality does not matter in the bonds between child and childs programme. :c Come hither and mourn for our lost shows, for they were legends in our eyes.

  • I am happy they ended the series. If it was here now, some stupid company would ruin it.

  • This was good, honest, wholesome entertainment directed to the under 5's. Not that the under 5's were the only ones to watch, of course. I spent many days of past Summer holidays watching such programmes at 1.45pm before BBC1 returned to a, 'trade test transmission.' It kind of gave you a warm, comforting feeling inside after watching such shows, which lasted you through the afternoons, ready for 4pm when the afternoon programmes started. Nostalgic, maybe. But, it was all good clean fun.

  • Apparently a few yrs ago Bagpuss was named the most popular kids tv programme EVER MADE!!

  • I liked Bagpuss. The things we forget.

  • "A Ship? In a Bottle?! Are you on crystal fucking meth?"

  • what the hell why so negative.

this was a legend show :]

  • classic.how they mananged to find things to do in that dusty old shop i´ll never know but it kept me entertained.time to go to sleep.

  • i love old timy shows it makes me feel cozy and at home i wish it was like this nowa days D:

  • Ok.. This is veryyy strange.. xS

  • this is actually 'stealing by finding'.

all the bollocks in the shop window should have been handed in at the cop shop

  • no!!.tell me it`s not true.lol.

  • LOL......just as well justice was done. As well as stealing all that lost property I think it's highly unlikely that Emily paid rates on the shop or had any sort of commercial liability insurance...these are serious charges in themselves!

  • madalane the rag doll used to scare the shit out of me!!

  • shows like these are why our generation wer'nt getin pregnaunt at 9.....

  • And spell like that to ?

  • if your tryn to b funny, your not scumb bag ..just fuck off you tube. punk!!!!

i hate chumps like you....make your own comments n dont just reply to other peoples

  • 'too' not 'to'...................

  • ....or becoming English teachers either!!!!

  • Oh I remember wathching this when i was 3

    Good times

  • Fuck "Smoke On The Water". This theme is the first thing I learned to play on guitar. BuddyFantastic, I concur. I just turned 40 and I still well-up when I hear / see this.

  • I'm Italian but I saw it when I was a child.

    I saw Italian vrsion.

I like this buta I don't remember the title of Italian version

  • I remember watching this!!

  • top notch!!!

  • Have to saythat, although i'm in my 30's, the opening scene does get the tear ducts flowing.

  • wrong title for this

the theme is over there>>.called Bagpuss...

    why are ships in bottles?

  • excellent that brings the memories flooding back cheers

  • Political Correct = Poisonous Cancer

  • I read with dismay that the BBC is intending to re-make Bagpuss No doubt they'll destroy the appeal of the original series with their trendy use of bad language and explicit sex. Well, I for one have no desire to see a 3-D Proffessor Yaffle and Gabriel the Toad spit-roasting Madeline the ragdoll whilst Bagpuss masterbates, culminating in a bukkake cum-bath featuring the mice off the mouse organ. Why can't these people keep their filthy ideas to themselves and leave this innocent programme alone?

  • That made me laugh so much I think I've just broken something! a truly inspired comment! ;-)

  • very vizesque rofl

  • jaw droppingly funny rolmho

  • I'd watch that.

  • Trust me, the remade series will be full of Somalians, Poles, Romanians, and of course, a Black Welsh Lesbian- in - a Wheelchair- just to represent the British...

  • @Kelly14UK It reminds me of the black people in Balamory, which is set in rural Scotland...

  • @tonto666ehg

talk about a tea spitting comment .funny.

  • @tonto666ehg Are you serious lol. If anything, people have become way more stiff, prudish and obessed with political corectness as the years have gone on. Remember Noddy was banned because he was apparently gay? No. If anything. This show will lose all of its' naive pervertedness and become a shiny, bleached Playschool-look-alike.

  • @tonto666ehg Seriously wtf?

  • @tonto666ehg - as serious as your view clearly is, I can't help but admit that I chuckled slightly at your description... in fact, I practically guffawed!

  • @tonto666ehg thankfully not it seems:

    independent. co. uk/news/media/tv-radio/no-comeback-for-bagpuss-cloth-cat-refuses-cgi-remake-1809147.html

  • @tonto666ehg Tbh,i'd watch that but i hear what your saying

  • @tonto666ehg The reason 'they' wont leave this alone is because 'they' wont be finished until our people have been truned into a mindless mass and our race destroyed.

  • @tonto666ehg That's going to be absolutely horrible, as a 25 year old who grew up with Bagpuss. I feel the charm is that there is not anything as innocent as Bagpuss. CBeebies have already ruined Bill & Ben, Andy Pandy and Muffin the Mule with crude CGI.

The last thing we need is modern day kids, looking up the original version of their new favourite show and comparing the show with the newer monstrosity.

  • Brilliant...even animals were posh in those days, lol

  • @okb1313 that really made me laugh :L thanks

  • RIP Oliver. Gone but not forgotten

  • R.I.P. Oliver. The man was indeed a genius. My sincere condolences to the Postgate family. He kept creating TV gold. Only in England could anyone like that have existed. I've heard that they are thinking or remaking Bagpuss very soon. I certainly hope not! CGI will never replace stop-motion animation in my eyes. Leave Bagpuss alone, or it will be desecrating a sacred part of TV history! And so Oliver closed his eyes and settled down to sleep...

  • yeah his son is a teacher at my school.

RIP, but we can still enjoy bagpuss.

  • Ooops I spelled Oliver's name wrong then...sorry..

My heartfelt condolences to all the Postgate family, and a big hug too.. a master who will be sadly missed.

  • OH SHOCK HORROR... Pliver Postgate had died..no more Bagpuss ever... As a bona fide Bagpuss fan I will miss the master of voices and brilliant stories..Ivor the Engine, the Clangers, Noggin the Nog, Poggles Wood.. All brilliant and now must be savoured..:(

  • RIP to a genius

  • A wonderful programme along with everything Oliver Postgate created PURE GOLD.

Part of my childhood died today, RIP Mr Postgate

  • awesome compared to the trash the kids have on tv these days

  • To Mr Postgate's family, thanyou for all the memories in the past, present, and for my kids, RIP Oliver, a ledgend to British society

  • Oliver Postgate, that kindly uncle that created my age group and showed us a nicer way of life, there is a new star in the sky tonight smiling on all of us.

    And Emily loved him....

  • Classic Uncle Charlie Mouse!!

R.I.P Oliver Postgate thanks for the memories.

  • R.I.P Oliver Postgate

  • what year is this from???

  • I think its from 1974. Can't say for certain tho.

  • Clangers was classic too!!

  • Row, row, row the boat, heavily down the stairs, bingledy bangledy bongledy bumpety, down the apples and pears ! I still sing that to my son. It's taken from the ballerina shoe episode when 2 mice were looking for the Stilton cheese, I love it.

  • why was emily trying to sell him if she loved him so much. she seems evil. also, isnt she too young to own a shop?..allthese unanswered questions.

  • i used to watch Bagpuss XD XD XD IVE WANTED A BAGPUSS FOR YEARS NOW!!!

  • you obviously didnt grow up with bagpuss then. it is so old. mind you, you saying its retarded is basically calling children retarded.

  • heave heave heave!

  • wow, i remember watching this when it was on TV....

  • anyone who wishes to see this video slightly altered may come to my profile and have a loook please.

  • Nostalgic program. still have fond memories after so many years. British TV produced so many wonderful childrens programs (Mr. Ben, Playschool, the wombles, Button moon) etc

  • do you know that ann summers sell a blow up bagpuss?

  • Now thats just plain wrong.

  • anyone know where i can get a cat from that looks like bagpuss? he was so cute and funloving

  • yeah i luv bagpuss! its sooooo sweet!

  • i have all the bagpuss episodesand this was one of my faves

  • Bagpuss Rocks!!! watched it when i was a kid

  • aaaaah good times... i LUV its intro, makes me feel all nostalgic, everything is sepia tone in my head, from my mum fedding me, to me playing with my friends

  • this used to scare the crap outta me

  • yeah there's something really unsettling about it. it must be those god damn mice!

  • Professor Yaffle was a carved wooden bookend in the shape of a woodpecker. Even Bagpuss himself once he was asleep was just an old, saggy cloth cat ... I used to have to fight my older sister to watch this - ah happy memories;)
