In Colombia and Venezuela it is 36 and 48, among the world´s highest. Besides, suicide rates in Italy and Spain are among the world´s lowest. Mediterranean countries are not "lovers" of death.

First, he is not a head of state. Second, he has not faced charges of mafia. Third, the guy from Naples allegedly linked to camorra is a subsecretary, not a minister. Fourth, maybe you should learn about the politic history of Italy in last 30-40 years to understand why he wins. Maybe the alternative is even worse. By the way, he lost two times (1996 and 2006) and the earth did not stop going around.

First of all, I am not Italian and don't vote in Italian elections. Secondly, the President of Italy is Georgio Napolitano, an honest man of culture and moderation who belongs to the Party that is against Berlusconi. The latter is the Prime Minister, leader to the largest Party which with 2 other coalition partners makes up the majority. How they got in is a long story; substantially his opposition blew they chances and the people elected Ber, not because they liked him, but out of desperation.
